  1. You deserve an answer because of your intensity. All I can say as a LaRussa supporter is, "I don't know (what he has done well)." I just think it's very early in the season and despite mega injuries the Sox have a good/pretty excellent record. It's a cop out to just look at the record, but it's also not a cop out as a Sox fan to say I don't dislike the job LaRussa has done so far. I know as somebody with concerns this answer probably would frustrate you. As a fan I go by the eye test a lot and I see a banged-up team doing just fine. He's the manager of this banged-up team with a not so bad record, so I don't despise his work.
  2. You really think Tony is that bad? I just don't see it. His parade of relievers is kind of common when starters only can go five or so. The more relievers you use the more likely somebody will not have good stuff. Sometimes fans and posters want starters taken out way too early. Cmon, they should be able to go five or six ... taking a guy out in the fourth is dumb even by today's standards of not going deep into games. The lineup? Doesn't modern analytics show the batting order doesn't really matter in terms of runs scored and production? I mean yeah Grandal probably should be hitting ninth but we also have sone other lousy hitters. Playing Hamilton shouldn't ALL be on Tony. He's on the roster and Hahn has a say in that. I'm no Tony worshiper but I don't think he's a clown like Ricky could be. Does the evidence indicate Tony reeks? I don't think so.
  3. I thought we did winners threads and didn't see one so I started it for good luck, figuring we as a board forgot the 'that's a winner' thread.
  4. I think Tony knows what he's doing. Call me stupid, but I'm satisfied with this record so far. Big picture, baby. Team has been banged up and is doing just fine record wise.

Catch all thread item ... Say what you want, Elon Musk was good last night on SNL. He was in a plethora of sketches and they were moderately funny. In my humble opinion, SNL is only funny when the sketches are sort of weird/bizarre. The political stuff is kind of unnecessary/dumb/partisan. But last night there were some weird sketches with good writing/dialogue. You can find most of the sketches with Musk online. I challenge you to watch them and say he's not a decent actor. I'd give the episode a B to B-minus. Usually they are C to C-minus to D. I like when Miley Cyrus performs as well. Most of the music on SNL is not my cup of tea. I think she is talented and I like her offerings generally.
  6. I don't know how much heart and spirit they showed this series. It was kind of a butt whipping basically. Jump on em early and bring it home for the easy W.
  7. Grandal is bound to start hitting. When he does, it will really help this team. I wouldn't stress about him too much.
  8. This is why I don't freak out about the Sox this year. Even with injuries, the team is built to win. It will take monumental bad luck the rest of the way to not be in the race all season. Great win again today. Jumped on KC again and again made the lead hold up. Glad to see Mercedes and Abreu get 2 hits apiece; good pitching. Moncada quietly has become a vaccuum at 3B. He can field. Keep winning, Sox. I think the team despite the injuries is in good shape for the long haul barring more injuries. GO SOX! Mop up those Royals as much as humanly possible please.
  9. That 'might' have been the close call of the game. If Perez hits the pitch another couple feet it's a home run. Instead you are out, Perez and Sox keep big lead.
  10. Great to see the Royals not throw the runner out at the plate on Mercedes hit. He would have been out by a mile or not sent if Gordon was out there in LF. Good game (so far, anti jinx). Got to love Mercedes.
  11. I'm posting just to keep the winners thread relevant. We have to not take wins for granted. I listened to first inning on radio and watched innings 5-9 on TV. Great win. The Royals announcers were impressed with Sox ability to hit with two strikes and to not rely on home runs. I think a lot of people are noticing the HR or K mentality in baseball today and like to point it out when guys are stroking the ball oppo field for singles once in a while. I was hoping Jose A would homer in the first in his second at bat to make it an 11-run inning. Nice win Sox.
  12. I just KNEW after Sox scored eight in the first they wouldn't score again. Why is baseball so weird and maddening? I'll take the easy win, but baseball drives me crazy.

There have been so many bad ballplayers in the big leagues through the years. It's such an unforgiving sport. Now with the shifts even harder to have that ball drop safely on the green grass instead of in somebody's mitt.
  14. Sweet. I do like coffee a lot. My pet peeve is it must be hot, hot hot. I actually like cold beer, too, though I've given it up at various junctures and am currently in such a spell. Once COVID hit, I was upset at the status of the world and decided no harm in having a couple beers a week. So after the third attempt at buying some Miller Light and the third time the store didn't have any (WTH?) I took that as a sign and went back on no drinking hiatus.

When are we gonna blame the hitting coach? Who is the hitting coach?
  16. Great pitching. Great win. We'll take a shutout anyday. Surely Tony has seen enough of Hamilton. The guy cannot hit and that's pretty obvious by now. Glad Collins is doing OK. That HR tonight was nice. Would be great to score some runs the final two games of the series and keep KC reeling. The Royals do stink and it'd be nice to win all 3 but unacceptable to not win at least two.
  17. What a kind board. Thank u. I appreciate it.
  18. Thanks to you as well.
  19. Thanks back at you. I feel good about my body (knock on wood). So far, 29 hours since the shot and just a sore arm. Hope that continues.
  20. I'd like one more run, wrap up a 4-0 win and go ahead and try to get the offense rolling tomorrow. A 4-0 win would be dandy.
  21. I'm loving me some Bummer. Two outs.
  22. One out cause of a nice pitch there by Bummer. I'll take it. Nice.
  23. I think you could bet the under every game this series and win a lot of money in LVegas.
  24. I like patience at the plate but Collins had a bad at bat there. Take a hack. Hamilton needs to be DFA'ed. I know he can play defense but geez isn't there somebody else in the Sox system to play backup OF?
  25. I will say this, before I got my second shot yesterday I was waiting and reading the handout on the Moderna vaccine. I laughed to myself because "common sense Greg" would never have accepted the shot after reading the material. It said the vaccine is not yet approved. It said it is unknown if there will be any long term side effects. I mean, after reading the handout there is ONLY one reason for one to be vaccinated and why I was vaccinated -- because frankly common sense says at this juncture it was unwise to inject the vaccine into my body. To get the vaccine you have to buy in to the fact COVID-19 is extremely serious, a once in a lifetime (hopefully?) threat to the entire country and entire world. By accepting the fact is it extremely serious (I accept the fact if I get Covid I could die gasping for air in a hospital bed; again many do not believe this is realistic) I willingly took shot No. 2 yesterday. I'm convinced those not getting vaccinated do not think this is a serious disease, do not believe Fauci and all the politicians and are quite worried the vaccine has not yet been approved with no knowledge of long term side effects. My deduction (partly because of what's happening in India; I do believe the crisis is horrendous) is that this is a vicious serious disease, one that I do not want to get and one I do not want to inadvertently spread to others. IN CONCLUSION ... after reading the handout I can understand why peeps would be hesitant. My decision was to ward off "common sense Greg" forget for a minute my disdain for politics and politicians and go ahead and get the vaccine. (So far sore arm, nothing else yet). Peace out.
