Long article worth a read. It's in the New York Post not written BY the Post for those who always discredit things. NYC is dead forever. Think Chicago isn't close to being dead as well? This guy who owns a comedy club, a good comedy club, moved when the mob tried to get in his building. https://nypost.com/2020/08/17/nyc-is-dead-forever-heres-why-james-altucher/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow&__twitter_impression=true&__twitter_impression=true
  2. Stone obviously has some problems with RR because if he supported him as manager he either wouldn't have responded to that tweet or would have used it to be a houseman and praise RR. The fact he responded to that tweet the way he did shows he has some problems with RR as manager. The Abreu deal? Is this a big deal on Chicago talk radio? It's not on the internet news sites. I would say I could see Abreu being pissed. Is it rare for a new guy to speak out after 15 games or so? Just asking. I'm not sure.
  3. We can't have on campus education. Why? The second we open up, if we test, we'll get stories like this. Everybody in this sorority is quarantined at Oklahoma State after 23 cases? This is ridiculous. Now they are all trapped in there a couple weeks. Other dorms where they don't test around the country? It's just not doable. I am starting to think the country is about OK with herd mentality. Everybody's gonna get this virus. https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/16/us/osu-sorority-covid-trnd/index.html
  4. What is your problem Yearnin. Now you are after Abreu again. Can't you be a fan? He's signed for several years. He's not going anywhere. What is your problem? Your take is completely off base. How do you know how he thinks about things. Let the guy play. He hit a bullet for a HR today. He's a good ballplayer; sorry he's not a Top Ten player in the league. Not everybody can be one of the best 10 players in the league. He's a fricking good baseball player who even tries to get better in the offseason, see his good defense this year. Give JOSE A BREAK please.
  5. Sox are the biggest story in baseball this Sunday with this feat of power.
  6. Has to be a team record for consecutive HRs.
  7. This is more like it. Great defensive play by Mendick and pitching precedes bombardment at the plate.
  8. Mendick should have turned around and ran back when he didn't hear contact. He'd have had a better chance, nyuk nyuk.
  9. Mendick's good fortune ran out (by a mile). Great defensive play; excellent hit and run. Running in quicksand on the steal.
  10. I woulda let Timmy just hit there. Danny got nailed.
  11. You can have your analytics (HR or K every at bat). That Mendick hit and run was BASEBALL baby. I like it.
  12. That Mendick play wakes up the club and Sox score 3-4 this inning. Put that on the board. Knock on wood.
  13. One thing these negative comments in a few threads are proving: Greg is not longer even close to the most hyperbolous poster. Wish the Sox hitters would relax, take a few walks and hit like Eloy does when he gets hot. They have to be aware slow stuff is coming or stuff out of the zone in the dirt a lot.
  14. This is the right take. We have to accept fact that the Sox as he said have a ton of hackers. And the rest he said, too. No need to panic especially with all the injuries.
  15. Some of you guys are really freaking out. How come nobody is blaming the state of hitting philosophy in today's baseball? As long as it's HR or strikeout being preferred, this team is probably going to struggle ... except the nights the superstars (Eloy, Robert, Moncada, Timmy, Grandal) hit several homers between them. Or nights Abreu, EE, Mazura hit a couple. There will be plenty of nights we score a lot of runs in a normal season. Our bats are too potent to not score a ton of runs. As far as pitching ... the staff needs help. I'll be shocked if we make the playoffs and/or win the ALCS with this pitching staff. As far as Ricky ... cmon. How important is a manager? I'm not crazy about RR, but I don't think he's a clown, either. Defensively? Sox are average at best. Good luck to the Sox but the team isn't as bad as some are saying and getting rid of RR isn't that important.
  16. Plate discipline has been a problem of young hitters, especially Sox hitters, for a long time. He'll learn what to do with the slow stuff and be fine. He is a superstar in the wings. Timmy should talk to him more about hitting, too. He's not unplayable in the field, cause he's playing out there every day, nyuk nyuk. Hopefully he can improve cause he's our LF of the future. Why worry about the hitting of our superstar candidates, Eloy, Timmy, Robert, Moncada, etc., they are going to hit.
  17. I forgot he went off the other day. I'm glad he did that as a leader but I still say a lot of "being flat" is cliche. As far as Eloy, he'll be fine. This team is still going to hit IMO. I'm very down on the pitching, actually. And of course the defense.
  18. Cmon guys, this being flat stuff is cliche. We would get laughed out of the MLB clubhouses if telling MLB coaches and GMs and ballplayers our team always looks flat. You look flat when you have "some" very bad defensive players and when you are not hitting the ball.
  19. Bad game. Just tip your cap (aarg did I say that?) and move on to Game Two. This season is so crazy it's just a development year for several players. That's why I hope Madrigal gets back and we bring up Vaughn, too. Hahn has more work to do on the pitching staff. We need another Keuchel or two if we want to win it all. That ridiculous Leury injury did not help this current team at all.
  20. Man, the fact Carolina has two clusters in dorms should tell everybody we just can't reopen colleges. It's too obvious that people from all over different states and countries are going to next week be invading campuses. Unless we are trying for herd mentality we are all doomed. I was listening to Baba Booey's kid on Howard Stern show. He's going back to Syracuse and having all online classes. Seems $illy to bring back $tudent$ just to take online classes from their apartments. Hope my mask protects me cause Covid is coming to town in bunches this next week and beyond. How can UNC not shut down those dorms? https://www.wral.com/coronavirus/unc-reports-coronavirus-clusters-in-student-housing-at-ehringhaus-community-and-granville-towers/19235920/
  21. True. I would think Leury's problem is big for an MLB player. Ptatc? Interesting way to stall or maybe end a career. Very silly decision to slide into first like he did.
  22. That last at bat was beautiful. A line drive smash. I don't like the lift and pull, HR or strikeout nature of baseball. I'll take some line drives and ducksnorts and bunts against shifts, too.
  23. I assume Timmy hit right into the shift? I saw the ball was rolling up the middle. If so, I continue to hate the shift.
  24. CNN had the same story, but I try to boycott them personally.
