  1. Are the Sox scouts serious? How? Why?
  2. Kansas City and Douglas County/Lawrence Kansas are surging with new cases and deaths. Seriously, folks, what is going on and can we curb this? Please just don't crack a one liner and say wear a mask. I mean is this the end of the world? We are being swamped with new cases and the students aren't even back yet. I'm thinking we're doomed since it's not even virus season. I'm also started to get bored and restless again. Day after day month after month only drudgery. Folks, WTF is going on with Covid?
  3. problem is in 2020 some of the students that are untrained at day care could harm the kids. And not be patient. Also there'd need to be testing on a regular basis to protest both the students and kids. Where are all these tests going to come from?
  4. I used to be for the owners before the teams were sold for incredible sums of money. I should have always been against them cause they are the ones who paid so much for players in free agency it created an era in which baseball games were unaffordable cause of parking/ticket/concession costs (unless you wanted a bad seat or were willing to get creative and take the L or park far away and walk or get tickets on special days and be willing to have lousy seats).
  5. Hey Just, out of curiosity why was there so much pushback? Here the people are scared to death and don't want grade school, high school and colleges to open. Why are parents wanting school opened when COVID is rampant? Is it the fact online option was/is a joke or the fact parents need to work and be out of the house?
  6. 29-31. Team is cursed one final season and misses playoffs. This season is a crapshoot. Nobody knows what will happen as the current Moncada situation proves. There's absolutely no way of predicting. Sorry to say I have little confidence in RR and Coop. I think until they are gone we're not ready for prime time. Also I think the defense will be lousy. Pitching could go either way. We have bodies that's for sure. Prediction: Vaughn makes team and is the real deal. I have no idea who the new manager will be and that's scary, too. I'd really like it if we were one of the teams to shine during the season of corona. Somebody will click during the 60-game run; will it be the White Sox? p.s. i wish Madrigal was handed the starting job. This is the sort of season you CAN rush players, cause there's a built in excuse if they stink. I'd have Vaughn and Madrigal start from Day One baby. If it doesn't work out, you just tell 'em after the season you were getting them some experience since there are no minor league schedules. Absolutely nothing to lose. Their confidence won't be shot if they stink for reasons just mentioned.
  7. I love those two guys; they were so polite. I feel sorry for my fellow conservatives. They come across so angry at the mere mention of a mask. I mean those guys are giving em away free. Lot of places are demanding u wear 'em. These jerks should take advantage and grab a free mask.
  8. Yes I realize that. I just heard I might be a negative on this board sometimes so I am trying to be polite while stressing I truly believe what I say. Thanks.
  9. Not a bad post. I read it. I respect your takes. I know it's not your main point but as a side note here ... some of us Americans do feel like the barber is treated as the enemy. Why? Cause the protestors in our autonymous zone were allowed to break the law for a week (defacing some property; breaking a few windows; verbally assaulting people; physically assaulting a car; busting curfew by being in the zone 24/7; trashing up the zone; painting messages on the street without city hall approval). Meanwhile the barber can't open a shop with masks, pristine cleanlliness, him willing to discuss his plans for cleanliness and very few people in the shop with the government. Instead, he's warned go ahead and open up and you will be ticketed every day, maybe arrested. Yes some of us consider the barber the enemy of our governor and mayor when others can break the law in the name of protesting and it's ... oh well, people do things (Nancy's line). Please accept my comments in the nature they were intended. Honest.
  10. For some reason I expected a dialogue since I voted for them or against them at the polls at least. These government officials were holding daily news conferences for a while and in my opinion (that's all an opinion) they set the tone of defiance and them against us (not working with us) early. They still won't even address the subject of protests in the streets nightly versus having 20 people at a funeral. When a crisis hit like Covid, they decided to be bold and unrelenting. Their call; I think it was the wrong one when they've taken such a passive attitude toward violence of protestors. Americans aren't dumb; they get upset at bossy public officials and inconsistencies. Don't freak out if you disagree with me please; life is short and maybe my brain works differently than yours. At least I'm honest about my feelings.
  11. I didn't like their refusal to consult business owners for calm discussion, didn't consult regular people, wouldn't answer my emails. You don't have to puff your chest out say JUST DO IT MY WAY to be an effective leader. Disgusting behavior of power hungriness. My barbershop is pristine. You should see how good the owner is. Different barbers work at different times. He doesn't want to get Covid, doesn't want to give it to anybody. But he was the enemy to our governor and local officials. I was and am disgusted at the leadership and will vote against all of them. I will add that despite my fury I've obeyed all rules and limited contact with people a LOT.
  12. Why shorten the day til 12:30? What do parents do if both people work? 12:30 is early to have the kids at home unsupervised. Maybe in this new normal we just pretend the kids will be OK without supervision and let them be home alone or go to a neighbors house in which one partner doesn't work cause of layoffs.
