  1. It's be interesting to hear/read how many games Kotsay and Jones have been truly instrumental in us winning the game and how that compares to Thome last year. I'm just curious more than anything ... and how many games Kotsay started and of those starts how many he could be credited as "contributing to the victory." As well as how many losses his at bats proved to be him being the obvious goat.
  2. Elgin Slim, that's a good post and kind of scary. Sounds as if Hudson may not have "it."
  3. I'd be all for Dayan as the regular DH since Oz worships (maybe rightly so) Omar. But it's simply not going to happen because Oz worships Kotsay and to a mildly lesser extent, Jones as well. You guys have the right to complain about it, but I don't see the point since it's not happening as long as Oz is the manager. It's like complaining about the weather IMO. I would think if and when Teahen returns then Dayan will be shipped down. Unfortunately that scenario would culminate a baffling season for Dayan. Cup of coffee up here with not a lot of playing time, instead of playing regularly all the way through. Our 1-2 punch of Juan and Omar doesn't thrill me, but it's been that way a while and we are in first place thanks in part to their defense. My two cents. GO SOX.
  4. Is the Kotsay hate ballooning? For once it's a guy I also dislike greatly. I don't think the nights I've watched I've ever seen him lash a hit. Lot of ground outs and some line outs to the shallow outfield. Couple warning track outs.
  5. Do you want Brian Bannister? He's available. I don't, but would he be a good mop up middle man? Like the Pena role? Royals probably want a real body for him, though.
  6. Bucket of suck is one great moniker on here. It is hilarious. I still smile when I see that name. As far as Hudson, have some patience, luckily we're still in first place. Start three should be huge for him. I hope he gets it together. Freddy's last horrific outing was alarming. Hope he can come back strong.
  7. With all due respect, you should get a warning letter as I did. But I like your posts and your passion. Cool post, Pumpkin. You rock. Good points, sir.
  8. I'm not gonna pile on, but I'd be gone right now if I said that. I know cause I've already gotten my watch out letter and even the response was the kind of response I think I've been getting yelled at for. I really am not trying to be a prick in my defense of Bobby, folks. I think if you went out for a beer with me you would actually like me. Or dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant here. Lemme know if any of you are ever in my area.
  9. How many years ago? Those have been 2 nice guys to have around. I mean in my opinion Mark and Paulie have been pretty darn productive. Don't know what we could have gotten years ago that would adequately replace the enjoyment of those two for me. p.s. Glad to see others being involved in aggressive soxtalk rather than myself. I'm still trying to figure out how somebody can tell somebody "f*** you" on here and not get in trouble and I get in trouble for my posts, but that's just me. Although I did agree with the overall sentiment of the f*** you post except for the f*** you part. I also cherish 2005.
  10. One other stream of consciousness comment as I watch the Cub game at work. ... It's nice to be having this discussion while the team is ... in first place. I mean there still is a chance it could be a special season. Though diehard Sox fans on here can't be too optimistic considering what we've already been through (horrible first two months; lousy efforts vs. Cleveland and Minnie; continuing s***tiness by some of the fans' former favorite players).
  11. I don't want to swing the conversation over to the Flubs, but wouldn't it be the same topic? Only their team has no WS title and hasn't been as consistent a contender as we have been (I guess for a few years they were right there, though). Piniella? Highly respected when he was hired and now despised by Flub fans. GM? Looked like he once made some great acquisitions. Now all you hear is all the bad contracts they have. Again, forgive me for going to the North Side on this, but it hit me that our situation is better than theirs (not that that matters except it was in my strain of consciousness and I had to get it out; forgive me pls).
  12. We had our chance as did everybody else. They were smart enough to hire the great BILL JAMES!!! Bill James rocks! I love that guy.
  13. I'm not attacking anybody either, but it would make threads more remarkable (and amusing) if people that call for heads would say whom they want to come in. Cause generally that sparks some fireworks as well, when people realize the suggested replacement has big-time flaws, too. I would say if Oz left, I'd like Joe Torre (and there were no tears shed in NY when he left). GM? Who the f*** knows? I have no idea who I'd want.
  14. I like the way mcgrad types in choppy haiku format like I do. Could mcgrad be me with a second login? I don't think either should be canned. We're actually still in the hunt this season and if Jake hadn't gotten unhealthy, we still might be rolling along. Ultimately I feel fathom is right, though. Our performance against Central Division teams is alarmingly bad to mediocre as it has been for a good stretch, now.
  15. Gordon inexplicably went 2-for-15 in the Oakland series with no walks and no RBIs after having multi hit games in six of his previous eight games. I don't know how many times he struck out today, but he'd whiffed seven times in his previous four games. That's baseball, but that has to be frustrating to him after getting it going.
  16. I know. The Royals would gladly give us somebody like Jose Guillen for Flowers straight up I bet, but I don't want to do that and I bet most Sox fans wouldn't want to do that. I bet KW would be a lot more willing to trade our top prospects for help had Peavy not gotten hurt. I could be way off base.
  17. Hey I read that. Nice stuff. You should get paid to write that. That, actually, might be a future model for game stories in dying "newspapers" I'd think. Nice amount of commentary to go with what happened. Good stuff. I need to remember to read that. It answered all my ?s on Hudson. Interesting perspective on AJP as well. I kind of wish the Sox brass would think about it and say that we are basically where we are where we started the season, tied for the division lead ... and make a couple moves so from this point forward maybe we can steal the division. I don't want us to get rid of Beckham, Viciedo, Hudson or Flowers though, so I may be asking for something impossible to pull off.
  18. I didn't know Omar got his average that high. That's a better option than fathom hitting, then.
  19. I did not get to see the game today. Judging from the box score, Hudson did not pitch well. What is the problem? Do you guys think he has the great great upside or are you concerned?
  20. Not saying you are wrong, but I'd rather have you as a pinch hit option than Omar and Kotsay.
  21. I heard they still have those great corned beef sandwiches there and beef sandwiches. It was a tradition at the old Comiskey Park and somebody said the tradition has continued and they are delicious.
  22. As far as mentioning the donation, I was pissed off. You ever get pissed off? As far as your other statements, I don't even know what to say. I personally think that was a personal attack calling me a 'ring leader of my circus of clowns.' My god. And finally, I don't know what you are saying except you are smarter than me and better than me. If you want everybody to always or most of the time agree with the "majority," fine, ban me. Message boards are funny, a microosm of real life. And people with minority opinions often get trashed. I still say I don't bait anybody. I give my opinion. If I get banned, fine, but I truly think your last post of the circle of clowns is worse than anything I've ever written. "Bringing the discussion down??" By disagreeing. My god. If I wanted to do a comprehensive study of posts on here (and I don't, it's a freaking message board, not a life and death thing) I could find many many posts that "bring the level of discussion down." If you post made you feel better about something, then it was a great one. You should have just pmed me and I'd pm you back rather than me have to defend myself on here and continue to "bring the level of discussion down."
  23. It's ok to have Omar starting at third, but he has to flip flop with Gordon in the lineup IMO. On the other hand, didn't somebody do a study saying positions in the lineup do not matter a bit?
  24. Love your post and reasoning except for the first three words.
