Very true Hawksox, but if we move Jackson for a hitter, we also need a good starter ... badly! Badger makes some good points IMO as always.
-
At the end of the season I think we all would be in favor of a trade for Jackson back to them for Hudson. That's my gut feeling.
-
That's the bottom line for me on this deal as well. That's why I give the deal a "No."
-
If somebody starts a thread, 'do you like this trade as it currently stands?' I would say, "No," for my answer. Wouldn't you all say the same?
-
I just did, and I'm not a nobody ... at least to my wife and kids.
-
He seemed like he had pretty good stuff, to me. Chances are he'll be better than Jackson IMO. Also, Clayton Richard ain't doing too bad for the Pods. Isn't Hudson a better prospect than Richard? Would you guys love to have Garland or Richard back now? Or like to have them back?
-
I wonder why the Sox n Cubs don't work something out. This is one year they need to dump some players and we actually might be able to use either Lee, Lilly, Ramirez or gulp, Zamby.
-
Don't worry, I'm over taking the bait on stuff. As far as Lee ... he'd be our DH capable of getting hot for his chance at a pennant. I just have a weird feeling Lilly would be serviceable. Maybe it's the one-hitter thing. Why don't we just get Berkman? THey don't need him now that they got phenom Wallace. Let's get him cheaply. We'll have Jackson and the bat we need. Ship the Astros two minor leaguers. Ok 3 of them.
-
Well if we trade Jackson in a Dunn deal, our rotation is really s*** now. Really bad. So we need to get a pitcher back along with a slugger. So I thought Lilly and Lee would be the key. I don't wanna see Torres on the mound the next two months. I guess the guy we are pitching tonight could be the savior, however. Maybe he's a bulldog like somebody said.
-
Here's how to salvage the day. Trade Jackson and pay some of his salary to the Cubs for Lilly and Lee! How bout it.
-
So now we've flopped Jackson for Hudson. In reality that is not too bad. But ... if we trade Jackson now and don't get anything good, we have a big hole in our rotation. As of now, it's not been a horrible day trade wise. It could get bad, however, if we are stuck with Torres or somebody as No. 4 and Freddy No. 5.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I love Gordo.
-
That's going to be sad losing Beckham. Very sad. I like everything about him.
-
Oh, Ok.
-
Thanks again. Wow, he gives up some runs on a consistent basis. He had a pretty good last outing though.
-
No sarcasm. If the GM acquires a lefthanded big bat like Dunn and he platoons with a lefty weakling like Kotsay, yes I feel that is a fireable offense. I worship Ozzie but that would be insane. I can't imagine that happening with Dunn/Kotsay.
-
Platoon? Aren't they both lefties? That makes no sense. Oz will be forced to play Dunn over Kotsay or get fired and as an Oz lover, that would be a fireable offense. You don't acquire Dunn and split his at bats with Mr. Out.
-
A nibbler, huh? I assume he's a righty? Thanks, can you guys give me a full rundown of him, what he's done and how you project him to be in the majors? How old is he, etc? I've never heard of this guy.

Who the heck is Lucas Harrell and can he win tonight?
-
Did they ever reveal Bobby's family emergency a few weeks ago? Does anybody know what the deal was?

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:23 AM) Greg why when you quote some do you not use the reply button? I've honestly been wondering this for a very long time now haha. I dunno. Did I do it right this time? I have a hard time with message board functions sometimes.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:07 AM) Now your putting words I've never said into your mouth. You discussed chemistry, I called you out on that and you mentioned A.J. (for whatever reason) which I said we won with Castro as well. My point is don't act like A.J. (who has been terrible offensively this season) is the reason why the sox are doing well. Castro nor anyone else individually is the reason either. The sox are winning because our pitching as a whole has been fantastic and we are playing great defensively. (especially Alexei) Why get so upset? I am confusing you with the other guy who was mad about AJP. I think AJ is a reason we're doing well. He calls a good game. He's a competitor and part of this mojo that's going on. What is with all the anger on this site lately? Can't we just discuss things? Maybe it's as hot and muggy in Chicago as it has been in Kansas. I apparently mistook you for the other poster who flat out said Castro should be playing until further notice. It's late at night and I have not got the two of you straight. I am sorry for that. Didn't mean it. I just feel that his point is way off base regarding Castro/AJP. I stand by my chemistry comment in reference to the quote you showed me. I think AJ has helped us win, thus has helped our chemistry.

I got a feeling we're going to get him now that the Astros have the Jays' AAA phenom Wallace. You heard it here first. We are going to acquire Berkman.
-
I want Derrick Lee at DH and have a sneaky feeling Ted Lilly wouldn't be a disaster. Of course I don't want to give up any of our name prospects for anybody, so I guess in my world we can't acquire Lee/Lilly.
