Thanks Soxfan. That 76 team was horrid.

I feel Fathom's pain. Going to that debacle. What's it like at the Cell when the team is getting clubbed like that? Is it dead silent? Are fans just talking about how bad the team is or joking about winning it all just 2 years ago?
-
This team is pretty darn bad. This begs the question. What's the worst team in "modern" Sox history? Please name the team and give me names of some players on that team. I wonder if at this point of the season this team could beat that team.
-
Yeah, but "just letting them pitch" can be pretty ugly. I mean we could win 40-50 games if we completely retool the whole pitching staff. If those two guys plus Danks and Floyd are four of our five starters, we wouldn't win 50 games.
-
Can you believe the scores of these 2 games? Pound for pound the Sox are the worst team in baseball two years after being the best. That is simply imposible to believe!!! Man, there are so few new threads on the site. Where oh where have the new threads gone ... oh where oh where can they be?
-
That was a ridiculous decision to let Hall play hurt. To see such a big guy be a singles hitter is sad. Hope he's not around next year.
-
You made the right call Forrest. What a horrible game this has been. Schilling is killing the weak-ass Sox lineup. I do commend you for going to Game One. Our fans have been awesome this year supporting this horrible horrible team.
-
The only hope for next year is if the long ball returns (we need lively balls) because you said it all, we have no speed. Crede will be back and Fields will be in the outfield going with all those other slow baserunners you mentioned. It's home run or bust for this team offensively. I hope baseball goes back to the live ball next year. p.s.This might be the easiest win of Schilling's career tonight.
-
Why am I watching this game? I must go and buy a 12 pack to continue. Congratulations White Sox on fielding this piece of s*** team this season. What an embarrassment.
-
Agreed. And we've now added another lousy pitcher to the group for next year: Myers.
-
Garland strikes me as kind of a flake. The fact the veterans gave up long ago, him included, makes me think he can bounce back next year if the Sox put together a team that can get off to a good start and look like a contender. It's obvious he's given up on this season.
-
Re. Garland, You can't judge anything right now about Garland and the others. The team is a wasted piece of s*** this season. The veterans gave up long ago. I don't know who you want in your rotation, but Garland is as good a pitcher to plug in there as anybody else you are going to come up with. Last place ... get used to it. They're gonna be there a while.
-
One thing we know for sure. If Thome joins another AL team, especially in our division, he'll whack about an average of a homer a game versus the Sox.
-
Considering he's made some nice catches of late and has some good games, the question remains, is he a starter next year or not?
-
Brian Anderson sure looked like a player in his uniform. Too bad he couldn't hit a lick. Another hyped prospect probably won't hit for squat.
-
Chalk this loss up to the bullpen again. I can see why Myers was dumped by his previous team. Submarine lefty? Give me a break. Nice comeback but we were down by too many runs against a similarly s*** team.
-
Oh, I didn't understand. I thought you wanted Garland gone. I agree he's been bad at times but my argument of keeping him and not dealing him was the fact there are not a lot of consistent 3-4-5 starters in the game today. I mean look at Mike Mussina's horses*** outing tonight. My god. There are a lot of mediocre pitchers out there, folks.
-
Kalapse ... my question to you is what pitchers nowadays are better No. 3 starters than Garland? Who can you get in baseball that is consistent besides the aces? I mean I know what you are saying, but what I am saying is Garland is as good a No. 3 or 4 as anybody you'll find. Garland is a damn fine pitcher in the "non-ace" category. How can you deny that? What pitchers would you prefer?
-
That's strange. Garland has had some dominant performances in his Sox career. Dominant. The problem I have with those who want to dump Garland is like many of you said ... who do you replace him with? I mean the Sox aren't going to find 5 Johans out there. Everybody has bad outings in modern day baseball. Garland has shown me plenty to say he's a good pitcher, not just a slightly above average pitcher. He's had some GREAT outings. How can you deny that??
-
Nice win tonight. This team is so weird. Two decent games in a row. Granted the foe is not so good, but the team looked good. Maybe Owens will be good. What a great catch in center and had 3 hits last night. Richar homered again. Maybe he's decent. Lotsa decisions for Kenny.
-
I wish he'd have thrown the high heat again, like the one pitch Gathright took, or buried a curveball. Gathright was on all those pitches Bobby threw, though. s***, he probably would have walked if Bobby would have done as I suggested. It really was a good at bat. Great feat, Bobby Jenks. It's a record that may be tied, but will never be broken.
-
Keep Garland. The Sox can't get rid of everybody if they hope to avoid fourth place again next year. Or last place. He's a good pitcher. If he keeps getting shelled they ought to consider shutting him down til the spring.
-
My gawd, you're right. Even backup catcher is a big time necessity. If KW can clean up this mess in one offseason I will be amazed and very happy. We're possibly the second worst team in the AL. How can he clean up this mess?
-
I also could care less about draft picks. Look who the Royals signed this year. Is there any guarantee a high school kid is going to hit in the bigs??? No way.
-
I know it's bad to over-react concerning young prospects, but my gawd Owens just swings through the ball so many times. Whiff. Ditto Richar who is starting to resemble Bee Bee Richard. The Sox have so many holes for next year as they get passed by the Royals in the standings. I don't know what KW is going to do. There's the potential for one of the worst teams in Sox history if the starting rotation starts to pitch the way Jon pitched today and Jose has pitched and Danks has pitched. A glass half full guy would see positive signs in Richar, Owens, Fields. A glass half empty guy would see bad defense in Fields and a lotta strikeouts in all our young hitters. Man I don't know about this team. But I am starting to think Owens can't hit.
