Thanks for explaining. I appreciate the knowledge. At 40 percent of all the net worth of all Americans combined I like my plan WAY better. Look, all the programs you state are fine, but America has always been about cold hard cash. Dollars. Look at sports. Look at politics. Look at EVERYTHING. African Americans want immediate action/change regarding these murders by racist cops. Reparations should be direct payments, something everybody can see and react to immediately. If it's 40 percent of all wealth, that means we survive as a country economically in handing out reparations that should end unrest. I mean if a million dollars per person doesn't prove America is serious about making amends, then we're all doomed anyway.

They can't say anything. They'll be run out of office/town. Keeping the peace in the streets is not a position one is allowed to have. As far as Trump, he's going to be voted out in November so why is everybody so stressed about his photo op? There are things senators shouldn't make a comment on with everybody ready to run force them to resign.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
I said before I'm not "worried." I'm shocked how these videos show no concern at all. My buddy's flight to LV from KC was packed he said. Vegas is rocking, too. And Washington, D.C. has sooooo many protestors today/Saturday. Right now there are so many people in Washington, D.C. it is beyond belief, all crammed together for speeches. The government should be ashamed for making people cancel weddings and holding them to 10 people. I couldn't get a haircut for 3 months? Have you seen this rally in DC today?? The virus spread is going to be monumental, no pun intended. Our church is still allowing just 10 people per funeral. What a world. So hypocritical. Either covid is dangerous or it's not.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
I'd imagine sports owners are a little worried about the future of sports. Sports without fans can't be as productive as before. This pandemic doesn't seem to be lessening at all during this very hot start to June.

I just watched a two minute video of a guy walking through a Vegas casino tonight. Jam packed! And no masks cept on the dealers. Lot of beer bottles evident of course but no masks. Let's get real. Protestors, looters, gamblers in Vegas, guys at the bars and strip clubs in Vegas ... they are not wearing masks, folks. Heaven help us. All those people are gonna be returning to their hometowns. Corona is going to spike so bad.

There is serious discussion in Minnesota (Omar tweet, city council) to abolish police department in Minneapolis. If this happens, maybe we really are at the start of Armageddon. A ruthless, bad political figure in charge (Trump), a horrid disease (covid), fire (riots) and total anarchy (if police forces are dismantled; it would be The Purge every single nite with no cops).

What's insane (and could hurt Biden a bit but that's besides the point) is if his plan for reparations is some silly amount of money like 2500 bucks per family. That would be putting a low low low price on the horror of slavery, which reparations are meant to "help" repair bad feelings toward slavery. How much will Joe suggest? 10,000? My plan is $1 million per single person and $1 million per family which would (if possible and not ruining the economy) pretty much make every African American family at least middle class or better. My plan makes a difference in all this unrest, or it SHOULD. That's a large amount; a fair amount. Get the top 5 percent wealthy people to contribute mightily to the fund. Some donations like Mike Jordan's amazing donation would help cut into the cost (not Mike, however, as it's not his duty to address reparations of course). What's insanity as you say, will be some meaningless amount of money regarding reparations. I guess Biden could promise free college education and med school for all African Americans and some things like that re. reparations, too. I'm trying to come up with meaningful change, not just talk. I get criticized a lot but my two original suggestions aren't drawing much commentary.

I like your posts but I wish you'd be tougher on the protestors. I went to our rally here Sunday, 2000 people, I didn't get out of my car, was just on the periphery and nobody had masks on. Greg got beat up pretty good on this board for wanting a haircut. When I got my haircut there were 3 people in the building counting me, all wearing masks. I'd like to see more criticism of both the protestors and the medical people who said it was OK to protest. Face it, nobody was going to publicly criticize a protestor for ANY reason, including COVID experts. I mean cmon, the mob protestors are just as selfish COVID wise as anybody else violating a COVID requirement. Those people at our rally could give a flip about covid. I talked to a few and they were furious about Mr. Floyd's death, not caring a BIT bout covid. How bout some negative words about them? p.s. We've had HUGE rallies every day in KC since the murder. Our spike is going to be INCREDIBLE. My contention is they are as bad as the ones who half packed our bowling alley the first night you could bowl legally. But it's cool to blame the bowlers here; not the protestors.

Kansas City has had several rallies, nightly actually for many consecutive days, in which thounsands of people are crammed in next to each other like a rock concert festival. No government official has said a word about the danger of this regarding corona. Meanwhile, restrictions are still in place for restaurants, etc. It's all a big disgrace. I'd expect cases to spike everywhere and this isn't even the bad time of year for viruses. Wait til September through March. Wow.

