  1. Good post Parque. I disagree with your post getting mad at Oz for standing up for his mediocre starters, however. He shouldn't blast them in the media. The alarming thing about this slump is we're not winning at home. We go on the road and suck a week and we're gonna be 10 over .500 before long and 4 down in the wild card. Losing at home is not good. It sux.
  2. I just don't understand why critics of Oz think putting in relievers earlier would help. Our relievers have not been outstanding. See Politte who is long gone, etc. I do agree it's BMac time in the rotation. We need somebody who can strike somebody out instead of all soft tossers.
  3. I agree. This has been our first real real slump. The reason we are not going to survive it is the Tigers and Twins win every series. There has been no margin for error and one critical slump is probably enough to doom us unless we get our pitching together soon and battle for the wild card. It's not like our bullpen has been dominant. If it wasn't Vaz it woulda been Cotts or Riske getting lit the way it's been going.
  4. Cmon that is just not true. My god, we didn't win the title just by taking the field.
  5. By the way, he is not a fishing idiot. He's a good manager who led Chicago to its only title since gas was 10 cents a gallon.
  6. Cotts is not exactly Mariano Rivera, either. Why oh why can't Vazzy continue his excellence past five innings?
  7. I'm hoping for the best, but people in KC have learned to not trust Mac. He's wild and he's still considered a "prospect" at 29. He's not very good. Hopefully a change in scenery will help him consistently get the ball over the plate. Expect some maddening outings of him walking the bases loaded unless Coop can work wonders.
  8. I agree. Soriano will be no cure all. The magic was there last year; this year it's been gone during this current slump. Unfortunately for us, the Tigers and Twins win every series so we're basically hosed until those teams come down to earth. We are definitely not treading water, we're falling like an anchor.
  9. You look at 3 games and you probably will lose all 3. It's plod away one at a time like the Tigers have been doing.
  10. I just hope the team does the incredibly dull cliche and play it one game at a time from here on out. Big series or no big series we just have to worry about the Sox playing like they can. Pitching and defense baby. Day in and out from here on in the starters have to step it up like Jon did today.
  11. Even though Oz is mad and Garland didn't hit the batter I'm glad he didn't because we probably would have lost the game had he gotten tossed. Judging trom the comments I've seen, Oz called out Garland somewhat to the media and Garland is taking it well. Some may think Jon is a puss but he has pitched great of late. I'll take his awesome effort today over beaning a guy and getting tossed and Brandon being off and getting lit up possibly.
  12. good posts. I'm probably lucky not many games have been on tv out here lately. It seems like ages since our series beating up on the NL teams.
  13. Good posts by squert and you and fathom. I would have to say 3.) is a great answer to the Sox problems. As far as 4 I agree winning brings chemistry and not the other way around but some players' personalities are conducive to winning. If Rowand only had 2-3 close friends then I buy that and say not a big deal. I just wondered if he was the kind of guy who sparked everybody. If the defense is pathetic, whose fault is that? Is Uribe the guy we should dump? It's got to be more than Mack and Scotty on the defensive end sucking.
  14. Great posts on Cora. You have to use common sense as a third base coach. Some of our guys are just not fast and should not be sent!
  15. Squert I worded the question reasonably not like a mama's boy. Why yu so upset? I'm trying to figure out reasons we are faltering and just looking for some answers from those in the know. Peace.
  16. Food for thought, tell me I'm a moron if you feel so: I approve completely of the Thome trade cause I love Thome. However, for Steff or whomever knows the players. Do you think Rowand's loss kills our club's personality? Was he one of those incredible guys in the clubhouse we miss big time? Or would nothing matter with the way our starters are going? I just wonder if Rowand's personality more than his bat/glove even have been a vital loss to the squad.
  17. True Richie, However when I look at his stats I was thinking maybe we'd pound him in the first couple innings and treat him like the crud pitcher he is. p.s. Allen hit the longest homer I've ever seen in old Comiskey.
  18. Plenty of time if the Tigers get a.) bored. b.) their starters start pitching like our starters are pitching. c.) Maggs and Rod get hurt as well as Jones.
  19. The fact we couldn't beat Wasdinowski in the Cell shows we are up a creek. We is in deep trouble.
  20. If we cant beat this Wasdin guy we gots problems. I guess it's called a slump.
  21. Oops. I forgot about the Twins. They seem to be clones of the Tigers now in winning every night.
  22. I feel sorry for Thome. Unless we get our act together starting pitching wise, he won't be playing in postseason again.
  23. Pretty soon, KW is gonna have to figure out trades to make to compete solely for wild card. Detroit is close to running away with it.
  24. Great line. That loss was not a good loss. This mental stuff I don't think matters much. Our pitchers aren't living off last year; they are just not doing as well. I am not a big believer in this mental stuff. You go out and play every day. I don't think the Sox think they are better than anybody else.
  25. But Everett is better.
