  1. I hate that they went out there and did this report, considering that network is seen all around the world. It's like we're telling terrorists how smart it would be to suicide bomb our stadiums. I love the media but sometimes I think we are our own worst enemy. I mean for whatever reason the terrorists have passed on stadiums where if a big bomb suceeded they might change sports as we know them. I hate to have them realize we think them blowing up arenas probably would work, which it would. Wake up CNN. Bad show tonight.
  2. We need a new third base coach with some common sense. I'd vote for Harold Baines if he's still around. I mean c'mon use some common sense, Cora. And yes I realize he's made some good waves home in the past.

I respect you finding those stats, but I wouldn't say pulling him after five innings would have been a good idea. Like I for one said before I believe if you can't go seven innings then you shouldn't be on the team. A five inning starter? That's a joke. I don't blame Oz. I blame Vaz. I know a lot blame Oz though. Don't forget our bullpen hasn't exactly been stellar all the time, either. It's not like we wouldn't have lost some of those games anyway had Oz lifted him after 5. We really need to play better against the s*** ass royals if we want(ed) to win the division is the bottom line. We can't let Detroit and Minnie handle them like Sigfriend and Roy handled their Tigers back in the day before one decided to chow down on Roy. We deserve what we get if we have to settle for the wild card race IMO.
  4. If you went to your first game at 8 and have followed them closely every year after you are not a fair weather fan. I think the test is longevity. You pass that test. I can't rattle off full lineups of teams in the past, but I can tell you the names of certain Sox players I followed throughout the years thru thick and thin. If you can name some key players enthusiastically and tell some specific memories of these players you are not a fairr weather fan. We need Jeff Foxworthy here. You are not a fairweather fan if ...
  5. Hey congratulations on getting the ball and protecting your gf. She probably thinks you are the great protector! One time I was in h.s. our principal called me to the office and said he had four tickets and wanted to give them to me for that day's game. I got to pick 3 friends, we drove to game and got a foul ball plopping off the old upper deck facade at old comiskey into our laps in the lower deck. We brought ball back to school and gave it to him the next day and he was pretty happy. it's funny how the ball hit upper deck and plopped rite back down.
  6. Interesting arguments, but I am of the opinion it's a no brainer. I want(ed) Boston to kick Detroit's butt. I mean there's the outside chance Det. could completely go in the can. And if we repeat as division champs, obviously our postseason hopes are way way better. True it's important just to make the playoffs, but if we want to repeat our chances are greater obviously being division champs and that would be a real possibility if we swept KC and Boston swept Det. To me, cheering for Detroit just seems wrong. But that's me.
  7. Great win. I watched TV and after a scoreless tie after 3 including the play where Pauley got caught off third on the hard grounder it looked like we might play sloppy and get beat. Not quite. Blowout. I hope the team forgets it and gets a good nite's sleep or good n drunk and sleep's in and takes care of business in game 2. We really need to win all of these if we can heading into the next road trip. Wish Boston coulda keep Det. slumping. That sucks Det. went into Boston and kicked some butt.

Dye is amazing. I wonder if our training staff has helped him stay healthy; he sure seems more comfortable with his body in Chicago. He was injury prone before.
  9. We'll learn a lot about the team the next couple days. If we put away the s***ass Royals we've got something going. If they beat us we're back to our inconsistent ways. I mean, cmon, it's time to beat those guys. Their pitching is not good. Yes they have a few good players but the Twins and Tigers have beaten the piss out of them; we need to also. That said, I root for Boston; I want to win the division.

Attendance has been totally incredible. So much for all those arguments in the past: bad neighborhood, bad traffic, bullet coming from the projects into the stadium, it's a Cubs town, blah blah. Give em a great product and they have proven they will come. Now that Reinsdorf has been given a taste of winning; he's got to be wishing he did this 15 years ago.
  11. If ... Jim Thome has raked a mammoth home run in the ninth, instead of grounding out, how happy would we be right now? Would it have been monumental celebration on this board?

--Yeah, but Scottie was DAMN GOOD last year. Cmon you cannot deny that. This year is different, I agree. But give me a break downplaying how good he was last year!
  13. I think if you talked to any baseball analyst tonight and tried to blast Jim Thome for anything you'd get laughed out of the studio. I mean talk about ingrates. The guy has had an amazing season. The problem was falling behind 7-0 obviously. I want to know statistical analysis of how many 7 run and up deficits teams overcome in a season. It's gotta be less than 3 times.
  14. I think any critical comments of Thome are stupid. I can understand being upset about that particular at bat. But cmon. It's just stupid to criticize a guy with his numbers. And how Brian Anderson and his .220 average isn't crucified more is beyond me. I know he's a good outfielder.
  15. I agree with Fathom here. However our bullpen also can be mediocre to s***. I can't understand why the people who wanted Garland out of there can't see that the bullpen also likely would have sucked. Oz can't win either way. It's not like these bullpen guys are studs.
  16. why would you rather see a no hitter for God sake. Are you really a fan? Great game; bad loss.
  17. My slogan: White Sox baseball: Some nights we play like world champions and look like we'll never lose another game; other nights our starters suck and we lose; and other nights our bullpen sucks and we lose. But we are the champs til somebody takes the crown from us. Give us wild card or give us death."
  18. Great point about damon's arm. I watched the replay a few times and was amazed. I think the ball barely made it past the mound and funny thing is I don't think he slipped or anything. My gosh, how could his arm be so weak? He does have pretty good range in cf though, rite? That throw had to be the worst throw by an outfielder in the majors this season. By the way i am hurting after chipping a tooth and getting some sort of nerve correction. The Sox eased the pain a bit!!! Anybody on here ever had a root canal before? If so personal message me your horror stories to ease my pain.
  19. I can't imagine us making the series. But if we can just get in the playoffs anythng is imaginable. We are a team allegedly built for the postseason with on paper some good starters and a lotta run scoring potential. If we can somehow win the wild card, I wouldn't want to be a fan of the team that plays us.
  20. I was gonna start a new thread on this then resisted my giddy tendency. That was one heck of a ballgame. f*** the standings for a night and how bad we've been playing, etc., what a great great game. And a great call on the winning hit by Hawk. And great call on Paulie's homer. Man for Paulie to go with the pitch and deposit it in the rc seats ... awesome hit. Not a bad gutting it out performance by Freddie either. On a given night we play some mean baseball. Wish I was there; jealous of you who were! GO SOX.
  21. No I wouldn't take Kelly over Ozzie. Ozzie is the chicago White Sox like Ditka is the Bears. GO OZ. Go SOX.

I love Oz but I hope the Alomar experiment is over. AJ shoulda been playing tonight. Mark B can pitch to anybody. Alomar is no savior of Mark and AJ woulda been a nice lefty bat in there. I hope Oz is our manager for the next 20 years. It ain't easy to repeat folks. It ain't his fault our bullpen is average to bad and our starters' arms are falling off after last year's excellence.
  23. I agree Tito, but how much of it is the overworked arm, the tired arm after pitching until winter last year.
  24. I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear a Buehrle jersey. Not after last year. I just want him to be shut down if his arm is toast. Start anew with him next year.

Also you act like our bullpen is clutch. Our bullpen has been average at best.
