White Sox @ Rangers
Name one loss in which you can't point to five stupid decisions by not only Ozzie but any manager who racked up an L that day? Blaming the manager for a loss is generally a cop out. If I watch a game and take notes I can f***ing guarantee you I can point to five controversial moves made my the losing manager. Some managers like Bevington are clowns and have no business being out there. Ozzie is no clown.

He's one week of managing from being the same bum in many's eyes as Oz. He'll make the same pitching moves and have lineups with Pierre in it and Kotsay in it. The next manage will have one advantage however. People may give him a free pass for a long time saying Ozzie screwed the team up so bad it'll take years to recover, etc. Why can't our fans just accept Ozzie? Do the fans always have to be mad about something? We won it in '05. And we've made the playoffs since then. He's the same f***ing manager.

Five years is a long time to suck. The Sox looked like they were going to be a team that could at least contend every year. We still have a good pitching staff; it shouldn't take five years to come back. The team needs to ride this out until the all-star break, then make a couple good trades/acquisitions to start fixing the lineup.

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?
I'm glad I'm not a walking cliche and always thnk firing the manager or playing the second-string quarterback is a good idea. Players win games, folks. Oz may have told KW what kind of team he wanted, but KW is the guy who puts the roster together. Oz didn't put a gun to his head and threaten to kill him if he didn't acquire some of the stiffs he acquired.

What makes him so good?

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?
It'll be some boring guy like Buddy Bell, somebody who won't ever say anything controversial and the team will still just be as good as the players. Nobody could manage this trainwreck of a roster to greatness. I'd bring Whitey Herzog out of retirement if he's under 90. I know he still lives in St. Looie. But rest assured it'll be one of those boring quotes like Trey Hillman (I didn't say Trey Hillman, but a boring persona) and the outspoken fans on this board will be just as pissed at the new skipper's lineups and in-game decisions. Ozzie has proven that with talent he can win; without talent he's as bad as the rest. He will get another managing job immediately. He has a f***ing strong track record no matter what his detractors say. Oh, I forgot, our division is pathetic and his success here should be taken for granted. Give me a break. oz is as good as anybody we'll bring in.

April Catch All White Sox Thread
He's not the man, but I guess that's besides the point. Uh, Paulie is the man. Buehrle is the man. No way is Beckham the man. Ozzie is trying to tell him to relax, that he's not the man and shouldn't feel the pressure of being the man.

White Sox @ Rangers
Makes sense. Might have to take our lumps until around all star break when teams start making moves. At that point, maybe a trade can be made to address some of the lineup weaknesses without gutting our pitching staff. Hate to be Kenny. Until then he should just ride this out, unless he wants to bring some guys up, rush 'em up from the minors. As we ride it out, there's always the chance Beckham, Lexi, CQ get hot and we'll be at least a mediocre team. Oz should just shut up from now til all star break and let this thing play out in the dull fashion it deserves.

What's wrong with Jake Peavy?
Is Peavy always this bad in April?

White Sox @ Rangers
If almost everyone knew, then why didn't Kenny say anything? Does Ozzie have mystic power over all human beings? A lot of people, including many on this site, picked the Sox as a team to win the division just a month ago. Look at that thread again. No, not everybody thought it was obvious this roster couldn't compete, mostly because of the starting pitching to go with Thornton and Jenks. The team sucks balls. If people want to get rid of Ozzie, by all means do so. It's pretty silly to think he's any different a manager than he was in 05. Oh I forgot. That team didn't need a manager. That team could have won with anybody, including Bevington. And don't say I'm living back in 05. Like I said, Ozzie is a wealthy man and I don't care if they fire him. He'll do just fine the rest of his life counting his money. But I truly believe he's as good as anybody else the Sox or any team could get.

