I'd have to agree with everything you said. He's kind of Kip Wells-ish right now.
-
And don't forget MacDougal. He was not beloved in Kansas City because of his wildness. It was truly foolish. We need a reliable veteran like Hermy was. MacD was the hope; but he is truly truly hopeless.

Paulie is making a bid to become one of the top five players in White Sox history. Frank is No. 1.
-
We've got to add Hunter. We can't win with our current crew and/or our minor league crew ready to come up. We should have signed Soriano last offseason. He would have looked good in a Sox uniform.
-
Sure. I guess. Hope so. Thank God Aardsma is gone; it's time to see what Wasserman can do. At least the Sox are throwing bodies at the problem.

For some reason, I envision the knuckleballer as a reliever yet another disaster. I'm just saying the relief situation is not fixable until the offseason apparently so why not shift a starter to the set up role and either let Charlie or Floyd give starting a try? I repeat it's for the rest of this season only. Or trade Pods or Mack for a middle reliever somewhere. I guess reality suggests we'll find out soon if Haeger can do the job in relief.

Albert Belle interested in owning White Sox

That "Keep Buehrle, trade Kenny Williams" sign by the little girl is wild. As much as KW flusters me sometimes, he gets a free pass for a while because of the World title. KW seems like the type of guy who'd calmly walk down and chat with that girl and her dad during the game. I wonder what they'd do if he did that. -
Mack might be OK. As long as I don't watch the game. I don't think I've ever seen that guy nail a base hit during games I get to see here. I realize he got four hits in a game versus the Twins and had a good game the other night.

I decided to make this a thread since there are so few new threads. Consider this please ... The Sox middle relief or set up relief is pretty hopeless obviously. In an attempt to improve one part of our team for the rest of the season, how about moving Vaz or Mark B or even Contreras to a relief role the rest of this season only. And let the knuckleballer start. I mean if the Sox hope to make any run at all, the Sox need somebody who can get somebody out in a set up role. Since KW can't make a trade to save his life, I wonder if you like this suggestion. Repeat, this is for the rest of this year only. This improves the bullpen and the Sox can then fire Walker which should fire up the offense.

Back to the dumpster. Anemic offense. By the way, who do you want to lead off? Just asking. It's a shame the Sox are wasting such good starting pitching.

With all the Cuban to Cubs talk, I was thinking today about what will happen when Jerry dies. Who will buy the Sox? I think Cuban's a better fit with the Sox than the Flubs. -
I see Mariotti ripped Ozzie again. The Sox are 7 under .500 with no bullpen and all these injuries and the horrible acquisitions of Erstad and Hall and the terrible hitting of our veterans. I think 7 under .500 is about right.
-
This seems like a good thread to ask the question. Seriously, to all of you who I trust with knowledge of baseball: Can you identify or could KW identify somebody the Sox could acquire from a non contender to pitch the sixth and seventh innings or seventh and eighth preferably? Is anybody out there we could get for a prospect or two? Anybody???
-
Thome, Konerko, AJ and Dye hit ... we win. It's pretty simple. That said, can KW find a middle reliever somewhere, anywhere? We can't keep trotting these guys out there. Isn't there somebody we can acquire for a prospect or two? I mean it seems stupid to have the above mentioned veterans try to heat up if we're not going to make some minor adjustments to the pen. We can't win with these stiffs out there. Oz had to just puke watching Day.
-
Man it could get REALLY ugly quick. If we play like we did the first half, we could lose 8-9 of those road games and 4-5 to Detroit. Seriously, if we hit like we did first half and the bullpen acts as it did first half, I predict we lose 3-4 to Bal; we lose all 3 to Cleve and all 4 to Boston. Then we lose 3 of five to Detroit. If we hit like we are supposed to hit, we'll win 2 in Baltimore, one in Cleveland and 2 in Boston. Then 3 or 4 versus Detroit.

It definitely does look bleak unless guys return to the form of a year ago. Iguchi, Thome, Konerko, Crede, Dye, AJ still have all star possibilities. They are having bad years, but are they done? That's doubtful. Jenks, Mark, Garland. I'm agreeing it looks bad now, but is it one bad year or will these guys revert to all star form?
-
Anything's fine with me. Do what ya need to do. You guys are awesome with this tremendous website.

No offense, but we always play a ton of games against the Central in the second half. True the Sox control their own destiny, but it's not reasonable to think the Sox will win 80 percent of their games against the Twinks, Indians, Tigers and Royals.

Great. They did the right thing. -
Is there a possibility that Contreras is having arm problems?

Great lines about his age. it's disgraceful major league teams can't find out how old a guy is considering they give all this money. I mean cmon. Don't the teams have the right to know guys like Jose are really 55? -
Give him the no trade clause. Usually if a pitcher is doing badly and/or a team wants to dump him, the player will OK a deal if it's somewhere liveable. I mean he deserves a no trade to protect him against being shipped to Pittsburgh or somewhere like that. Great article. I liked those rumors.
-
Exactly. I'm grateful for his effort during the championship season, but he is a wreck on the mound. His style of pitching is maddeningly bad when he's not on. He may be washed up.
-
He was so bad, you wonder how these guys even advance this far. There are a lot of bad pitchers out there, and Aardsma is one of the worst.
-
Thank God Aardsma is gone. My gosh was he a hack.

I love Ozzie but this quote is for the Master of the Obvious Hall of Fame.
