Jenks takes issue with complaints about weight
Good point. They probably told him exactly what treatment he needed at the local rehab place. I figured from Bobby's quote he thought it was a more synister motive of the Sox, but you are probably right. Bob sounds like he speaks his mind when reporters ask him stuff.

Jenks takes issue with complaints about weight
Strange they didn't want him on the road trib to have professionals on the team staff treat him. Maybe it is a sign he gawn. Or do they save pittance of money by leaving him home?

Is it time to sign Quentin?
Is he always going to be bumped and bruised the way he crowds the plate and a.) will continue to get plunked over and over and b.) the way he hammers that ball off his lower leg all the time fouling pitches off his body? I like CQ a lot, but wow, terrible luck health wise.

My guess is if one of us posters had made this post we'd have been eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. How come everybody's so quiet in responding?

**Official Twins vs. Yankees Thread**
Very true JPN; the Twinks were so overmatched. Yet think of all the times we played them and the Sox seemed to overmatched or at least guaranteed to lose in the dome. Crazy.

Insider Rumor Mill
If the Sox are out of it in July in our cruddy division, people will want heads to roll. It will be ugly.

**Official Twins vs. Yankees Thread**
Man, three and out for Minny. Our division gets owned in the playoffs for second year in row. Hope it demoralizes both Minny and Detroit for next year. Minny does all that work for a playoff flop; Detroit with the amazing choke job. Time for us to rule and make some noise in the playoffs.

Thome wants to return to Chicago
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 04:23 AM) I would love to have him back in the organization if he's interested in a career AFTER baseball, but not on this team as a player next year. At least he's used to a reduced role in only pinch hitting for LA. I can't imagine us giving him the usual 500 at bats if we sign him. I wonder who out there we would target for lefthanded power besides Jimmy. I wouldn't mind moving in a different direction at DH for change sake. Or if Jimmy wants to sign on the cheap, fine.

Wow, that is about it. I also like Thome and would like him back; like Oz, don't blame Walker too much but wouldn't object if he was canned, am all for Freddy but don't want him to get fat, not crazy about Torres, want to upgrade from Castro as backup, hate the results of that 10 game road trip, not crazy about Getz but don't hate him, love Beckham and admit I panicked when he struggled early, don't want Bradley on our team, think KW is OK even though I didn't like losing Richard, don't like Randy Williams or most Royals relievers, respect AJP and Paulie, still think KW acquired Rios with ideas of winning it this year as well as the future, like Peavy's mound presence and just wish he could have pitched sooner, love Buehrle and Bobby.

I just don't see value in a post berating another poster. Whatever.

He puts a gun in his mouth and shoots it? Classy. Nobody can ever say I don't respect others' opinions on here. I respect them all.

Why? Is your opinion that much better than mine and anybody else who dares stand up for Wise? Just asking what you meant by that. I'll never back off on my feeling Wise is a very good option at last man on a roster. If you are saying your opinion is the only one that matters then you are mistaken.

**Official Cardinals vs. Dodgers Thread**
Very true. Think about the shock in Cardinal land. Three and out. And all of Cardinal nation has to be dissatisfied. Shows you anything can happen. Three and out after that kind of regular season? I wonder if any of their fans are blaming Tony.

Treasure or Trash?
We need a sabermetrician to help us out on your assertion. How many times is Dotel the bad Dotel when the first batter gets on base. I don't see how a manager can use a "one batter rule" on a reliever, but I do agree when he's bad you often can tell right away. Do the stats back you up, though.

White Sox 2009: Scott Podsednik
I didn't think CQ would move to right, but that does make more sense. I figured the fact Rios played some right this year when Pods was in center was the way Oz will go next year. Pods as we all know isn't too good in center. Like Cowley wrote, gets a bad read on the ball. Rios for all his offensive faults gets a great read.

Roberts/Figgins ... are they destined to be White Sox as much speculation there always is about them?

I agree he should be gone. I would say for a guy considered a total liability, he's been a decent member of the White Sox. I don't understand why so many people hate a No. 25 roster guy; or care about him that much. I am tempted to point out the names of some guys who deserve a lot of criticism for their play this year, but seem to get a free pass by many. Wise at least did his job reasonably well; he was a decent No. 25 man; outfield sub, sub with speed. Oh wait ... the guys that failed have track records. Wise has none. And on it goes. I don't know why you say Wise isn't fast. Especially on our team he looked like Edwin Moses in his prime compared to most of our plodders. Another reason he was good to have around.
-
Dewayne Wise Declares Free Agency
Why? His speed. He can pinch run, steal a base. Add some speed to a slow team. Let's say Paulie gets a hit in a tie game in the ninth and we want Wise in to run. Wise can run. His defense. He can come in the latter innings and help in that regard. Let's say somebody is trying for a perfect game. He can come in and sub for Pods in the ninth and maybe save that perfect game. Or if we lead by one in the ninth. I do not want him back; I'm just saying he's not worthless. The fans' hatred of him alone is a good enough reason to not bring him back. We don't need the distractions. Fans booed him; let him go.

Sun-Times' Cowley: If I Were Ken Williams...
I think a lot of his stuff could be classified as intelligent. And entertaining. Say what you want about his "easy" job. It's still a lot of hours and a lot of travel and dealing with volatile personalities on a daily basis. No matter how you slice it, he probably works 80 to 90 hours a week and gets paid for 40 and how many of us can say that? I like him.
-
White Sox 2009: Scott Podsednik
We're gonna go with CQ in left, Pods in center and Rios in right? On paper, lotta question marks in that outfield. Speed in center and right, though. All up to CQ to provide some power and stay healthy.

This No. 25 man has contributed us to winning games. What part of that statement don't you believe? I've cited some games he's helped us win this year and last. You think his defense and speed can't help a team in the latter innings? Or as a spot starter? Give me a thorough analysis of all No. 25 players; I believe Wise will not be the worst by a long shot. I just don't agree he is a worthless major leaguer. He is not worthless. He's not a starter; he's a damn good sub. I pray he doesn't come back cause I'm sick of people blasting him when all he does is his job. I hope he's gone as well.

Sun-Times' Cowley: If I Were Ken Williams...
If Jenks goes, Thornton is the closer and we have not one reliable set up guy. Hopefully KW can find somebody to fill that role or go with Hudson. I'm not too high on Torres.

Small moments?? My god. Those were all huge moments. I agree he's not a starter. I do not agree with those who say he doesn't deserve to be a 25th man. He has some value in that role. Are all 25th people on a roster stars? Wise can help a team. Is he a 400 at bat guy? God no.
