  1. I'm still a big Jose Abreu fan ... 3-4, 2 RBI; Eloy baby!
  2. I've now blocked four people, but not caulfield. ... So Nebraska still wants to play football and is exploring all options. They don't agree with the Big10 commish's decision. Should be interesting. I'd think the SEC would add them to the pile and let the Huskers play a year. Moral of the story: Don't mess with Nebraskans and their college football. Say what you want, but NU football is probably THE most important thing in the entire state to the people. Surpassing everything else. How dare the league decide to nix football when 3 other leagues are (still) at this time giving it a shot?
  3. I'm thinking the new normal of lift and pull everything, K or HR, is not necessarily the best course of action for the majority of Sox hitters. I never understood why with two strikes hitters don't try for contact only and to get on base.
  4. I've obeyed everything. Yes I deeply, badly, sorely wanted a haircut entering the third month. My mental health doesn't matter of course, just the other zillion people in the country, especially the protestors. Wanting that haircut makes me worse than the devil. I get it. I'll stop now. You can get in the last word now if u wish. Thanks for your concern/admonitions against me.
  5. No, but I think the teams would have strict rules and if caught big-time consequences like suspensions and early a.m. running, etc. I think teams know how serious it is because of the coaches/ADs. Students will just do what they normally do.
  6. Does your niece return to campus to do the online work? Kansas is 80 percent online but you have to come to Lawrence which is ridiculous. They just want the money assured. As far as students social distancing. I'm not laughing at you, but have to laugh. Cmon. The frats and dorms will be holding covid-19 parties after hours. Kids don't take precautions on campus.
  7. Thanks for the potshot at me. Sad world. All civility is gone. Just hate.
  8. OK I have a question for the Big Ten: Why are your students returning to campus if it's unsafe to play sports? The football players actually would have been safer in their dorms and taking online classes than the normal student population crowded into the college town and in classrooms. The regular students are going to have to sign forms resolving the university of all liability regarding COVID. You wait. If these schools aren't playing sports, there's NO REASON to keep these kids on campus. They will be even MORE AT RISK than the athletes. Cmon. Send the kids home or tell 'em to stay home. On campus learning for colleges is RIDICULOUS if sports aren't allowed. UNSAFE!!
  9. That's got to be changed. The guy leapt high and ultimately couldn't hang on. That can't be an error.
  10. Nebraska and Iowa want to play. The SEC wants to play. I truly think the Big 12 wants to play if their main medical consultants give the OK (I know how corrupt sports are and some will think this naive, but I think they still want to play if they got the OK from their medical people; and I think their medical people are the ones saying to play; or at least to this point have not ruled it out at all). The question is do any other people want to play? One more conference would allow for some football between the Big 12 and SEC teams plus Nebraska and Iowa. Frost wants to play! I will concede as of today it sure looks like no spectator sports with fans at least until start of college basketball season in January (assuming no first semester play). Before that, only NFL to have fans? https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29634231/scott-frost-says-nebraska-prepared-look-all-options-including-playing-big-ten

Are we allowed to start a thread or comment here about the riots in Chicago Sunday night? Heard and read it was bad. Hope everybody is safe amid the chaos.
  12. I like watching our guys play, but cmon, it's a joke. St. Louis has played five games. Guys are getting hurt at an alarming rate, which is serious. This season is a disaster, but good experience for our kids.
  13. It's a perfect year for Robert to get used to MLB. This season, quite frankly, is a joke. It is what it is. Some baseball to enjoy. In Sox case some youngsters can get some MLB at bats. Robert will adjust. His BA is great. 22 Ks in 59 at bats. Whatever. All big league standouts will have a zillion strikeout during their careers considering the new norma (K or HR). Love me some Robert.
  14. Not in the mood to watch 7 Sox relievers go after a bad Anderson outing. I'm out at 6-0 after watching nice win last nite. Hope we can rally.
  15. Amen brother! I love Ozzie. I am loyal to WS champions. That's my take. I have one title in my lifetime and he did a fine job that postseason.
  16. I know I made a post in the preseason that there will probably be a ton of injuries this season. I'm not the only one. Should they have held two more weeks of summer, spring training? This is crazy. Sox pitching can't afford many more injuries or they are going to have to acquire some independent league hacks.
  17. Those two strikes were hittable ... damn.
  18. Is the Valley today going to allow nonconference games in Sept., but postpone league action until spring? Weird.
  19. In the words of every politician after a commercial, "I do not approve this message." I disagree with a lot of this. I don't like shifts. I love the few times players bunt in that vast area of green left by shifts.
  20. Don't. forget, Ned Yost won a WS title. The Cubs' genius finally was escorted out the door. You got good players you win; bad ones you lose. You think a baseball mind like RR doesn't know he's rolling the dice a lot because of a sub par pitching staff? He knows Eloy is sub par in left. He can't go out there and demand Eloy take fungoes for 3 hours a day. Eloy has to work on his defense in the off seasons. Did he? Dunno. Not much RR can do about pitching staff injuries and sit-outs and lack of effective arms. It works together arm in arm with Hahn but despite many questionable moves by RR, I don't think it matters much. Even Dusty ... he's never won a WS so many think he's bad. I'm just saying, Ricky may deserve a grade of C to C- but does it matter? Why did the Cubs start to sour on Mr. Analytics? Etc. And I won't lose any sleep if Ricky is fired.
  21. Geez. This is utterly scary and depressing.
  22. Kansas, Missouri and Kentucky have an awful lot of new cases. Like KC today and every day lately, something like 400 new cases?? WTF is happening in the world with this virus? 400 is a lot of people to wake up yesterday and say, "I think I've got corona." Everybody's masking up now in Lawrence at least. These numbers are annoying me. Also Kentucky seems to get 400 new cases a day. WTF. (I'd like to start laying into China where this disease was invented right now in this post, but not sure it's allowed to freak out).
  23. My only complaint about modern all or nothing, HR or strikeout hitters, is with two strikes I'd prefer they just try to get a hit. I'm thinking the odds of turning a 1-2 or 0-2 count into a HR are pretty low. There will be a ton of games our stars do hit multiple-homers, however.
  24. I love Bennetti and Stone. I really do. I take exception to their pretending we had a chance to rally and win from five down with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. I coulda have done without that homer-ism there. Cmon, don't insult us. The team is one under .500 not some juggernaut yet. Just my pet peeve. Sox were not going to rally and win with one out to spare and needing a five-spot to tie. I do love the duo and enjoyed Stoney talking about Bruce Sutter's splitter, etc. Bad loss BTW. We pretty much got smoked.