It's apparent to me at least from the debates and the continuing, current state of our country in terms of violent/racist cops, reparations will be an important part of the campaign. Should be interesting to hear Trump explain how he could be against reparations when the other candidate is for significant reparations. I want to give $1 million to each African American single person and each household because that amount of money is significant. It would make a real difference in their lives and in the economic status of African Americans. If they treat the money wisely (invest, etc.) then the reparations would do what intended. They would (greatly) make up for the past sins and be a nice payment in apology for the horrific thing called slavery. As far as how much without having so much debt without ruining the country, I need you experts to tell me the math and if my plan COULD be implemented and not wreck the country's economy (I read the previous response with a lot of 0000s in it but no comment on if we could do it and still save the economy). Reparation $$ must be significant, not insultingly low amount. p.s. I was thinking to help my plan we could have a tax on the upper 5 percent wealth-holders in the country. Not accusing them of needing to pay but to help out. Also maybe a one-time tax on every other American of 1000 dollars or something. Just to help keep down the amount of money we have to print to fulfill my reparation plan. I'd gladly pay the 1000 to make my contribution to this. And my other suggest ion of the police watchdog position awarded to an African American in every city ... we either abolish police departments or "try" to clean them up" and this is a step in the right direction. That will be my last post about this ... unless somebody can figure out mathematically how my plan COULD be implemented by simply printing money and dealing with the economic consequences of national debt. In terms of giving African Americans what they deserve I think most would agree it 'should' be a million dollars IF WE COULD make that happen without ruining the economy.

Well, reparations is going to be a big point in the upcoming election. Biden is in favor; I would guess Trump for sure is not. If Joe B as expected, wins, he has to come up with an amount. I say $1 million per single African American person and $1 million per family "should" end a lot of this strife. That's a lot of money. And a very generous amount for reparations. Plus my suggestion about having Joe appoint an African American police watchdog or Police Observer if you will, who has an office next to the police chief and has the same powers as chief. We need solutions and I have two. I would also assume their would be Native American reparations. If so, the same amount of money. $1 million per Native American single person or $1 million per family unit.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
Man, six weeks of training is a heckuva long time. I know it's just sports but I feel for those guys if they have to practice hard during those six weeks. That's a lot of pounding. I guess I understand. They've had 11 weeks off. In a normal offseason the teams that make the Finals get about 14 weeks off.

As far as leaving out other groups ... there's no history of slavery with them is there? If you could figure a way to do it, then give each of them $500,000. As far as the money not curing the problem, that would be really really be confusing if it didn't cure the problem. How could there still. be racial unrest if each person or family gets $1 million? That's a lot of money and quite a fair amount for reparations.

As u all know I come up with direct simple solutions that some hate. The government has been spending a lotta money of late so bear with me on MY solution. OK quickly: a.) Kamala Harris, most of the candidates, I think Joe B as well, are for reparations. I think at that one debate they all were in favor of reparations. Personally I think the reparation cash NOW must be significant, not some amount like 1000 bucks. Because of these never-ending incidents of unabashed uncalled for murder of cops on African Americans, give $1 million dollars to each single African American person and $1 million total to every married African American "family." Somebody do the quick math for me how much money that would be (again remember the $$s going out during COVID; the amount is staggering and proves our government can print money and send it out). For once and all make this commitment to righting wrongs of the past and present. Hopefully the economy will survive giving $1 million to each person and/or family. This should eliminate the current hard hard feelings. Emphasize the word 'should.' That is a lot of money, folks. Finally b.) Vote in Biden over Trump this fall. We only have a few months to go. Be patient everybody. Have him appoint an African American person in each American city to a well paid position called "Police Watchdog" or some nicer term, Police Inspector. Paid for by tax money. They meet regularly with the police chief and in fact are required to have an office adjacent to the chief's office in EVERY city. And they have POWER like the chief to make decisions. That's it. Those are my two suggestions. The police watchdog duties will include REGULAR meetings with the community members. If the watchdog catches any internal grief from police or the chief (bullying) that person has the duty to call for a hearing immediately to get that crap stopped! What say you to my suggestions? I tried to keep them brief since I enflame a lot on here. Please point out why either of my ideas are good or bad. Everybody talks about solutions; at least I have two here that in MY MIND make some sense. It's going to take brainstorms and those are mine.

