I disagree. I just disagree. I respond to other people's posts. What is so hard to understand about that? And your post was as vicious as any I've ever had. Well maybe vicious is the wrong word but you are calling me out harder than I ever call anybody out. I asked him a question to see if he was saying Bobby would be the reason we didn't win the division. What's wrong with that?

Great job by Mark. I watched the game from the third inning on. Man he was good. I read through this thread. People were freaking about CQ on that hit to right. I may be mistaken but that was a shot over his head. I think it's at least debatable whether any right fielder would have caught that one. I guess if you got an immediate amazing jump you could pull that one in. CQ had two RBIs so he more than made up for that, if indeed you thought he should have had it. I personally thought it was a true hit.

That topic is going to explode the next time Jenks enters a game me thinks and it won't be me starting the conversation good or bad, It'll be me responding to a lot of the conversation, though.
-
The results, however, speak for themselves. He's taken a batch of s*** offensive players and leads the division with them.
-
Does that mean bringing up the topic in a nice way is still s***, or Bobby is and always will be s***. I assume you mean the former.

I'd be in favor of sending Viciedo down so I don't have to think about him. It's pretty obvious he isn't going to be playing much at all. Oz worships Omar (who is an incredible glove) and Omar is obviously going to play every day at third, maybe getting one day off a week? It appears to me he's committed to CQ in right most of the time and when Jones plays out there, CQ will DH. The other times Jones/Kotsay will DH so Dayan is obviously out. It's pretty obvious Oz still loves Kotsay too. I love Viciedo but would be in favor of sending him down just so I don't have to think about him getting screwed out of PT. Maybe he can work on his 3B glove down there. Was he playing 3B or outfield when he was in the minors?

Glad to see Dye getting the love.
-
We can drop it but I asked him a simple question in a polite way so WTF?
-
I could use one as well, but the A's kicked the s*** out of the Royals in Kauffman Stadium this week. I wouldn't expect one.
-
I thought that's where you were headed. That's why I asked. Sounds good.
-
chw are you trying to build a case where if and when we lose the division we can all simply say, "It's Bobby Jenks' fault!" Not flaming. Just asking. Because if that is the case, it's pretty f***ing stupid. The season is a marathon and you'd have to look at all other contending teams and how many games their closer blew, etc.

I think the guy we need is Dunn. I think what we don't want to do is give up key minor league pieces for a rental. So that means we won't get Dunn.

Good memory. Mark Buehrle is all that is right about baseball.

The last two posts by cauf and quin are excellent. I respect both posts. Caufield makes excellent points and I agree we should at the least have a closer by committee, even give Putz the chance right now because he has earned it to close. What I don't agree with and argue vehemently (sp) is when people make quick rash bold statements blasting Bobby. Those I stand up against. I can't argue with anything cauf. said and you didn't have to list all these stats. My point is I've said for weeks I am in favor of Oz riding the hot hand so to speak. I have not been against closer by committee. But what gets me going is when people either just freak out at the blown save (s*** in game threads they were freaking out when Bobby would go 2-0 on a hitter or give up a baserunner and this was when he was automatic a few short weeks ago). I can't stand the simplistic bashing of a guy who fails on a given night and that's when I speak up. I like the last two posts a lot and they are of the anti Jenks variety. Anybody that simply roars and puffs their chest out and say they want Bobby to have his arm fall off or harm himself ... yes I will speak up against. I also really do feel people personally want him to fail. I mean when he was on that hot streak I was just waiting for his first blown save ... people even baited me in game threads saying, 'Greg you better hope Bobby saves this game.' People I truly believe want him to fail enough just so they can get rid of him from the closer's role and they dont have to think about Bobby anymore. That said, nice post, caufield. I also agree he may be fatter than usual, but when I pointed that out, I was ordered to quit calling him FAT BOBBY!!!! Yes there were several exclamation points. From what I can tell you are the first to point out how his fatness seems to be hurting the club (in terms of bunts, which especially showed up vs. Seattle. I said Wilbur Wood got bunted out of baseball in the thread where i was lambasted for calling him Fat Bobby). GO SOX!

Caufield I like your post. You make some great points. I never have a problem with posts like yours.

This is not a rip on any poster. I think it's cool to see Sox fans rip some other players besides ones on the Sox ... and those would be ones rumored to come to us in a trade. A good way to finally see rips of other players is to ask if we might want the guy.
-
Great post. I have wondered about that as well. I guess the acquisition of weak-armed Juan made it impossible to keep CQ in left unless he became DH. As I recall, CQ wasn't so bad in left.

Noodle is da man. Great great post. Animosity is a good word, a nice word compared to some of the bombs being tossed Bobby's way. If you check the posts during Bobby's hot save streak, I repeatedly pointed out there would be an amazing meltdown when he finally blew one. He's blown two and the eruption has been of the monumental variety. I've said all along I wouldn't mind if Ozzie let one of our other two capable relievers (Matt, Putz) close once in a while and now he's going to do that. Hopefully when Bobby gets used again he'll do well. Yes he got hit hard in Seattle. He actually hasn't pitched too well since the family emergency. I'd be willing to abide by starting a thread called Jenks hate and ordering everybody to put anti Jenks comments or pro Jenks comments in ONE FILE. But that would have to include the game threads or it wouldn't work. Many hate Jenks. A couple of us support what he's done. I think ALL Jenks comments should go in one thread.
-
Come on. What about all those games Jenks saved during our hot streak and his hot streak? How do you know Putz or Thornton wouldn't have blown the save if they were our regular closer. Jenks has a batch of saves. If somebody else had closed those games, would they have blown some of the ones he saved??? I say, of course. You probably say, no they would be automatic saves. How bout all the weak outs in April and May with runners on base in games by Kotsay and the boys? And Gordon? I love Gordon but a naysayer could have been all over his ass and blamed several losses on him. Or Teahen, Mr. Invisible Glove at third and automatic out early on. And CQ and all his early-season outs and the plays you thought he should make in right. The Jenks criticism is fine. But I think some of the haters should admit they just don't like overweight, goatee-riddled Bobby.
-
I'm a little surprised we didn't sign Cust after spring training and put him in AAA. That was a no risk deal. Maybe he's no better than Kotsay, but at the time I thought he was worth a shot.
-
I agree with Jenksy Cat. The what if game is not reliable.
-
The Tigers wet the bed against a bad Indians team. We won two of three versus Seattle which isn't bad. Hopefully the Sox will play better against the teams in the Central which will be the key to winning the division. The series in Minnesota really sucked; we've done better against KC of late; we usually do OK to good vs. Detroit and suck vs. Cleve.
-
I don't think it's fair to say one person ever costs a team a game. I can see your point where the closer is the final person to blow it, however.
-
What was the part to stop, the goat of the game? The rest of the post was OK? I'm responding to somebody talking about Jenks ... again. There are other reasons we lost the game. Baseball is not a one-man game which I pointed out. I'll go back and edit out the goat part.
-
Baseball is not a one-man game. The offense got two hits off a good pitcher. Then the Sox scored a run and a Seattle player executed a helluva bunt hit. After that Jenks got beat. I still say it's not a one-man game. The Sox bats sucked, Bobby sucked. We still won two of three which ain't bad.
