Don't see why you are optimistic about the offense after that horses*** effort today at the plate. What a joke of a team. At least they lost for you guys who want 'em to lose every day. You guys that want 'em to lose have a lot in common with Cubs fans right now. You want the Sox to lose. Congrats.

Tick tick tick. Time is running out on Jimmy. Hope he gets hot and reaches the milestone this season at home.

This is where we disagree. To me there is a big difference between 66 wins and 86 wins. 86 wins means it was a decent season. My gawd, to some I guess we are at the point unless we have a shot at the playoffs we should just be the worst team in baseball. Sports for me will never be that. I would rather have the Bears contend this year, then lose their final four games and get a s***ty draft pick than lose every game and get No. 1. I'm just saying maybe Gload as the fourth outfielder would have actually hit .290 or .300, put the ball in play and maybe by example help the lineup. I also understand where you draft pick people are coming from, but I really don't understand your position. And it frustrates me (I know nobody cares) to read comments in the game threads from Sox fans so happy when we lose in embarrassing fashion again like tonight (4 hits).

And tickets one generation ago according to that video on old Comiskey cost about 8.50. 8.50 for a beer is beyond belief except in a strip bar in Vegas. Insane. Insane.

Too bad Danny couldn't bat in all nine spots in the order.

Thome, Konerko, out after out after out. Nice job, Sox. Four whole hits. Way to adjust.
-
Wow four whole hits for the Sox so far tonight.

It's called a difference of opinion, milkman. It's what makes the world go round. -
Awesome, thanks for posting. I remember going to so many games there. The last game, however, was so weird. It was a cold September night and the Sox played Cleveland and it was soggy and cold and Cleveland led 7-1 in the seventh and the crowd was so small, and I said to my brother, 'Let's go.' I patted the chair, took a long look out at the park and left. Didn't feel like crying, but man it was sad. Hard to describe, but we had great seats for many years and to hear the crack of the bat in that place was amazing when the park was full (which was not too often). My brother knew I never liked to leave games early, never did it, but that night it seemed appropriate for some reason. We listened to the rest of game on the car radio and the score never changed. Bad bad game on a wet night.

I read all the posts and they all are respectful and thought provoking. Santo's post, however, is the one I agree with most. At least we agree to disagree on this one. I totally realize losing may help us get a better draft pick. But as I pointed out in the game threads, I could give a s*** about draft picks. I don't want to lose games. Winter sucks. I love baseball season. I want the Sox to win. Like somebody posted, maybe Fields will win a few games with home runs. Who's to say that won't help his development??? Maybe Richar getting a winning hit will spark him to greatness. I just want to win games. Nothing will change my mind and I won't change those who think opposite. I still think this has been a good post for respectful discussion of totally different points of view. -
Good. Ozzie ain't to blame for this mess of a season. He should fire some assistants, however, to send a message. GO OZ!
-
Some Sox fans in the game threads differ with me in opinion on this. I want the Sox to win tonight and every night because I am a die hard fan, I live for the season and this is my team. I'm embarrassed by losing. I hate losing. Some other fans want us to lose tonight and every night so we'll get the No. 1 draft pick. I want to know if I am a fool. Do you want the Sox to win ... or lose each game the rest of the way since the team is going nowhere fast?? Thanx.
-
I wouldn't. Gload at least sprays the ball to all fields and might have been nice to insert in the lineup this year at times.
-
Great post. The Royals' GM is laughing. MacDougal and Thornton are trash. Players I mean. They probably are great individuals but as players they are worthless. Just let 'em go. And Buckwheat also. He's the worst of the 3.
-
I'm glad his hit was key. I'll still say 1-for-6 is definitely not a good day.
-
Why not? Reinsdorf owes it to the fans who should call the Better Business Bureau to complain about their bang for the buck this year.
-
Great post, Seal, one of the best of the year. I was thinking today about how this team has so many glaring weaknesses, I'd think odds of a loss are monumental every given day. The hope was MacDougal and Thornton would be the guys to get it to Jenks. Instead the Royals rejects were totally overmatched with their wildness and meatball pitches. Boone was serviceable at times and has shown some potential but also has his share of big time failures. As far as grades this year I'd give MacDougal a D-minus; Thornton a D-minus; Boone a C; Wasserman a C to Cminus; Buckvich an F; Myers a D; Haeger when he was up a D; Jenks an A-plus.
-
If we want to contend, we need to sign Torii Hunter caliber type players. I love Rowand but would rather have Hunter and A-Rod. This organization needs to act like a big money WS champion not shoot for cheap alternatives like Richar, Erstad, etc.
-
Who cares about next year's draft? GO SOX! Everytime you guys make dumbass posts about the draft after a victory I'm going to make my own dumbass post about how happy I am we won. Just curious. Why did you give Thome cheers in your game recap? My box score said he was 1-for-6. Did he get the hit that broke the game open or something? One for six is not exactly good.

September 2 -- White Sox vs. Cleveland
greg775 replied to Flash Tizzle's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Did the Count really walk six guys? Nonetheless he musta pitched well. Didn't see the game. A victory? -
Hmmm the way he's playing in Philly he looks like a guy a team would want to sign for next year. Yet we just assume the cheap ass White Sox couldn't afford him.
-
Wouldn't it suck, yet be just like this Season From Hell for poor Jim to hit No. 499 then wrench his back and have to get it next April? Man in a normal year he'd hit five homers easy in September. Can he do it in this hexed season though?
-
Oz probalby should have blamed himself more, but he did say if he's the reason then fire him. He sort of threw himself under the bus also IMO, but maybe not enough. I still don't see how anybody can argue what he said. He didn't name any player specifically. It's amazing how many games I've seen on TV this season veterans and rookies alike couldn't move runners or get a key hit to save their life.
-
Good point. Unofficially we are the laughing stock of baseball right now. Adding A-Rod to the team actually could vault us back to contention PROVIDED we kept everybody else. Getting rid of others like Paulie, Thome, AJP, Garland, Mark to afford A-Rod would not solve anything.