  13. Yes, which doesn't bode well for college basketball. Wonder when all the events are going to get canceled like Maui and Champions Classic and all those other holiday tournaments.
  14. Thank u turnin. Regarding this issue: I've always pretty much had the same opinion: Obey my authorities here even if I personally wanted to scream in their face at their being bullies. I'm often considered a bad citizen/person on here even though regarding corona I a.) never violated any rules .b.) wore a mask the instant it was demanded of me; and at church when that was the recommendation. c.) wrote 4 letters to my government bullies who never responded to one of them. Nice. My point? I've always been a law abiding citizen on this. Do I disagree with some things? Of course.
  15. If he has mental health issues he should speak to Greinke who overcame mental health issues early on to excel.
  16. As far as I'm concerned if an employee in any field is worried about coronavirus, he/she has the right to skip work and be paid. All of Kopech's concerns sound reasonable. It's his arm. He knows if he's ready to test it.
  17. He asked a question why people feel this way. I gave a reason for it. I think government officials are mainly to blame. It must be noted despite my friends' feelings which I pointed out, I wear my mask everywhere out of respect for people and have yet to see any incidents in stores/restaurants. We have a law you must wear a mask indoors so I do it and from what I can see most do it. I'm all for masks and the end of Covid spread.
  18. I did read somewhere that the biggest form of transmission is when you have a long conversation with somebody who has the virus. A mask would seem critical in a 1-1 dialogue situation with a stranger or even a family member. You guys don't believe greg but the reason it is so divisive as you ask?? Because of the hypocracy. Whether you guys want to believe it or not, people watch the TV and internet and see BLM protests every single night still. And yet we can't bury a relative in front of more than 10 people when hundreds of thousands are rebelling in the streets every night. It's not fair and it's appalling. Di Blasio even said those protests are more important than anything else thus are allowed. Not wearing a mask is one of the ways people can rebel in ANGER at that hypocracy. "You will not tell me to wear a mask." It is rebellion folks. Nobody followed my kill 'em with kindness mantra. all I see on Twitter is "wear the damn mask!" Anyhow, we have to wear our masks indoors here. It's the rule and stores enforce it big time. Sorry, that's my answer to your question and whether you want to punch me for saying it, a lot of people feel this way. It's not much, but it is a form of rebellion against the government leaders in not wearing the mask. Freedom of choice.
  19. Our stores make you wear the mask, case closed. I wonder why the stores do not object. You can get a citation since it's mandatory indoors here now.
  20. This is a great post when you think about it. He's right. The online option is a SHAM so he's right. Furlough everybody and it's "see you for summer school 2021." Just have the kids hang out a year and if the parents can get them to do it, make them read a book a week. If they can prove they did it, pass them the entire grade. If parents want to lie about the book a week, let them. Great post. Furlough everybody; see u in May of 2021.
  21. Cause the ADs and commishes say the Power Five schools will be decimated without football and bball money. Keep trying for them til the last second. Now does that open 'em up for Title Nine lawsuits by the other sports? Probably. But we're allegedly talking survival of athletic departments here.
  22. Where are the colleges going to get all the tests needed and do all the tests needed to know if their teams are safe? That's for football and basketball. They might as well announce this week that all sports besides football and basketball are canceled. Again, a baseball or volleyball team goes on a road trip. So they test the day before they leave and two kids have the virus. So 14 day quarantine for the whole team. What if the team had made it to its destination with no COVID positives. So on game day they take temperatures and two kids have fevers after the bus ride/plane ride. Game canceled. Some games canceled; a few played. Why bother? At best just allow teams to practice and play intrasquad games until the 2021-22 school year and wait until the last minute to give up on football and basketball. But all other sports give it up right now for this school year.
  23. It's funny how no matter how many times the mods warn us, politics creeps back into the thread and the board. Not complaining just chuckling a bit how much politics rules our minds.
  24. Different topic, but this confirms my concerns about HR at some companies. Just another way for management to stay on top of people rather than help the employee. Glad she gave it a shot though. It was the right thing to do. Your final two sentences are scary but appear to be true. Good health to all of us, knock on wood.
  25. I feel your pain. Thing is I think we're all doomed to stop life again until probably next summer. We're hearing about spikes in Covid anywhere people gather. What's going to happen is schools would open and kids are going to have the virus, give it to a teacher and all hell is going to break loose. Part of me says just ignore Covid and let it do what it must do. The other part of me says I don't want to get it, be on a ventilator and also have to pay exorbitant fees for medical care. I feel for kids. They belong in school. It's very serious keeping them out of class this long. I heard one district is saying the child can go to school two days a week or stay home for an all online option. What a choice. I'd probably choose the all online option. BTW if it's true that 70 percent of American families are living paycheck to paycheck like I heard un fact checked on TV tonight, God help us all. This really could be the end.
