5/26 GT: Sox @ Cleveland - 11:05am
I hate four game series on the road. Sox aren't good enough to win 3 or 4 so we are left hoping n praying for two.

Exactly. Why don't most people agree with us on this? You think Putz won't blow f***ing saves if given the job? My god.

But I thought at the time it was popular perception in the media we got Rios to win the division. And you have to admit there was a popular perception that if all went well with Peavy our rotation looked good for the playoffs. I know what you are saying though. That is all good analysis of the situation.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
THanks critic and little hurt. Discussion in this forum is more sane than topics about the Sox. Good stuff from you two.

I guess that makes sense, but the talk around here is he's pretty worthless. Just is kind of nonsensical to act like we'll get anything but a Class A stiff. I know the NL is worthless, but after the first weekend of interleague isn't the AL-NL series deadlocked? What is the all-time record in interleague play? Isn't it about even? I know the Cub-Sox series is about even.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I personally wouldn't mind seeing Thornton close some games. I wouldn't be mad if the 2 flip flopped roles. I'm not dead set wanting Bobby to close. I just don't understand the concern on days we win and he gets the final out even if he gives up runs before that final out.

Would you give up the same for Teahen to save that money? I'm guessing the answer is yes. I would think after the all star break the Sox will be trimming the payroll quite a bit. The firesale will be on if anybody is dumb enough to take some of these players. As great as Rios is playing, I would think they'd trade him as well and of course Peavy. Jerry may really want to trim the payroll with a team headed nowhere.

If Bobby is as bad as many of you say, why in the hell would anybody trade for him? I guess many of you would take anything for him to get rid of him. So it's going to be a trade where we get some Class A stiff for Bobby?

Good point, but when you are making that kind of money and failing it's tough to not take shots at them. For instance, some of us thought last year that the acquisition of Rios might put us over the hump to win the division and then we allegedly with Peavy returning in September had a rotation made for the postseason. The fact Rios was absolutely miserable at the plate and the fact we did not come close to winning the division made him an easy target. Now this year, Peavy is supposed to be our big time ace and he's been pretty bad. I think this year's team is so much worse on paper than last year's that Peavy shouldn't be roasted as much as Rios last year. Rios was supposed to be our big big acquisition that was going to help us squeak out a division title and set us up for October. Those of you who stuck with Rios deserve credit because a fresh start in April is apparently what he needed. What is it that Peavy needs? The all star break to regroup?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I don't understand why we can't use the argument of percentage of saves closed successfully when discussing a closer. I mean he had so many runs to work with and used 'em all but one and we win. What's so bad about that? The meltdown had we lost today would have been amazing cause this is a bad enough meltdown and we won. I'm not saying Jenks is a god, but today I'd think the focus would more be on Teahen finally contributing, isn't it two days in a row now and Kotsay again doing well. If those 2 guys do anything remotely positive it helps this team greatly even though I think this team's maximum success rate this season would be to be a .500 team. We ain't anymore than that.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
My point is he finished the game and we won the game. I didn't see it, but didn't he ultimately do a nice job to end it when he'd finally blown it to the point it was a one-run game? There are guys on the 2005 roster I didn't like much. I had my share of criticism for Uribe and was in failure of getting rid of him and he's proven me wrong since. He's continued his career. I also didn't like Everett. I also didn't like Harris, Gload, and Pablo. And I hated Vizcaino. I just don't see the point of burying Jenks when he finished the game that we won. He is normally not so good when he enters in a tie game or has a big lead at least it seems that way. --And I forgot to see some of the threads praising the heroes of today's game like Kotsay and Mark T. My bad. People have the right to bash Jenks for today, I was just pointing out in my case I won't because he finished and we won.
-
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
You guys that hate Jenks fail to consider the fact he normally gets the end result, the game saved. His track record seems to suggest he ain't so good when provided a tie game or huge lead. He did finish the f***ing game, right? We won, right? Why not look glass half full for a change? Kotsay, he of the .225 batting average who guys like me hate on, hit a home run. Teahen, the bum, did get two RBIs. Rios good again. It's like why would anybody even care Beckham sucked again today? We won the game and took 2-3 which is acceptable on the road. We win another series. Those are good signs for this bad team. Now we see if we lose all four in Tampa, win just one, or do the right thing and split. No way this team is capable of 3 of 4 or 4 in Tampa.

