Sox are going to lose a ton of games this year if the starting pitchers are as bad as they've looked the first week.

7/28 Sox/Indians Double Header thread
It's funny how Sox managers always have their favorites. My man Ozzie did; Robin did. And of course this Nicky thing with Ricky is silly. I love grinders but Delmonico has to go the way of Palka, probably to play in another country. He's just not good enough.

Behind in the count and lay it right in there. Boom. 2 RBI single. Sox are off to an horrific start. We need a do-over on the season (again). This team needs at least one more veteran proven starter, bullpen help and a healthy Eloy. Some other things too. Not giving up on the season but since the Cubs exhibitions, this team has reeked.

Ozzie calling out Ricky's lineups
Is Harold still on the staff? I could see JR going with Baines.

Ozzie calling out Ricky's lineups
That's the only thing I didn't like about Ozzie's tenure. I felt he was conceding Sunday games. Even sometimes we'd be trying for a sweep of some bad team and we'd concede on Sunday. I love and loved Ozzie though. Again he isn't going to ever be Sox manager again. Just like his comments today (which I can't hear; MLB.com doesn't carry pre or post game) he's too controversial obviously. I'd say Ozzie's chances of managing anywhere in MLB again are 2 percent. His chance of managing the Sox again is 1 percent.

The Sox are allergic to .500. We can never get over .500 during this lousy period in Sox history.

Trade for pitching?
Free agency for pitching. Just do it this offseason. Rebuild the staff.

Sox @ Tribe, 7/27, 6:10 CT, Gamethread - PPD Rain
Hate to say it but tomorrow's DH is big. We're 1-2. If we go 1-4 it's the same ol same ol as far as our team. Win two would be great. Split and everything's OK. Lose 2 and I'm sorry, not overreacting, but 1-4 is a LOUSY start.

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
I love how people mock people for wearing masks in cars; I do it when I'm en route to a place I need to wear the mask so I don't forget it and have to walk back to the car. I still fear the older baseball coaches and the old college basketball coaches (there are a ton pushing 70 or over 70) contracting the virus. There are also older college football coaches and assistants. If somebody catches it and dies, there's going to be outrage and rightly so.

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
This should be a big week. KC at Detroit for four nights? Cmon. On the road, you would expect a lot of new cases. Hope not but I don't like players' chances traveling as much as they do.

ReyLo felt pain in start of game
Would somebody objectively rate this rotation and our bullpen? I don't feel qualified yet but I tell you the Sox pitching staff does not scream "excellent" to me, all the way through starters and relievers. If you guys tell me our rotation is playoff caliber and our pen is too, I'll believe you. I'm just skeptical and not because of one series.

7/26 GT - Twins at Sox - 1:10pm
This is why my love affair with baseball is challenged once the season starts. For whatever reason, most hitters are trying to hit it out of the park every single plate appearance. I guess modern analytics demands that an all or nothing approach makes you the most money on the free agent market. Also the strike zone bothers me and of course the fact there are so many gawd awful relievers/and starters in the game today, the Sox have their fair share of such stiffs. I will admit I love seeing my guy, Leury, clear the fence and of course Robert, Eloy et all, but home run derby does continue. As far as this past series, yes it means nothing as it's so early, but I remain very concerned about our starters not named Keuchel and Cease (hoping he's a special stud in 2020) and many many of our relievers. Our defense is what it is. I'm not going to criticize it but it certainly isn't elite. I think because of the fact we have three dandy catchers (Grandal, McCann, Collins), I'd have put together some kind of trade for pitching last offseason. Just my thoughts. Hopefully they are way off base. I know the home run is beloved and I'm not trying to say I am against our guys hitting them, but undeniably home run derby has taken over baseball in many ways. I'll be as happy as anybody when the Sox hit them.

Nice win. Keuchel pitching star of game. Leury offensive star of game with many runnersup. Very early in season but would be nice to go 2-1 tomorrow instead of 1-2 just for the hell of it.

Would be nice to win this series two games to one.

OMG Eloy up with two men on. BOOM?

In the old days I'd say Fulmer would own the Sox when he faces 'em. But the Sox should fear nobody, good pitchers or hacks, with this lineup.

How can Grandal and McCann be on the same team in this day and age when teams need catchers? Is that the best 1-2 catching combo in modern league history? McCann looks like one of those guys meant to be a White Sox. And Leury ... way to make up for a shaky opener. I kind of like Leury. No mad love yet like Abreu, etc., but I like his style.

Best long ball hitting team since the South Side Hit Men?

At least the bullpen has lots of bodies to choose from. We shall see which 2 or 3 become reliable.

Opening Day Game Thread: Twins @ White Sox, 7:10 PM CT
I watched most of the game. Just read the thread. Enjoyed many of the posts. This is like one of those playoff series with a night game followed by a day game and you can be 0-2 at home before you can say "hello baseball." If Dallas gets us the W and we're 1-1 I think we'll all be happy. That's all I have to say.

16 Team Playoffs in 2020 Agreed Upon
I don't know about that. Our pitching staff still has an abundance of question marks, not as many if Gio and Keuchel are great. A healthy/recovered Gio could stabilize that bullpen and I'm hoping our closer has a good year. It is far from certain we'll have lights out closer and setup. Our pitching staff certainly has enough bodies with strong potential for Coop to work with. Our pitching staff if it blossoms and is developed properly could make us a powerhouse going forward with some of the stars we have on the field and the fact we have one of the best catchers in the game. We may be close to a lock to make the playoffs. One thing is certain. Coop has the bodies. Time for him to work his magic. i'll take the expanded playoff format one year if it means we get in.

Interesting Ozzie quote on Cooper...revisits Castro quote
Yes as everybody knows I worship Ozzie so I'm not being critical. I just have problems understanding his accent.

COVID-19/Coronavirus thread
Thanks for info. Damn ... I never thought in my life if I returned to my city I'd immediately be quarantined 14 days in the hotel. This is the worst situation in America in my lifetime. Unbelievable. Add to that the social unrest. I won't get into this for obvious reasons (ban) but I can't take my eyes off the Portland riots every night and have a million opinions so if anybody needs info on what's going on in Portland DM me. GO SOX! Enjoyed watching the Cub game the other night. Couldn't figure out how to work NBC app to watch the second Cub game.

Jason Bennetti Haters Club
Cmon, let's not be a cliche fanbase hating on the announcer. Bennetti is great. He's very good. He's 9 out of 10. Keep him around. Love him.
