  1. Rather than get mad, why not educate me on what makes Thornton good? When he comes in, I see a tall lefty ready to implode. Educate me. I am ready and willing to become a Thornton backer.
  2. Good point on Brady Clark. I was just watching the Royals game and saw Guiel was 2-2 for the Yanquis and it made me realize how much I liked him as a player in KC. Hindsight being 20-20, we really did need to make a move or moves at the trading deadline to spark us. Oh I forgot we did add MacDougal who I hated watching up close as a member of the Royals.
  3. Noppe. Jenks did blow the game but he's been good all year, unlike Thornton, Cotts and MacD who I can't believe some are so infatuated with. And Jenks didn't completely blow it. He only gave up the one run. We still coulda won it, but nooooo BMac comes in and BAM! But he's being misused so he's getting a free pass from some.
  4. My gawd, I love Frank as well but Thome hit the game tying homer tonight? He's been playing hurt. Thome ain't our problem ain't even close to being a problem. p.s. Flame me all you want, but Aaron Guiel might have been a nice pickup if KW and Oz felt they needed to platoon with BA.
  5. It's not over til it's over. Cue Yogi Bear Berra and John Belushi speech please.
  6. Lots of blame to the offense. Pathetic effort against that starter/reliever hack. It still woulda been nice to claim the 2-1 victory. Too bad we couldn't complete the deal. Walks always always are killers.
  7. At least Brandon, if his career never takes off, can pin the blame on Ozzie if he wishes to do so. Poor ol Brandon is being misused as a reliever. Give me a break. Lots of pitchers have stepped up in their careers and done what is needed to do. Hope the kid has a long productive career as a starter, but the man has sucked of late and there is no assurance he'd have been a stud as a starter this year though I agree he's been misused by Oz and KW.
  8. Bobby in ... Mr. Automatic blows a rare save opportunity. Brandon in ... Bomb. The man nobody criticizes gives up the game-winning bomb. We stink. Our bats are dead. We are snakebit. We remain a team in trouble. On to Game Two tomorrow.
  9. "Someone else" isn't all that much better if better at all.
  10. Don't say this on that other thread. I was buried for saying our bullpen sucks except for Bobby. Thornton costs us one game against the Twins last week; Mac Dougal the other, but they are great ya know.
  11. I may be off base in all your minds but I can't believe the entire Sox fan base thinks our skipper is terrible. If I got to go to games at the Cell would everybody be grumbling and wanting Oz's head? I can't believe a majority of our fans think he sucks. I think he's a good manager. I think our talent is suspect in many areas. Call me a dumbass but that's my take.
  12. Let me throw it back at you. You all think BA is fine? An everyday player? Tell me why.
  13. As far as Mack in cf ... he obviously thinks BA is not ready for everyday duty and despite the love of BA on here the guy is hitting .233 with 32 rbis and 43 runs scored in 300 at bats. He does not deserve to be an everyday player right now. Who is the backup? The roster says it's mack. I agree he's horrible; I don't blame Oz. I blame the moving of Rowand. We shoulda found another way to get Thome. BA wasn't ready for prime time and yes I realize he's hitting .300 or whatever it is the last couple months. Well I'd say I've seen probably only 20 games the whole way through. Saw em play live in KC a couple times also. Parts of other games. I am not some moron. I know my team, have followed the Sox for many many years. I may disagree with you but I think I am well informed fan.
  14. I follow em closely every day and watch as many as i can on TV. I know all our players skills very well. In other words, I'm educated on our team. I may not be able to rattle off all the "good" outings from Thornton and Mac but I have seen some bad ones on the telly and in game reports. You can't tell me Ozuna and Mack are better than Pods. No way.
  15. OK you say Pods shoulda been benched in May. That means you think Ozuna and Mack are better options. I don't. Neither of those guys are better than Pods. No way.
  16. I give Ozzie a free pass because he's going with the guys provided to him by KW. I think I don't have as high an opinion as a lot of our players as some of you do. I tend to blame players more than managers unless they are obviously in over their heads like Bevington.
  17. Why do Thornton and Mac get a free pass when they were responsible for 2 key losses vs. the Twins and Oz is blamed for everything on here? I am just saying when those guys trot in there I am not confident. Can you honestly say you are happy when both come in??
  18. Thornton got the loss in the loss, immediately getting shelled when he came in against the Twins last Sat. at the Cell which sucked since we'd battled back only to lose in the 11th cause of him. The day before it was Mac in the ninth who got shelled and cost us that game. I realize two games do not make a career, but in both cases they got shelled and got the loss and I think deserve blame for those s*** efforts. Maybe their stats are good, but I wouldn't call either totally reliable. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. I don't get to see as many games as you all. You got to admit they sucked in both those outings which were not long ago.
  19. Help me out here. You are saying McDougal, Thornton, Riske and Cotts have been good? If I am out of line, lemme know. I consider none of those four guys reliable.
  20. Well both those guys you mentioned cost us games in the past week.
  21. I also thought that'd be good bulletin board material if indeed big league teams use bulletin board material like college teams.
  22. It really is demoralizing. They are folding. It is (was) there for the taking. Can you imagine if we swept the Royals like we should have and Tampa Bay? We'd be motoring. Now we have to face facts; we're not gonna sweep Boston and some of the good teams we have to still face. Demoralizing like you say.
  23. You said it all, critic. Can we somehow get in?
  24. You really believe this??
