Two errors this inning. Is this gonna be one we ultimately blow? Cleveland is f***ing amazing. If only we were 6-7 back instead of what we are.

QUOTE (GREEDY @ May 22, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) Just had to get on here to say that Ozzie flat out sucks. The wind is absolutely blowing out here and he has Pierre and Vizquel in the lineup. A missed opportunity to get Carlos or Brent some confidence, and oh yea a missed opportunity to have your best chance to win the damn game. Save yourself high blood pressure. Pierre is playing every day no matter what. Omar looks like he's become a starter which I don't agree with, but he has been good again.

Cmon Edwin, pitch around the error.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) He still has an OBP over .300. He gets to 1b a lot. I shoulda waited til he scored and said, 'meet home plate.' My bad. He's scored a whopping 13 runs.He has 25 walks to go with his 27 hits in 143 or so at bats.

Mr. Dunn. Meet first base. First base, meet Mr. Dunn.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ May 22, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) 2 outs. Running on contact Thanks. I had a braincramp like Loney.

Beautiful hit by Lexi. That woulda been cool to clear the fence for homer No. 2 today. How did Gordon score on that? Always a chance it coulda been caught. Nice, Lexi and Gordon.
-
Nice hustle by Beckham and good glove. Awful baserunning. As Hawk just said it's time to play great baseball today, then at Texas, at Boston, at Toronto. As far back as we are ... wow. This is the opposite of playing with the house's money. Sox trying to avoid burial.
-
Didn't Kemp have a few so-so years. Now he's a star. Maybe Beckham will follow that same path?
-
For all the grief he takes, AJ has definitely been productive at the plate of late during the period in which we've been winning. One or two bats getting hot can really help (Mr. Dunn please wake up).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 22, 2011 -> 06:06 AM) I was there, drunk as a bastard. Adam Dunn heard it from me today thats for sure. When you booed him did you get any dirty looks from fans? Or is it consensus.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:58 AM) I agree. It is almost imcomprehensible that he would or could be this bad. I feel sorry for him as you know he is a proud fellow as all ballplayers most likely are. They want to suceed. He was to contribute. $ k's today and what was it 2 or 3 K's yesterday. The man looked lost at the plate. He has got to be better than this. He has to be ! I feel sorry for him as well. I don't like him resembling the worst baseball player in humankind. I hope to hell he goes nuts in June and July. If he could whack 10 homers each month that would greatly help the Sox make something of this pathetic, noncontending season (so far). I'm sure he's trying. But at some point he has to expect to be bashed ad nauseum as he is making people sick who watch him bat. No hits against lefties? My god, most pitchers would have a hit against lefties in 30 at bats.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 22, 2011 -> 01:38 AM) It was Ozzie's job to realize that Thornton is NOT a closer. A lot of us knew that LAST year when he had to fill in for Jenks. He just never looked comfortable in the role and this year it has born itself out. Secondly, Ozzie will go ALL YEAR with JP no matter what. Why? Because he's a f*cking idiot. All you have to do is look 2010 and Kotsay for proof of how stupid he is. Literally. The guy probably has a 56 IQ. But of course smarts aren't everything in managing. I like the fact that Ozzie is the boss, and I like his laid back attitude. I just wish he had someone that could THINK for him because it's evident the guy has very little brains when it comes to making tactical decisions. Third, Beckham is playing a non slugging position and still young, so you can have MUCH more patience with him than an aging Juan Pierre who costs us ball games day in and day out when we have a better player in AAA waiting to take his spot. Look at today's game, for example. Garland is throwing BP out there and Juan can't even get a pop up out of the infield- he's a little league ball player in MLB right now. Thankfully Alexei was able to bail him out. It's a friggin crime that this guy gets the most PA's for our team and at the same time is probably the worst player in MLB. Only on a team managed by Ozzie Guillen! You guys act like Ozzie makes all the decisions. Kenny is our GM. And as far as Thornton, when I was worried about him being a closer cause I don't like lefthanded closers, people bashed me on here. The overwhelming majority of Soxdom was happy Thornton was taking over for Bobby. The second guessing on this site is comical. My god, don't some of you know that second guessing has gone on forever on every team and will forever go on? The Thornton decision was a popular one to make him closer. It by no means was just Ozzie. You think anybody would have made Santos the closer right out of ST?? It was Thornton's. Like somebody said he paid his dues. He got the job and failed. Those people who think Ozzie should have magicly dumped him after his first or second bad outing, cmon. That's dumb. At that point of the season it really was early. He earned the job and blew it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:24 AM) Bad news for the Sox. Hopefully he'll rest up and we'll ride Lilly's hot streak and great defense.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 22, 2011 -> 01:25 AM) Adam Dunn does three things well: take walks, hit home runs, strike out. He's doing two of those things fairly well right now. Unfortunately, the aspect he is missing is his best and most valuable attribute. It's amazing Brent L. has as many home runs as Dunn. That is incomprehensible. Dunn should be really embarrassed that he's been this bad.
