How many years ago? Those have been 2 nice guys to have around. I mean in my opinion Mark and Paulie have been pretty darn productive. Don't know what we could have gotten years ago that would adequately replace the enjoyment of those two for me. p.s. Glad to see others being involved in aggressive soxtalk rather than myself. I'm still trying to figure out how somebody can tell somebody "f*** you" on here and not get in trouble and I get in trouble for my posts, but that's just me. One other stream of consciousness comment as I watch the Cub game at work. ... It's nice to be having this discussion while the team is ... in first place. I mean there still is a chance it could be a special season. Though diehard Sox fans on here can't be too optimistic considering what we've already been through (horrible first two months; lousy efforts vs. Cleveland and Minnie; continuing s***tiness by some of the fans' former favorite players).

Only their team has no WS title and hasn't been as consistent a contender as we have been (I guess for a few years they were right there, though). Piniella? Highly respected when he was hired and now despised by Flub fans. GM? Looked like he once made some great acquisitions. Now all you hear is all the bad contracts they have. Gordon inexplicably went 2-for-15 in the Oakland series with no walks and no RBIs after having multi hit games in six of his previous eight games. I don't know how many times he struck out today, but he'd whiffed seven times in his previous four games. That's baseball, but that has to be frustrating to him after getting it going.

I know. The Royals would gladly give us somebody like Jose Guillen for Flowers straight up I bet, but I don't want to do that and I bet most Sox fans wouldn't want to do that. I bet KW would be a lot more willing to trade our top prospects for help had Peavy not gotten hurt. I could be way off base.

I did not get to see the game today. Judging from the box score, Hudson did not pitch well. What is the problem? Do you guys think he has the great great upside or are you concerned?

It's ok to have Omar starting at third, but he has to flip flop with Gordon in the lineup IMO. On the other hand, didn't somebody do a study saying positions in the lineup do not matter a bit?

You may be right about the doghouse. I'm thinking more than that, he simply loves Omar. He worships Omar's glove and Omar has had some hits as well. He's just not going to DH him because he also worships Kotsay and Jones. I'd say Kotsay a bit more than Jones.

If they are going to give us Fielder, my guess is the deal has to include Beckham with Hudson, Flowers for sure and maybe more. The GM will get run out of town if it's Viciedo in place of Beckham.

I predict Lilly and Viciedo will both play tomorrow. Guillen's defense is not very good any more. I think the Royals would try to rob us, since they are able to simply let him ride out the final year of his ill-advised contract. He's not a bad hitter still, though, when healthy. He's had some problems health wise again this year.

The lineup should be very interesting considering the consensus is the Sox look "tired" today. I still don't understand why Pierre and Omar have to play every single day. Would you guys want Jose Guillen for a rental the rest of the year? I'm sure the Royals, however, would try to rob us for said rental. I don't want him, but he's another bat the Royals are dying to get rid of since he's a headcase.
