  1. So you want Nix to DH over Omar? Fine. The lineup still sucks. Magical Mark Teahen in theory should plaster the ball tonight off Meche, ditto AJP. And Paulie should loft a few of his meatballs out of the park. And Becks and Alexei should rock.
  2. So basically you all are mad at one slot in the lineup. Nix for Omar? What lineup do you magically want with our personnel that will be any better? Any game with Omar in it is one too many, but same for Kotsay. But to b**** incessantly when just one slot in the order is dumb seems stupid to me. Just one guy gets you all worked up?
  3. In my case it was because I had high hopes for the team and thought his addition could put us over the top. Rios was so bad that it was easy to hate him. It also was hard waiting for Peavy to get healthy and actually get on the mound. With the team so boring this year and so many lousy hitters it's hard to build up the hate for any individuals. For some reason, Pierre is so weak at the plate it's more laughable than anger at him. No reason to hate Beckham or AJ. Teahen is more shaking of the head and disgust thanhate. It was easy to hate Rios because he was supposed to add a lot and did nothing last year as our team faltered. Good for him that he's doing well. I took a week off the Sox so I haven't studied how he's been doing.

If he wanted three years from Sox, that's too many. But two years of Pierre is way too many as well.
  5. When does the player face responsibility for his own suckiness? Gordon has been hurt a lot and hasn't done squat when healthy.
  6. I wonder what the stat is on a team's record the first series with a new manager hired in season. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Royals kick butt. Who cares, though. Talk is cheap. Play ball.
  7. There's no way we can suck against Meche who is horses***. And I'm not worried about jinxing us with that statement because it's not worth worrying about jinxes with this horses*** Sox team. I can't imagine Meche shutting anybody down.
  8. The Royals are dysfunctional, but Alex's problems are caused by injury and Alex so far. He's just not very good.
  9. Isn't that the copout excuse for our whole team this year? They all feel the pressure? Didn't Oz say that in one of the rants? What crap. Play ball. Are we really eight or nine back in the loss column? This season sucks. Boring.
  10. Kenny might as well start doing as much wheeling and dealing as he can as soon as he can. There's no sense waiting on this team to start excelling. Patience is a virtue but the Sox have stunk for a while now, not just this season. Might as well start making massive changes cause at least that would be interesting. I'd keep Thornton and assume he can close for a few seasons and keep Beckham and at least three of the four group of Buehrle, Floyd, Peavy and Danks, and wheel and deal with everybody else on the roster available as well as our prospects. Have some fun with it cause the Sox haven't been much fun for a while now.
  11. Bat Gordo ninth, but sending him down to play Nix is not a good idea. Actually I'd bat Gordon eighth and Juan ninth.
  12. That is not a good idea because Nix and Omar and Lilly as the replacement is so bad it's laughable.
  13. I don't think it's cliche to discuss players and their performances. They are the ones who win and lose games. And in Teahen's case I think he's a utility guy type player at best.
  14. 100 pitches? I think Peavy can handle that load for the money he's making.
  15. What is with all the threads and comments about Ozzie's managing? Has this board become so cliche that's all we can discuss? Don't you realize he is managing the roster the best anybody could? You can't pitch one or two relievers that you happen to love every f***ing circumstance. There are a s***load of guys not hitting meaning you can't bat everybody ninth. Ozzie is not TERRY BEVINGTON! Why do so many want to run him out of town. The team f***ing sucks. He is a good manager. Do you guys want revolving managers? A different one every year? Because any manager we get you are going to second guess moves when we lose.
  16. Great post, Kalapse. I'd say he's probably one of the worst players in the entire league.
  17. Forget Damon, who was a long shot. Roast me over the coals, we'd be way better off with Pods. He had a better chance at keeping Pods than getting Damon. Pods was one of our best players last year and has been KC's best player this year by far.
  18. Let's face it: KW and Oz thought our starting pitching would be so good that our horrid lineup wouldn't matter this year. You have to admit that's all anybody talked about, especially after we got Peavy. It made it easy for them to not want Thome and/or Dye and no regular big bopper at DH and no stud at third, just a utility type guy in Teahen. It was a smug attitude and it was like no matter what crap we throw out there on the field we'll be fine because of the starting pitching. The lineup is horrid and dull and because of this the Cell will be empty and KW and Oz and whomever went for this strategy could be responsible for a financial disaster in terms of paying customers, outrageous parking fees lost, concessions lost, etc. How we rebuild from this mistake in thinking ... now that is the question. IMO the Sox should immediately be addressing this question. How can the Sox fix this mess of a team in the least painful way possible and the quickest way possible?
  19. Sox continue to resemble a bad bad baseball team. Should be interesting to see the firesale of all the guys who make a decent buck as the season progresses. Jerry will be dropping salary once we are 12 back; if we don't have a chance to win, he'll want to save some cash.
  20. Fair questions. On the first one ... most managers at home bunt the runner into scoring position in a tie game late. With two outs to play with, you should be able to get a hit and win. On the second one ... I guess Santos shoulda come in over Putz. Santos has been great all year. If he's rested which I guess he is, good call there. But is there any guarantee he'd have fared any better? Why couldn't Putz get the job done? is he horses***? I still blame Putz some. Why did he leave Mark in too long? Wasn't his pitch count OK? Has Jenks sucked every time he's entered a tie game? If so, why? I guess if Bobby's track record is that he fails 80 percent of the tie games he enters, then Oz failed big time putting him in again. But again, why can't he get his head out of his ass and do the job??
  21. It's obvious you and I have a big difference of opinion in the outcome of a game. I tend to blame the players, the talent and the execution while realizing there are 10 to 20 decisions every game by Oz or any manager that can be second guessed. If he takes Mark B out and the reliever gives up the hit, then who do you blame? Prolly Ozzie cause he'd have brought in the reliever you don't want. What if Mark, who is a veteran with not a terrible pitch count, would have gotten out of the inning. That could have happened. Buck hits 2 home runs. Buck sucks. I do not blame Ozzie for that. Putz gives up the big bomb. Hell, Oz could have had some other pitcher in there. I blame the guy who tossed the gopher ball. Jenks never pitches well in a tie game he shouldn't have been in there. Why the f*** can't he get through the inning? I blame Bobby. As far as what Ozzie brings ... I firmly am convinced he knows the game of baseball. The talent we have this year, especially on offense, sucks big dog. Ozzie haters can say, "Well Ozzie wanted this horses*** lineup. He wanted Kotsay and Juan and Teahen." Well, fine. If Ozzie truly is the manager/GM, then maybe he should be fired for bringing in bad players. The only way I see him deserving being fired is if he is the GM/manager and not just the manager. I still say he had the input but KW makes the calls there. I think Ozzie bunting the runners over tonight was the right call late. Two guys couldn't get a f***ing hit, including Oz's boy Juan. I just think Ozzie knows the game of baseball and makes the moves most all managers make. I believe he bringing a lot to the organization. Some blame managers; I blame the players unless I feel the manager is a buffoon like Bevington. I think ozzie is a good baseball mind, thus I blame the players.
  22. It's weird to see a home run to left in the Cell and so few fans in the stands. Reminds me of my youth when nobody went to Old Comiskey. The Cell is gonna be a tomb this summer.
  23. You can't? It's easy to blame the manager so many fans do. I tend to blame the players. Nice pitch, Mr. Putz.
  24. Blackhawk fever. They are toying with Vancouver. Another goal. Beautiful passing.
  25. The Blackhawks are so good, it's scary; 4-2. Power play thing of beauty.
