  1. Our pitching is mediocre to crap this year. We're gonna have to deal with it. It's still baseball and it's still fun to watch. We should consider shutting down some of these pitchers like Mark if indeed their arms are toast from overwork last year. Now all of a sudden we suck at home which is not good news for our wild card hopes. By the way your statement, "Ozzie has shown himself to be a horrible manager" is complete bulls***.
  2. I'm hopeful of Wild Card but not expecting playoffs. If we do get the wild card ... wow, our experience would really be helpful in the playoffs.
  3. Great posts. I read this entire thread and loved all of your well thought out responses. I challenge you all to read all the posts closely and you'll see why this site is so great. Some great points brought up by the fans on here. I especially liked Bob Dylan's response. I enjoyed reading all your comments. Thanx for answering my question!
  4. I watched Saturday's game and caught myself wondering why I dislike Pods so much. His batting average isn't horrific and he swipes bases. He takes pitches and seems to have a clue at the plate. So is he underrated? Do you all like him and think he should be our leadoff hitter the next couple seasons? Or do you find yourself like me disliking the guy for some reason?
  5. I will say in his absence, the columns were rather boring. They probably should have let Couch write a lot more columns to see if he could have become the popular columnist with Moronotti on break. I think his columns are OK since they seem to fire up our Sox, but they are way too long. That in itself shows his ego. He oughta shorten the columns and go to the clubhouse and write a few off that. He really does look like a puss not going to the clubhouse and it puts the other columnists at a disadvantage. It's pretty fishing easy for Moronotti to blast away and blast away when he won't show his face. The other columnists show up and get the other side of the story and tend to be more fair, yet duller as a result. Off my dull soapbox. GO SOX
  6. 13 strikeouts was pretty impressive. Shocking but impressive also.
  7. Good point, Balta. But it is frustrating, cause the Tigers' success vs. the Royals is pretty much what has opened such a big lead in the division.
  8. Leonard ... he hurt his back again, stiffness, left the game. He's a stud.
  9. Did anybody hear the postgame stuff? Any word on Crede for Sunday? Curious to see if red hot Joe can answer the call on Sunday as we try to sweep those bastards.
  10. It's 10-0 Twins in the fifth inning. This is why I wanted to sweep the Royals. Our competition always beats the piss out of the Royals. We merely win 2 of 3.
  11. I watched most on that one on TV. Vaz was amazing. And Dye was amazing. Will Crede play tomorrow? Great win. We just have to keep playing well and winning series. A sweep would be nice. We better come to play with the Jays unlikely to drop eight in a row.
  12. Sorry for two posts in a row; just saw this written about Jon by the Chicago Trib: “Confidence,” catcher A.J. Pierzynski said of the difference between this Garland and the one who won only two of his first seven starts. “Early in the year he was worried about his velocity. He has gone back to changing speeds. When he pitches, you feel like you can win.”
  13. Maybe true. Not by me. I think he's great. I love the fact he appears to be a flake. His record is awesome. Hope he can keep it up and Vaz and Freddie can make huge comebacks the rest of the way. Let's face it, if Vaz and Fred continue to suck we're going nowhere, not to mention poor Mark's demise which hopefully he turned the corner toward normalcy in his 5 inns vs. KC.
  14. Tonight's win was reminiscent of our World Series team. Good starting pitching, excellent relief, good clutch hitting, manning up to come from behind on the road. As far as the Twins, just assume they are going to win all 4 this weekend, because they are. Only our sox fail to complete the sweep against KC out of the teams Chi, Minn and Det.
  15. The Twins lead the hapless Royals 6-0 in the second. My guess is Minnesota will sweep those chumps in a four game series and that will be big for the Twins as they vie for the wild card.
  16. Good point, Balta. No Konerko and Thome is not good. But I hate not sweeping those bums especially when Det. is 12 of 13 or something like that versus the worst team in baseball and we always drop a game in a series vs. those dolts.
  17. Yes but was Vaz a 5 inning pitcher when Oz wanted us to get him? Is this his history? All I am saying is if he is a five inning guy then KW should demand we switch roles and make McCarthy the starter. A manager has to expect more than 5 innings from a starter especially one who is as highly paid as Vaz.
  18. Maybe Oz should yell at Uribe every day. He may be a good defender, but I'd give him a C for his performance so far this year. Wouldn't you agree C is all he gets?
  19. Let's face it. We ain't good enough this year. The magic ain't there. Our pen is spotty. Our D is spotty. Even when are healthy our lineup is all convaluted (sp). It ain't our year. Can we eke out a wild card bid?
  20. It's KW's fault more than Ozzie's. If he is a five inning guy then implodes he does not belong on a major league roster. If Oz has him to use, he's got to be able to go 6-7. Managers play the guys on the roster. It ain't his fault Vaz has sucked.
  21. I'm 40 mins from the stadium and it's pouring again. Looks dismal to continue this game. We gawn.
  22. Uribe was great last year but I'm tiring of him like Oz. We need an upgrade. He and Anderson tend to make out after out after out.
  23. greg775 replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Crede is damn good. It's nice to see him blossom. Hope he is a White Sox player a long time.
  24. Are you serious? You are blaming Ozzie for Vaz's mediocrity/spifftiness? My god.
  25. I would have to agree. Nine games and up would take a MONUMENTAL choke by the Tigers. It's gonna be a dogfight for the wild card. We're going to have to play GOOD baseball to land a postseason spot. We won't be able to trickle in by playing .500 or .480. Damn.