-
Adam Dunn doesn't have a hit all season against lefties. That truly is a stat of all stats. Adam, please get hot against righties and, uh, change your approach against lefties and try to merely hit the ball to the left side against the shift. You are embarrassing right now, sir.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 22, 2011 -> 12:03 AM) So fans should never question any manager, since they aren't a manager and don't know as much as they do. Yet, managers get fired all the time for essentially not being good at their job. Odd. There have been numerous times people on here (or at games) have been right when Ozzie has been wrong, end of story. Ozzie may be a good "manager" to some, but one of his strengths is clearly not x's and o's, for lack of a better term. What's great about today's game is that a lot of people know a lot about baseball, regardless of if they played the game at the MLB level. Plus, all the stats are at everyone's fingertips - every stat you can think of. The only thing people don't have is the "inside the game" facts - maybe who's tired in the pen that day (though you can usually figure that out), etc. So you can make calls just like they can. One thing is for sure. Even he wouldn't have been surprised had he gotten fired during that pathetic stretch where we lost almost every single night and let a team like Cleveland build that insurmountable lead on us.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 22, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) You are a walking contradiction. I have seen at least three occasions where you've said Dunn is garbage and should be batting 8th. Now you are saying that Guillen has to bat him third? Which one is it? Are you dumb or is Ozzie an idiot? You can't have it both ways. I said I'd bat him eighth. I know why Ozzie bats him third.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 22, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Do you feel stupid for slobbing on Jenks' knob last season when he was pure garbage? Hell no figuratively speaking. I won't take the bait and list the reasons I liked Bobby. Though I do take offense to you saying I'd do that to a male physically. I am not gay, though I won't condemn those who are.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 21, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) Please name ONE player who is worse than Juan Pierre who not only starts but gets the most PA's for his team in all of baseball. Ozzie may be a great personality and the boss, which you need in today's game, but his tactical decisions suck. Adam Dunn, but he doesn't get as many plate appearances. I don't agree his tactical decisions suck but I do realize I'm in the minority on this. I was in favor of canning Ozzie a few weeks ago BTW. Just because of our team's horrific start again. At some point things have to settle down with our team and be more consistent.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 21, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Wow. For you to criticize what he's done this year after fellating Jenks last year and his god awful season.....wow....just wow. I love Sergio. He's one of my favorite players.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 21, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) I hate your thread; not you, just your thread. I can't believe 19 people smugly picked that first choice. Embarrassing. I happen to think Ozzie is a genius at managing the players he's given. We have some awkward situations on the team this year. Give it some more time. I think there's some jealousy of Ozzie. He's outspoken, rich and will be in baseball all his life. Many people think they are as smart as Ozzie baseball wise which is a joke. The man has been in the game a zillion years and knows baseball. Many of us would get fired immediately if we said some of the things Ozzie says and I think jealousy has set in with some Sox fans. Every team has stiffs like Juan Pierre that are still playing despite the fact fans hate him (them). It's easy to get mad when he picks the wrong reliever. Now Crain is the guy everybody wants in the setup role every night when the game is close. You have to use your entire roster and Ozzie is as qualified as anybody to make these decisions. My feeling is the real Ozzie haters don't blame the players as much as they should. Instead of saying Dunn is a worthless piece of s***, they blame Ozzie for batting him third. Guess what? He's on the roster and a slugger with a history of doing well. You bat him third or fourth. He has to produce. But he sucks, so blame Ozzie for batting him third. In my world, that's dumb. Anybody who picked that first choice is delusional. Or sorry I guess you people are smart enough to be baseball managers, you just didn't pursue that career path.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 21, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) Makes too much sense which means there is no chance It would happen. I'd like the Lilly lovers to at least admit one thing. Do you feel stupid for throwing a tantrum when the Sox kept Lilly over Lastings Millidge? I've blasted Lillibridge in the past like many on here, but never wanted Lastings Millidge over Lilly.

Get Pena out of there. Give the fans who attended the game and paid good money a break. How bout a 9-2 win, not 9-6.
-
Adam Dunn may be the worst hitter in baseball. Or as the fans just said "Boo."
