I don't think Saturday had anything to do with Sunday. Our bullpen hasn't exactly been consistently good.

Give me a break. Putting in Bobby was a no brainer. For god sakes, he hasn't pitched that much before the O's series considering we've been losing every fishing game before that. Too bad he blew a save finally, but it's a no brainer to pitch him. Thornton probably would have spiff his pants and walked the bases loaded.

I don't know why many assume BMac would suddenly be way better than Vazzy. Can't you picture BMac going 5 strong innings like Vazzy and getting lit up in the sixth also? Garland sucked big time his first few seasons. Watching Bmac pitch this year I don't sense a ton of zeros on the board. Sounds like the deal where the first team quarterback is spiffty and the fans are calling for the unknown. Once he gets in, the backup isn't always the answer.

Damned if you do; damned if you don't. That's why I love Oz's public persona. He tells the world on a daily basis to fish off or basically if you want to fire me go ahead. Second guessing is the name of sports.

ST Poll: How will the White Sox finish the season?
greg775 replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree it's Detroit's year; they are too good (this year). We will be unable to catch them. They've simply won too many games already. They may cool off but for them it will be 5-5 over a 10 game span. Good luck to them in the playoffs however. I predict Det. will lose first round. As far as the Sox ... nothing really would surprise me. I have a feeling our starting pitching is not going to come around this year. And I am not convinved Bmac is the solution, not this year. It's probably going to be a wasted year in his development. He probably should have stayed in the minors this year; maybe he woulda if Dustin was healthy. If I had to predict I'd say our experience is a plus, but pre trade deadline I don't like our chances to get the wild card. I will say we will not get the wild card and when the season is over we all will be pretty disappointed unless our pitchers surprise the spiff out of me. -
I know it's not gonna happen now or ever ... but I want Suzuki on the Sox.

That's just what I was thinking. It's amazing how guys' bats can wake up all of a sudden. Five hits is a pretty amazing feat in the big leagues. Hope Oz lets him play again on Sunday, but I fear the dreaded day off for AJ.
-
You have got to be fishing spiffting me. The cusswords should be allowed this one time. My god, the guy is Paul Konerko, the heart and soul of the team. Give me a fishing break. ALL players go in slumps, including Paulie.
-
Would it have been a mracle if the O's hit the slam to erase our lead late? It was a big big hit and hopefully it'll put an end to the spiff streak we have been on. Maybe you aren't convinced but it's a start hopefully. It's better than another fishing loss.

I admit I gave up and left the thread. Come back after going out and see Gload hit the granny! Wow. A dull loss turns into what could be a big win! Good job Sox. Gload coming through is reminiscent of last year when a lot of guys did. Way to pick up the team Gload!!!! Go Sox.
-
We're dead meat. I am out. Prove me wrong, sox.
-
If we lose this game, it's gonna be hard to keep the faith. Admittedly it's a rough stretch and all, but enough is enough. We need to beat somebody, anybody.
-
and why is gload in? Is Paulie hurt?
-
why do we only have 2 runs thru six innings? pathetic.
-
I've believed in a lot worse White Sox teams than this one through the years. GO SOX!
-
If that is the case ... wow. The first crap stretch of his career and you got him finished. Tough crowd.
-
Good story by Couch today I thought in the Sun Times. If our pitchers continue "throwing slower" including Mark, we're doomed. We're gonna get massacred in August if those pitches don't have something on 'em.
-
I wouldn't say the current writers are bland. The team has been bland; they've been fine.
-
Did BMac pitch well yesterday? I only saw him give up the single and Hawk ripping him for throwing a change on the first pitch. Is he a victim of our soft toss disease this season or is his fastball popping?
-
he hasn't lost 'em. Now Coop has some work to do. Coop needs to work overtime figuring what we need to do. I agree with the poster who said we need to go to a six man rotation for a while. Or put Mark on the 15 day to rest his arm.
-
Harry you ever heard of a slump? The Sox are in one. The reason this is totally magnified is Det and Minnie are playing like world champions. They win almost every night out. We're in a major slump. We are not done. The pitching is a big big concern. I didn't even like the way McCarthy threw today. That soft spiff is a concern of all our pitchers. I still don't think we're done. Not with the fishing wild card.

Question to you then: Do you think Ozzie managed well in our close games last posteason? Yes or no?
-
Sorry but that is simply not true. If his decision making has always been bad we would not have won all those games last postseason. Some of those games were close, as I recall. Managers are so easy to blame. Oz is not a bum. I'm not saying he's the best in baseball history but I guarantee you with the exception of the Tigers this year if you followed every team closely you probably would consider that team's manager as bad as Ozzie. When teams lose a game unless it's 13-0 there's always something to blame the manager about. I can't believe you think Ozzie's "in game decision making has always been bad."
-
I like everything about Oz, especially the fact he led the sox to its first baseball title since Babe Ruth was a baby.
-
Uh oh, you guys fighting with each other could lead to vacations. Gramps is uncalled for. It does beg the question. What players do you think deserve our support right now? I would say in terms of trying hard of late (though I can't prove it) I'd back Iguchi, Thome, Konerko, Crede, Garland the most as well as BA I guess. GO SOX
