  1. Same ol story vs. the Royals. Maybe Oz should start the 4 guys we brought up tomorrow. We just don't have the magic this year. Or is it simply the pitching?
  2. You make a good point about BMac being let off the hook. He pitched awful in his last outing. Flat out awful. But he gets a free pass because everybody blames Oz for not starting him even though we already have 5 starters.
  3. We will go .500 at best and probably will miss the playoffs by a couple games. But I hope I'm wrong.
  4. Anybody who watches Sox players try to bunt realize smallball is a myth. It is painful to watch a Sox hitter try to bunt. I wonder what our stats are on hit and run plays. Our bunting is horrific but it seems once in a while guys like Iguchi can hit to rf.
  5. I just don't see how Thome can be put in the group of those who have either been too inconsistent or failed in clutch situations. I will say, it's interesting how our organization was WRONG about Frank Thomas. He's had a pretty damn good year and from what I've read is a fan favorite there and sparking them to the division title.
  6. It's a big positive we are right there in the race with one month left. If our five starters got consistently good again (I guess that's doubtful to happen at least this year) we would be in prime position to return to the Series. The key in my mind is starting pitching (since our pen isn't good enough to take over in the 6th inning every night) as well as Pods. But to be basically tied for the wild card with a month left ... most years in Chicago baseball history we'd kill for that. Does anybody dispute my key to success? Our only hope is starting pitching plus Pods (assuming Thome will play most of the games this month).
  7. AJ needs to get his act together. The other option is really really not an option. Alomar should replace Cora as 3B coach, but not catch.
  8. I say play Pods every day and upgrade this offseason. We can't win a pennant with the other options out there. We're still in the race with a month to go. Those other guys are all scrubs. You've got to play Pods. The other guys are not MLB starters.
  9. I am as hopeful as the next person but I don't expect us to sweep anybody. Four of our five starters have been inconsistent at best. Thome is out. Posednik more often than not can't get on base. And our bullpen is not capable of doing the job 3 nights in a row or 4 to get a sweeep against anybody. As bad as we played today, with four outs to go we have a lead. Our bullpen can't get it done. We lose. I see no reason we're going to be consistent enough in all facets to put together any kind of stretch of wins. If we make the playoffs it's going to be playing the same way we are now. If we truly have to have a great month like fathom says and I respect his opinion, I say we're done. We have too many holes to put together a streak of greatness. But we can slide in somehow and our experience could be magic in the playoffs/ Series conceivably for my two cents.
  10. We are not going to sweep the Royals. Case closed there.
  11. Did you really expect to sweep Tampa Bay? With our inconsistent team? Our bullpen sucked, including the great Brandon McCarthy who will get a free pass from critics cause Ozzie has misued him so much. Just get the job done. And we blow the lead with four outs to go? We're just not that good. And by the way, we would have won the game had Thome been able to play today for all the Thome haters.
  12. Scotty certainly sucked tonight but wasn't he pretty good in Game One of the series? Since we can't upgrade right now, wouldn't you agree we need a big September out of him if we hope to make the playoffs? You've got to admit; the games he's played well (and he's had some of those) we usually win or score a heck of a lot of runs. I think we've got to play him almost every day because the alternative right now sucks.
  13. Why do people have to use Judy in every thread about Garland. The guy is 16-4.
  14. He's so good it's amazing. He steals second in that key situation? Wow. Good job, Mr. Dye. You are MVP.
  15. I just read this post. I can't believe how tired the fire Oz stuff has become. My god, he won the World Series last year, people. Do you realize how insane the idea of firing Ozzie is? That said ... if he is miserable here I hope he quits and takes a job with a team he cares less about. There is no doubt nobody wants the White Sox to win more than Ozzie.
  16. I didn't get to watch it. Did Cora send a guy again who got thrown out by a mile? I agree he should be demoted now if that's the case ... again. I mean we all want runners to score on hits but geez our team has a bunch of plodders. Hold 'em at third.
  17. Brian is a likeable player cause of his defense. Don't you all agree we could use an upgrade, though, at ss next year? Of course Juan could get hot in the postseason if we make it that far and emerge as a hero again, but as of now, he's a bit annoying with his average THAT low I think.
  18. Yeah but the Cubs draw every year. We don't. Any true Sox fan knows we've had attendance problems in the past. Not this year. Is it just me or do we almost always win the rare days Scott Pods has a big game? If he had a big September, it sure would help our cause.
  19. I have to go by what Steff said the other day. The Internet fan is way more demoralizing than those at the Cell. We have not had booing. Or not much of it. Ozzie doesn't get booed or death threats. Yes I can support this team if it doesn't win another world series for the next 10 years. 20 years. 30 years. I am a Sox fan.
  20. I can't believe after last year anybody would want Oz gone so quickly. That is so f***ing ridiculous I can't beliieve it. We won the f***ing World series. You think we would have won it with ANYBODY but Oz? Give me a break. I mean criticism is fine. But this team's pitching has been HORSEs*** Is that Oz's fault??? If you want Oz gone, fine, bring in Piniella or LaRussa when he gets fired after this season. I wish Oz well as he manages the next 25 years in some other city. He'll win several World Series. s***, he's already won 2. Ozzie Guillen is not a good, but a GREAT manager.
  21. Yes I do agree on that. I do agree. But I can see why Oz doesn't want to play BA everyday. I have a feeling a lot of decisions are made by committee, KW and Oz. I do agree it is demoralizing to see Mack have no clue in cf. I just wish Brian had not been an automatic out so long for Oz to not believe he is an everyday player. That's why I moaned about the loss of Rowand so much. I know Rowand isn't perfect but BA definitely wasn't ready for everyday prime time and we have no backup.
  22. I respect your 25 years as a fan but these are the statements I don't understand. We have had some real horses*** seasons. Our team has faced adversity. There is a slight chance we might get our act together and have a nice September and make the playoffs. In 25 years we have been out of it in June. This has been very disappointing to me also, frustrating too. But the team TRIED tonight; it rallied. It just f***ing lost again like it is doing on a regular basis. s*** happens.
  23. Because, Willie Harris, Brian Anderson is no Mickey Mantle. Brian Anderson is a nice defensive player. Brian Anderson is an average ballplayer. He likes Mack. KW is the one who acquired Mack, not Ozzie. I respect all your opinions, but I do not share the Brian ANderson love. I do not like Mack much either but geez, BA is not an everyday player. If he was he'd be hitting about .180. I think our roster was much better a year ago.
  24. I beg to differ. Ozzie Guillen is a great great great manager and leader of men.