Peavy expresses concern about tired arm
Was this a joke? Shoulda put it in green. If it's not a joke, uh Peavy needs to pitch. He's been lousy this season.

Very very true. Gotta like the Lakers in game five. I think LA survives in seven only because of homecourt. When Nash has that pic and rol stuff running smoothly, the Suns can beat anybody.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
Is it a fluke Montreal scored so few goals in that series? Are you at all worried the Hawks won't win? It'd be a shame to not claim the Cup since we have home ice and are thus the favorites.

5/25 GT: Sox @ Cleveland - 6:05pm CDT CSN+
Clayton Richard has had four stellar outings in a row. I know I know, the NL sucks. BTW, the AL and NL are tied head to head this season, but I know, the NL sucks.

Way to suck for the first two months of the season, White Sox. You'd have to give this team a big, fat grade of D as we plod toward June.

Yankees? Mets? Cards? Phils? Red Sox?

5/25 GT: Sox @ Cleveland - 6:05pm CDT CSN+
Is Peavy a big bust? Will the Sox try to trade him to a contender as well? Just wondering? Somebody might take the contract. Sox continue to struggle. I wonder if we'll ever have a 5 game win streak the rest of our lives?

Phillies scouting Jenks and Putz
Yes but many relief pitchers outside of NY won't make it because the voters don't respect closers.
-
Phillies scouting Jenks and Putz
You won't be seeing many pitchers make the Hall of Fame in this current era. They won't be winning enough games and lasting enough years to win 300. Rivera will make it because of the NY media. Name any other "locks" for the Hall of Fame who pitch? Some of these pitchers who have fallen just short (Blyleven?) will look like superstars compared to this era's pitchers who won't be durable enough to win 300 or sniff 300.

My comments are in response to specific statements made by others in response to my comments. It's not like I'm just bringing up stuff to inflame. People then get all sidetracked and bring up stuff I never said. I'm responding to the fact "some" -- I never said all -- Sox fans devalue their own. I'll resist going over my entire argument one more time.
-
Phillies scouting Jenks and Putz
What about Kessenger, Beckert, and some of those s***ty starting pitchers? Cub fans worship a team of chokers. Beckert and Kessinger are still beloved. Some Sox fans "on here" simply devalue their own and constantly dog on players on that 05 team when if that happened in another city that has never won anything significant it simply would not be the case. People "cherish" what Crede and Pods contributed in hitting the key home runs in that series? Yeah right. Pods was a s***ty baserunner and Crede is scum around here "by many." Not all. Dye? He might as be a four-letter world "to many" Sox fans on here.

Just win, baby. No fans at the park; bad opponent; let's win. We got to start winning series. Win 2-3 here or all 3 and on to Tampa to try to split.

NBA playoffs thread
If I was Phil, I'd tell them immediately no thanks. I mean his team is up 2-1 in what could turn out to be a competitive series. Are the Bulls dumb enough to contact him now? What is NBA protocal (sp)? He's got a legitimate shot to win another title in sunny LA where isn't he still dating or married to Buss' daughter? Why would he come back to cold Chicago? Just to coach LeBron? Bulls will have to offer a pile pile pile of money, by far the richest contract ever given a coach me thinks. WW Wes will have to guarantee LeBron signing as well me thinks. -- Magic could make this interesting series. I didn't think either team played particularly well late, but the Magic get another game, at home, to try to rediscover what they had not so long ago. If they start to click again like in earlier rounds, watch out??
