Great move. This should tell all the underachievers Oz is in charge for some time to come. Now KW needs to get his act together and fix the roster.

SADDEST, MOST PATHETIC RACE IN THE GAME
-
Are you serious? For a No. 1 draft pick who like some astute poster said we'll likely be too cheap to sign? I know a lot of you played baseball in high school and college. Have you ever considered tanking a game in your life? I wanted to win every single game when I took the field. I want the sox to win every night. I don't understand this obsession with the draft. Why aren't you talking about trades and free agent signings? Who gives a s*** about the baseball draft??? I am embarrassed that the Sox, who won it all 2 years ago now are the laughingstocks of baseball. I want to win EVERY GAME we play against the Royals. I can't believe my fellow sox fans want them to lose every game. Amazing.
-
I'm not blaming those who want the Sox to lose for the team being horrible. Try answering this for me. If we wind up the worst team in baseball which is likely, we get the No. 1 pick and all of you will be so happy waiting for the draft. Chance are the team will suck again next year. Let's say the team goes 1-10 to open the season. So now are you going to root against the Sox every day next season starting in mid April, and the season after that and after that, just so they can keep getting top draft picks? I prefer to win every and any game possible and hope the GM signs some free agents and makes some decent trades for a change. The Royals have stunk for years. You think their No. 1 picks have been that good?
-
Don't you see how dysfunctional it is to want your team to be the worst? Sad.
-
Cub fans want two things: To win and for us to lose. I don't see how anybody who likes the White Sox can rest knowing their team a.) lost today and b.) continues to disgrace itself in regards to the rest of the teams. Just 2 years after winning it all, the team is vying to become the worst team of all. How can anybody want that to happen is beyond me. To give up like many of you did with 5 or so weeks left ... to write off each and every game is amazing to me.
-
Sad we continued to disgrace ourselves on the field. Sad we are closer to being the worst team in the league. Sad that Cub fans are happy that they won and we lost both. Sad that so many Sox fans have much in common with Cub fans these days in wanting us to lose.

I like your post and thank you for the stats and names. But how do you know we still wouldn't have drafted those said players had we won 80 games, etc.? My point is the draft is a crapshoot. I don't care about the draft. I'd rather win. And yes I am mad we didn't win tonight. Good post by your name. I am formerly Mt. Greenwood (Brother Rice, Mt. Greenwood LL alum); currently relatives in Lisle.

Why are you so high on DeJesus. All I can tell you from living in KC is that the fans here consider him a slight disappointment. I don't mind the guy and wouldn't mind seeing him in a Sox uniform, but I wouldn't give up much for him, that is for sure. And the Royals will want a lot. He is not that good IMO.
-
Yeah, he's not too bad. I notice a lot of people on here talk about salary. Is he worth the money he'll command? No. So sign Hunter, who will be worth it.
-
What would our payroll be if we added Hunter, traded for a Renteria-caliber shortstop (or is Renteria a free agent?) and traded for a veteran middle reliever. I would be willing to trade Vazzy for one of the parts mentioned. Wouldn't this be a good step toward fixing the team? New cf in Hunter. New ss. Good middle reliever from somewhere, trade either Vazzy or Garland.
-
DeJesus is pretty good, but he's no Beltran. For one, he can't steal a base. He's a little better than a plodder, but by no means fast. I like him, but the verdict is still out on him as far as his "star" quality. He has 6 hrs and 54 ribbies in a lot of at bats. Nine steals. That's Iguchi like speed at best. He might step up on a better team, but as of now, he is not an all star.

The perfect scenario would be Thome hits a game-winning home run after the delay.

How bout Torii Hunter and trade for a ss and acquire a veteran set up guy. That won't improve us? -

I could care less if we pick 2 or 10. I want to win every game, then sign free agents in the offseason. I could give a s*** about draft picks. The day I root against the White Sox is the day I hope I'm dead. Is that clear enough? If you want to celebrate the White Sox losing, good for you. -
Great line, chisox fan. Amen, brotha. How many more losses before Bears fans want all losses so we get the No. 1 draft pick? What's the over under?

Congratulations to all of you who want the Sox to lose. Go grab a beer. Celebrate. It's a great day when the White Sox lose, right? -
I don't despise Boone, in fact after Bobby he'd be my second reliever. But like you said, just for one lefty batter. He has been clobbered a lot this season. He has potential, I'm just not sold.

Losing is for losers, man. Give me a win anyday! Go Sox n Bears!

Who cares about a meaningless draft pick that the Sox will be unable to sign or pick the wrong guy anyway? Give me a win like tonight anyday!!! Great win, White Sox. Go Sox! -
I'm definitely not sold on him. No way.
-
I don't think it's funny. I think it's funny you'd go to the game wanting them to get beat. Makes no sense.
-
I think the 34,000 people who attended the game agree with me. They preferred a win over a meaningless draft pick.
-
Nice job winning it on an opposite field single after quite a comeback. The bullpen still sucks aside from Jenks, but nice win nonetheless. I love beating the Twinks.

Exactly 76. I tip my beer to you in 10 minutes as I go get one.
