Post-game curse-a-thon
Fathom you really want Ross Gload as our lf the rest of the season and to not play Pods? If you do I guess we just agree to disagree.

Post-game curse-a-thon
Yet Joe Crede has 2 crap at bats in his final two including the final pop out. You guys that want to blame Oz for our s***tiness baffle me. I would play Pods over the guys you want playing.

Post-game curse-a-thon
Cmon. Ross Gload is not better than Pods. Pods ain't producing s***. Is that Oz's fault??

Post-game curse-a-thon
Like what, Fathom? Crede pops up to end the game. If he hits a liner in the rc gap, we win the game. Like leaving Jose in too long? Jose is a starter on a big league team. He has to go more than 4 innings and errors contributed to Jose's s***tiness too. Playing Pods? Pods is the best we got in that option. Oz is playing the personnel KW gives him. You guys act like he's playing Pods over A-Rod or Soriano.

Post-game curse-a-thon
This is not meant as a flame of our beloved team, which still could easily make the playoffs: Are the Royals as good as we are?

Post-game curse-a-thon
What's so frustrating is even stud Joe had 2 s***ty at bats in his final 2 at bats. Let's face it, we're just s*** right now.

Post-game curse-a-thon
All I can say is, if you can't get a clutch hit you don't deserve to beat the Royals. Best at bat of the game was AJ's in the "rally" inning. Never seen a team score just 3 runs while batting 25 minutes. Amazing what a rut we are in. Blaming Ozzie is childish, at least that's my opinion. Get creative.

Sox @ Royals, September 1, 2006 7:05 p.m.
I don't think the Yankees will be calling Coop this offseason.

Not defending Jose too much but wasn't one of the six runs that inning earned? The rest caused by the bad defense?

I wish if he's really hurt we just put him on the DL. Get rid of him til next year. If he's on the staff he's got to be able to go 5 innings or 6. I mean my god, is five innings too much to ask.

I hope you aren't suggesting we have a good bullpen.

That was a great at bat. Took pitches, then wham!

Sox @ Royals, September 1, 2006 7:05 p.m.
Same ol story vs. the Royals. Maybe Oz should start the 4 guys we brought up tomorrow. We just don't have the magic this year. Or is it simply the pitching?

My optimistic thread for the season
You make a good point about BMac being let off the hook. He pitched awful in his last outing. Flat out awful. But he gets a free pass because everybody blames Oz for not starting him even though we already have 5 starters.

From here on in, it's a 32 Game Season
We will go .500 at best and probably will miss the playoffs by a couple games. But I hope I'm wrong.

Small ball myth
Anybody who watches Sox players try to bunt realize smallball is a myth. It is painful to watch a Sox hitter try to bunt. I wonder what our stats are on hit and run plays. Our bunting is horrific but it seems once in a while guys like Iguchi can hit to rf.

And that's a White Sox loser
I just don't see how Thome can be put in the group of those who have either been too inconsistent or failed in clutch situations. I will say, it's interesting how our organization was WRONG about Frank Thomas. He's had a pretty damn good year and from what I've read is a fan favorite there and sparking them to the division title.

My optimistic thread for the season
It's a big positive we are right there in the race with one month left. If our five starters got consistently good again (I guess that's doubtful to happen at least this year) we would be in prime position to return to the Series. The key in my mind is starting pitching (since our pen isn't good enough to take over in the 6th inning every night) as well as Pods. But to be basically tied for the wild card with a month left ... most years in Chicago baseball history we'd kill for that. Does anybody dispute my key to success? Our only hope is starting pitching plus Pods (assuming Thome will play most of the games this month).

And that's a White Sox loser
AJ needs to get his act together. The other option is really really not an option. Alomar should replace Cora as 3B coach, but not catch.
-
Mack, Gload, or Ozuna in LF?
I say play Pods every day and upgrade this offseason. We can't win a pennant with the other options out there. We're still in the race with a month to go. Those other guys are all scrubs. You've got to play Pods. The other guys are not MLB starters.
-
And that's a White Sox loser
I am as hopeful as the next person but I don't expect us to sweep anybody. Four of our five starters have been inconsistent at best. Thome is out. Posednik more often than not can't get on base. And our bullpen is not capable of doing the job 3 nights in a row or 4 to get a sweeep against anybody. As bad as we played today, with four outs to go we have a lead. Our bullpen can't get it done. We lose. I see no reason we're going to be consistent enough in all facets to put together any kind of stretch of wins. If we make the playoffs it's going to be playing the same way we are now. If we truly have to have a great month like fathom says and I respect his opinion, I say we're done. We have too many holes to put together a streak of greatness. But we can slide in somehow and our experience could be magic in the playoffs/ Series conceivably for my two cents.

And that's a White Sox loser
We are not going to sweep the Royals. Case closed there.
-
And that's a White Sox loser
Did you really expect to sweep Tampa Bay? With our inconsistent team? Our bullpen sucked, including the great Brandon McCarthy who will get a free pass from critics cause Ozzie has misued him so much. Just get the job done. And we blow the lead with four outs to go? We're just not that good. And by the way, we would have won the game had Thome been able to play today for all the Thome haters.

AND THIS BALL GAME IS OVA!!!
Scotty certainly sucked tonight but wasn't he pretty good in Game One of the series? Since we can't upgrade right now, wouldn't you agree we need a big September out of him if we hope to make the playoffs? You've got to admit; the games he's played well (and he's had some of those) we usually win or score a heck of a lot of runs. I think we've got to play him almost every day because the alternative right now sucks.

Why do people have to use Judy in every thread about Garland. The guy is 16-4.