Nobody, or should I say very few of the 2,000 at our rally, were wearing masks. Virtually no people college or high school aged I'd say. I'd say maybe 10 percent of the throng I saw had masks in the Lawrence rally (I realize we're small potatoes and had just two active covid cases for weeks). The protestors nationwide who have looted and arsoned have masks to hide their faces I'd suspect. But if the science is right, the country will have so many new cases of COVID. There have protests all over in huge cities and smaller ones. Everybody's had huge rallies in the Midwest --- Wichita, Tulsa, Austin, Omaha everywhere. God help us if COVID cases surge although my nurse brother (in chicago) insists COVID has not been a huge problem: "Covid was not as contagious as believed," he wrote me. Don't shoot the messenger. He is a successful nurse in the greatest city in the country.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
One of your finest posts, Jack. I would agree. 50 games? Cmon. Spice it up if it's just 50 games. So the first 10 games are whoever is best prepared and/or has the easiest schedule. The first 10 games probably entail many, many pitchers combining to work the nine innings, with the starters not ready to go deep in games. Now we got 40 games left. OK, I concede the next 30 should be pretty good baseball. Now we got 10 games left to make the playoffs. I'd think whoever has worked their pitching staffs into the best shape and has the easiest schedule would do well in the final 10. Of course with just 50 games, maybe most of the games or all the games are against divisional foes. I haven't read that yet.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
The homestretch in a regular baseball season is important for those who have positioned themselves to be there through excellence. Fifty games is just too small a sample. If we go 50 games I want radical experimentation to make it one crazy half season. For instance don't even play a regular season, have tournaments of some kind and the winners of the tournaments go to the WS. I'd have to think of specific guidelines for the tourneys. 50 games? Cmon. If we do that, just blow it up one year and make it crazyball. Now 110 games? Nirvana.

Warm weather sites of course. No fans this season.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
Terrible. It's like the homestretch of the regular season in a normal year. We could have had over 100 games with the players proposal. Shame on the owners. For this one year they could have bitten the bullet and had severe losses. One year to get things back on track.

Will There Be a 2020 Season?
So sad, we could have had an amazing 110 game season, except the owners won't fit the bill. Woulda helped our country at this time, too, having baseball. Instead just more tiring conflict. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/06/mlb-rejects-mlbpa-proposal-no-counter.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

I hope they cave. After no sports at all, 110 baseball games would be perfect. Please let the players win.

Author of this piece has had it ... his mayor told people to go to this rally of thousands, covid be damned. Meanwhile, locked down the past three months. I'm sure people will just dismiss this as racist, and you won't see any famous media reporters writing this cause they'd probably be fired, but in the spirit of accepting other people's rights to feel the way they want to feel in America, it's worth a read. Same governors who locked it down encouraging thousands of people to attend rallies. Some might see it as a double standard. https://regiehammblog.wordpress.com/2020/05/31/done/?fbclid=IwAR0nluJH0ZYQZ91ILysCOztrlW3mRkWhId4k0HKeRVy3afgBFPl-v5AS4ls

I'm not "worried" but wondering. We have two active cases for weeks now. Our hospital may have to close because it has had so little business amid waiting for COVID cases. We had 2000 people all bunched close together with no masks Sunday night during the protest. Of course I'm wondering if we'll go from two cases to a lot more. I'm not discounting COVID exists. I disagree with almost everything the governor has done here but I wear my mask in situations where I'm showing respect. And I'm ordered to at church. Why wouldn't I be curious if a gathering of 2000 would spike our case total?

I'm worried about physical America right now in terms of if this goes on, all cities will physically be destroyed. At some point the looters and arsonists have to be physically stopped or we will have no cities. When are they going to attack and burn down apartment complexes and homes in neighborhoods to go with the businesses? Eventually they we will be without power and water if they get organized enough to attack those things and the anarchy is going to affect our ability to just survive (food, water, shelter). The people who are making the trouble and not peacefully protesting. have to be stopped before everything gets burned to a crisp. Why can't we identify the organized groups causing the trouble and stop them before it's too late? If this goes on night after night all summer and our police don't stop it (one NYC cop admitted he's laying down cause he doesn't want to get hurt and if he fights back he'll be fired for too much force) we will all be without shelter and food. Can somebody give us updates on Illinois violence on a daily basis? I'm worried about Naperville after last night.

Feels weird to have many stores opening up in Lawrence, Ks. We've only got 2 active cases now and only had 60 or so total at its worse. Should be interesting to see how it spikes after the protests. Also teams start arriving June 15.