White Sox @ Rangers
Good post, but it's becoming pretty obvious The Cell will be lifeless this summer. Whether the team can be rebuilt in short order is anybody's guess. Even though Peavy has been horses***, I still think we have a B-plus rotation and two good relievers. We have an above average hitting first baseman and good prospects at second and short and still a good prospect in right field and an average but aging catcher. Aside from that, what do we have except s***? Team needs to be rebuilt. If you want to do it with a manager other than Oz, fine, go for it. I still think KW is just as responsible as Oz.
-
White Sox @ Rangers
I just don't know what you want him to do. The lineup sucks. This team is very very bad. Did I miss something? Who do you want held accountable? Oz has more money than I'll ever sniff. I don't care if they fire him. He'll still be rich. I just don't know why people care so much about firing managers who aren't named Bevington.
-
White Sox @ Rangers
Who cares? Oz is going to get fired like all managers and coaches do. Earl Weaver, Whitey Herzog, Joe Torre, Bobby Cox couldn't do anything with this horses*** roster.

Which ex-Sox Player Would You Want Back for 2010 Team?
Pods for Pierre. Dye for the rotating DH thing (I realize Dye won't agree to this, but if he would have).
-
Pods
Pods just hit into a game ending DP, chosing to swing at a lousy 1-2 pitch instead of whacking two meaty strikes when he wasn't on his heels. Pods and Pierre both sucked immensely tonight. I just wish Oz would bat Pierre ninth. Don't know if it would matter much, but it would make me feel better. Bat him ninth and let him hit whatever he hits down there. I could give a s*** who replaces him at leadoff. Stick Beckham up there. As far as this ... "They got Crede for pennies because he WAS finished, and they absolutely lost something when he went down because they counted on him as being the starter and had to shift people around like brendan harris and nick punto out of utility roles where they excel, into starting roles where they are exposed. Garland may have started opening day, but the guy is on his 4th team in 2 years after the White Sox, thats not exactly a great track record." Well, the Twins still made the playoffs and this move didn't cost the Twins the playoff series. They weren't going to win it just because they had to adjust to Crede being out. As far as Garland, true we may not need him, but he's still serviceable. Don't know why Milkman said that. Not everybody's opinion is the same. I don't always agree with people but it' snot "arguing." If you think you are right, fine. I never said Pods was an all-star. I just like him, espeicially when compared to Juan. If they move Juan to ninth in the order I won't hate him nearly as much, because he belongs ninth on a big-league roster.

GT: CWS @ TEX, Tues 4/27, 7:05pm CT
Ozzie's penance is he has to watch Juan Pierre hit and field the rest of the year or until Oz gets replaced or quits. Juan is incapable of driving in a run it appears. Nice game, Juan.
-
Pods
Minnie got Crede for pennies and didn't lose anything by having him there til his back told him he truly was finished. Garland has still been a serviceable pitcher. He started Opening Day this year. And I guess if Dye wasn't going to sign for cheap, it was OK to let him go, but if he was willing to stay for cheap, yes I'd have kept him too.
-
Pods
I did love Joe Crede as well. What's wrong with Joe Crede pre-back injury?
-
Pods
I like the Pods of the last season and so far this season. I am not looking at career stats. I am looking at the Pods I saw last year and this year. He is hitting .385 with no homers and 8 RBI with OBP of .453 and .400 SLG and OPS 853 He has stolen eight bases and been caught once. Last year in 132 games he hit .304 with 30 SBs and was caught 13 times. I don't think he's an all star necessarily but he was our team MVP last year and is tied with Jose Guillen for KC's team MVP in April. I just think he'd have been a better option than Pierre.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
Great win, Hawks. I wasn't as worried tonight. It wasn't the elmination game and I was pretty confident throughout. Nashville gave the Hawks quite a fight in that series. Think Vancouver will play us even tougher? Think it'l be another 4-2 series win for Chicago? Hawks playing pretty well on the road of late.
-
Pods
Well you tell me then. You actually like Pierre? Or are you just trashing Pods? I think when healthy Pods is great. Before I say any more, tell me what you think of Pierre. The current Juan Pierre is a joke. The outfielders play him as shallow as they would a decent 12 year old Little Leaguer.

Josh Fields out for season with hip surgery
Yeah and that's why I don't care about the baseball draft. Too many busts. Give me wins in September over draft position anyday.
-
What's wrong with Jake Peavy?
I should have said inexperienced then, not young. At any rate, Peavy needs to start acting like an ace, though starting pitching is the least of this team's worries.

April Catch All White Sox Thread
We've got several guys who should be batting ninth and AJ is one of them.
