  1. I didn't see the game and didn't see the at bat which I assume was a fly out to right field. But if the shift was on, geez, instead of hitting a deep fly out to right why not try something different Jim? Like rap a single to left to tie the damn game. I like Thome and realize he's leading the team in hitting but like somebody said our veterans AGAIN didn't get the run in. Thome, Paulie (a walk though was OK) and AJ. I assume AJ's ground out was to second. Again, heaven forbid AJ or Thome rap a single to left once in a while. Flame me if his fly out was to left but I'd bet a lot it was to right.
  2. She should have resisted the tempation to write that article. Two hits is not showing life. If the Sox were serious about getting back in it, they wouldn't have wasted another fine start and get two hits off Westbrook and the like. Dismal game.
  3. Typical of the season. Thome, Paulie and AJ can win it. They do nothing. Bad seasons from the three of 'em plus Jermaine of course. I guess Paulie's walk was acceptable.
  4. Bullpen has to be the first spot to fix. But obviously improve ss and add a Soriano-type outfielder and we'll be back in the hunt. That is, unless some other area implodes like the starting pitching.
  5. I would be in favor of dealing Thome. Love what he's done in baseball, but he's Mike Sweeney-ish now with his back. I don't see why he's a lock to return.
  6. I can't believe we're only 10 games out as bad as we played. I also agree it's not going to happen, but if we were to win 10 in a row, we'd likely have the gap down to about 6 games and then it would be actually possible. That said... we'll probably get our ass kicked by Cleve.
  7. He definitely has been a prize player. Congrats to the Sox for the great play of late. Things start to look brighter like everybody has said when guys like Owens, Richar, Floyd and some of our bad relievers do the job. Keep it up, boys, let's shock the world!
  8. How can Bobby Jenks be this good? Year after year. Knock on wood. Can it continue??
  9. Can you imagine being as bad at your job as MacDougal is at his? Wow ... you'd be fired so quickly. Release him!!!
  10. Cause we still do not have the right makeup. We still have an awful bullpen except for Bobby. We still have veterans not turning their seasons around completely (Paulie, Thome, Dye before the last couple games, AJ). We still are not deep enough in starting pitching (Jose and Danks are not good). And we still have no speed. The result is we are not good enough to win more than 5 of 10 games in any stretch. That said, I do congratulate Fields for doing well and Owens also has been OK.
  11. Good to see Mark B continue to pitch well. Nine games under .500. 26-31 on the road this year. Bad record, but not horrible.
  12. Another one bites the dust. Haeger did not look like the answer during his brief stay. Bye bye Charlie.
  13. Mark Buehrle is one, fine pitcher. Good job again, Mark.
  14. I'm surprised we didn't deal Thome at the deadline. He's the once productive guy who is at the age where that back is not going to get any better. I like him, but he gets hurt and he's aging. I can't believe we didn't deal him just because of age and health concerns.
  15. Did we rush Danks? He is the definition of gopher ball it seems.
  16. Jose is so bad it really is sad. Not meant to rhyme. He needs to go on the DL even if he's not hurt.
  17. Moronotti wrote the same column about the Cub today that he wrote about the Sox before the trade deadlne during our title season. Hopefully he'll accuse the Cub of choking all of September as he did the Sox and make it as difficult as he can on the Cub to win a title. I know you don't give a s*** about the Cubs. I don't really either, but they do exist.
  18. This guy is the missing link to our future success. Way to go Kenny. Great trade. Can we please have a do-over to this season from hell.
  19. I thought that was a great column. World Series memory will last forever, but the players will all be gone withing 3-4 years. Amazing. Pass on LaRussa. Same for Kelly. Let them keep their dour personalities. I want Ozzie.
  20. And probably done for his career. It's amazing how many prospects never make it. Jeremy Reed, etc. Add me to the list of people who wish Erstad would go away. No need to play that guy. I could see giving him away for the guy we got in the Iguchi deal. Iguchi should have brought more, however.
  21. Boy that was a bad lineup the Sox trotted out there today. That was a guaranteed Blue Jay win.
  22. Richar has nothing to do with this. This is about the Iguchi trade. It was a horrible trade and KW should be ashamed. What is so wrong about asking for a player who is at least a big leaguer for Iguchi?? If the Mets wanted him as well, it's really really a shame KW gave him away. Disgraceful.
