  1. I agree. Tank should stay. I was going to copy and paste something off the AP notes story tonight. It said Kotsay's teammates burned 2 of Kotsay's bats before the game to take the hex off him. That's bad news. They are playing around trying to help Kotsay which probably means he's a great clubhouse guy and he's going nowhere. It was written in a light tone like Kotsay's teammates were trying to take the hex off him. He's obviously well liked and his role won't be reduced.
  2. I'm not trying to stir anything up, but wouldn't it be nice to move this thread somewhere else until at least the Sox, say, finally fall out of first place? I think it gives internet Soxdom a bad name. Am I wrong to think this is a dumb topic at this time?? It's a nonsequitir (sp). I mean we are in first place, even though it is a weak division. Teams don't fire people when they are in first place. Also, the team's road trip wasn't disastrous (if you want disastrous, wait til we go to NY and Boston on the same trip), and it is on a nine or 10 game home win streak (knock on wood). I do realize we could fall out of first at any time, but still, isn't the name of this thread kind of embarrassing considering the "current" status of the team?
  3. How bout an entire season (or next 2 months) of Dayan instead of Kotsay. I'd even want Viciedo over Thome right now as regular DH. I hate that Thome shift.
  4. I've said it before. What about Brian Bannister? Royals have a lot of pitching in the minors. They might ship him to us for very little in return. Maybe even for one minor leaguer and a lot of money. Could Coop work his magic? He's had some decent starts in his otherwise lousy big league career so far.
  5. No. Zambrano right now is worth being paid the major league minimum, Andruw Jones money, no more. He's an awful pitcher. If Coop can fix him, then more power to Coop. I don't know why the Cubs would want Teahen or Linebrink. Teahen is blah and we all know what Linebrink is. He should not be in the major leagues.
  6. Man, we play like that and all is well in the world. It's like we don't need to make any moves on nights like this. Seriously ... Viciedo needs to play almost every day at 3B and/or DH. Just forget Kotsay, Oz and KW, and play the kid. Also, Alexei! My gosh is he hot. Andruw Jones may stink but somehow he has 14 home runs. Alexei is up to 10 hrs. I know the M's are one of the worst teams in humanity, but so were the Indians when we kept losing to them. So I'll take this. I also like the fact we continue to roll at home. The No. 2 hole sure didn't jinx Lexi. Go Sox! When Teahen gets activated, who the f*** is going to go down? Sending Viciedo down would/will be sad. The guy should be playing more. I'd rather send Lillybridge down or Linebrink but we know that isn't going to happen.
  7. Two good posts following mine. Wow. Nice. I do think answering my questions would be an interesting exercise and introspection of you, the fan, identifying exactly what you expect out of the franchise.
  8. That actually might not be a bad idea. I would think Coop has considered it.
  9. I just couldn't believe how badly he pitched against us before his ejection. He was horrible. And obviously he was horrible before that since he got demoted to the bullpen. I just don't think he's very good and when he's not very good he's also apparently a cancer. I'd pass on this guy at all costs unless Cubs pay all but 1 million of the contract. Even then his pitches still will scream, "HIT ME."
  10. Wouldn't Derrick Lee be a good rental at DH? Or is he locked under contract a long time? Lee for two Class A players.
  11. Sadly, there's talk in KC Greinke's shoulder is not right. WTF with pitchers? What is going on?
  12. The question is what is good enough for Sox fans? Yes the payroll now is pretty decent, but if you have four or five stars, the payroll in a market like this means you will have a batch of inexpensive guys as well. My guess is you want division titles four of every five years and deep playoff runs as well, with a WS title, what, every 10 years? Five years? Is being the Minnesota Twins good enough for you? The old Atlanta Braves who won the division every year for 15 years or something? What are your expectations? My expectaitons for a still "small market" type team is about what is happening. Vie for a division title and hopefully have lightning strike in a bottle in the postseason as it did in 05. So what are your expectations?? My guess is many think we should run away with the division every year and at least make the ALCS every year. Good luck with that. Other teams want it too.
  13. Life's too short to be mad over that kind of stuff. Don't worry. Be happy. Cmon Gavin!
  14. I think it's what most fans do, at least in a message board forum. Just win, baby, and you shut everybody up.
  15. Thing is, we're stuck seeing Teahen. Same deal as Linebrink. Sox are paying them so they got to be on the team. I wouldn't mind Teahen if he just replaces Kotsay and his at bats. Can't imagine Oz getting rid of Kotsay though. He appears to love him. Viciedo is the guy who is gonna get sent down though I wish it was Lillibridge if I had to pick between those two (I'm assuming Oz has to have Kotsay and Jones both).
  16. Exactly. I'd hate to see Teahen trot out to third. It shows you how bad Kotsay is when the thought of Teahen taking his at bats is sort of appealing.
  17. Proof again that people will go when they get a break on the amount of money it takes to go. A lot of South Siders are blue collar, baby. They can't afford the s*** ass modern day prices.
  18. We really don't need both Teahen and Kotsay. Dump one of them, please.
  19. 19-1? Greinke gets shelled. Now those KC fans truly do have sumthin to b**** about. As far as our game. Man, John Danks is a stud. Lexi? Wow. Juan Pierre continues to shut me up. He's having a mediocre to halfway decent year. Wouldn't you give him a B? Nothin lower than a B-minus for sure. OK, maybe a C. Paulie bashing pretty many homers in the new non steroid era. Poor Beckham is struggling again. Great victory. Glad we are playing pretty well again at the Cell.
  20. I guess it's partly because ticket prices, parking, food and beer prices are so high and players make so much money ... but patience is really slim these days. Just think if at your first big-time job your potential as a good worker was judged by your first couple weeks on the job ... Wow, good luck to you. Some people actually do improve, ya know?
  21. He ought to keep playing til they rip the jersey off his back. Like Julio Franco. Great lifestyle. Easy money. If somebody wants him, he should for sure play.
  22. Wow only a 12 page game thread. That's what happens when you win a clean game -- Just Win Baby stops all naysaying in its tracks fast.
  23. Rock ... it seems like it's actually picking up steam. That's why I say it'd be a tough sell on the talk show circuit.
  24. It'd be interesting how this conversation would play on the more popular talk shows in Chicago today and Ranger's post game show and/or Grobstien's (sp) late night show. As well as a national host like Rome or Patrick? Would the caller be laughed or mocked off the radio for suggesting Oz and KW actually be fired today? Would you be confident in presenting your case to the general masses? Would the discussion be reasonable or would you be belittled? I'm just wondering if the discussion on here would play out with the masses of fans who listen to the radio and attend games? Would you be confident bringing this up in a public forum, because it would be easy for the host to dismiss the caller off with the host saying, "Sir, this team is in first place! and recently went 25-5."
