AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I will preface my happiness by reminding everybody that the Royals have one of the worst teams in baseball, likely THE worst. And we were in the process of blowing a 7-run lead at one point just as last night we couldn't put KC away after the 3-run Engel homer. Enough of the negativity. ... All of our superstar candidates played like the future superstars they are. ... Starting pitching was good enough, actually excellent. .... Don't give Heuer that much credit just cause he hits 99 tonight. He still gave up some hits. ... Glad to see Jose get two hits and Grandal showed why he is worth that big contract. I would applaud the White Sox for dusting off a bad baseball team two nights in a row. It'd be nice to sweep this wretched ballclub, but no matter what 2 of 3 isn't bad. I sorely want to get over .500 and stay there until the season is called cause of virus spread. GO SOX!

8/1 Sox vs Royals GT
Cmon Jack; you can praise him a little more than that after that sensational game. Right?

8/1 Sox vs Royals GT
As a Sox fan you should love him. He stinks and if he's on the parent club he'll help the Sox win ballgames.

8/1 Sox vs Royals GT
If Delmonico must be on the team and not in Schaumberg, I hope he starts hitting. He is a key factor in our lineup. Message to players: Jose ... relax and have fun (the season could be over soon enuff), and start hitting liners and high arching homers. Some of you others: Relax. See the ball, keep hitting it hard.

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
Balta love your posts Covid related. How about emergency meeting saying we'll set up two bubble pods and be ready to go on Friday. Arizona and Florida or wherever. It's the only hope.

MLB COVID-19 outbreaks: None of as Sept 18
To me, in a complicated issue it's pretty simple. Travel still is not safe even with distancing on airplanes. Any sport teams that are going to travel are in danger of lots of COVID cases at any point. It's been discussed ad nausem. COVID lurking everywhere on the road. Colleges getting ready to play football angers me. Not a responsible thing to do unless we're trying to do the herd mentality thing which frankly scares me. Anytime somebody says hospitals may run out of ventilators/beds is scary in the USA. Even with the Cardinals announcement today, we may be one more breakout incident (oh, it'll be coming I'm sure) from calling off the season even with Manfred saying what he is saying. Cain's announcement I predict is three days ahead of the end of baseball I predict. It'll be called off for the season on Tuesday. (A true leader would put together a bubble plan to implement in Arizona within a week; it's the only hope but will not occur I'm sure). Colleges? Wake up before it's too late. Unless u are trying for herd mentality, stop the students from coming back. This is going to be a disaster.

Can't believe we only scored 3 runs. Narrow victory against a miserable team but we'll all take the W.

Right, but McCann was pissed and pitcher had to get the last word so to speak. He should be mad.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
Why can't grown men with basically one job do the job as 3B coach? There was 0 percent chance, OK 5 percent chance Madrigal was going to score there on Gordon. Sickening coaching.

All the unwritten rules and gamesmanship in baseball can grow old.

He's not good but he's a very nice guy and Jim Lefebre's son. The color man is like Stoney, excellent. Jeff Montgomery. Hudler is absent tonight which God forbid, hope it's not COVID. Hudler isn't the type to miss a game.

McBroom is a funny name; kind of like the episode where the Stooges drink Scotch in Scotland.

Applause for Engel on that at bat and what he brings to the team. I think he's a fine ballplayer.

7/31 Sox vs Royals GT
I love Jose and Grandal obviously but add me to the list of not liking Jose third and Grandal fourth. When he came up, my instant thought was DP letting the rookie lefty off the hook. Indeed he hit a bullet and it was a GREAT defensive DP by KC. But I'd prefer Anderson, Madrigal, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Abreu, Grandal, Engel and McCann.

More rule changes for 2020?
True dat. The Marlins situation will happen again. At least the odds are heavy that there will be teams that explode in number of cases after a road trip.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Flip flop Abreu and Robert and pray Madrigal is ready and Mazara is competent and you have a winner here. Also EE has to play every day. As much as I love McCann, Grandal is the everyday catcher. McCann is the odd man out as much as I like him.

He should be playing every day til the injured RF returns. No more Nicky please. Let Engle play. He 'might' be a major leaguer; Nicky is not.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Nice win. Makes me believe/hope our starters simply weren't ready to start the season which is understandable considering the wacky repeat of spring training. Hopefully our pitchers will copy Gio and all will rebound and have better starts as Gio did today. It would be nice to start winning series starting now in KC. We're 0-2 on series but tonight was nice. Obviously it coulda gone either way and we'd be down had we lost again today.

That's right. Agreed on him.

Illinois High School Football Thread
So no Brother Rice football until Feb. 15. Illinois State High School Activities Association ruled today football will be played in the spring, starting Feb. 15. Assuming you need to let the kids work out a month in advance, they'll be practicing in Chicago winter weather Jan. 15 or so? So many questions. Are voluntary workouts allowed in the fall? So these kids will basically be practicing the first day of school until hitting it hard on Jan. 15? Or are workouts not allowed at all til the actual football season? Will some of the seniors who have landed scholarships just sit this one out? I mean you make it all the way to February, why bother? Can you imagine if we have a winter that is especially cold or snowy? You have three games in February, then four in March, four in April and the playoffs in May before graduation? I don't see why some of the sports like CC are allowed to be played in the fall and not football. Yes cases are going up and science predicts a gloomy outlook. But this winter could be spike city. In conclusion ... February weather, so close to graduation ... why would a senior football player even bother? Just fix the itch playing on the streets and parks of Chicago and move on to college. Sad day.

Ozzie calling out Ricky's lineups
They are going to hit, I'm pretty confident of that if they stay healthy. No doubt this team has a zillion 5 home run games in them with so many guys going for the fences as is the desired approach these days.

Ozzie calling out Ricky's lineups
If he is doing that, then he is the dumbest man alive. He's not ever going to manage again. Geez. We are in an era there was a violent protest held in Grant Park not even two weeks ago. Chicago like the rest of the country is ON EDGE. The world is ALL about PC and he can't be PC. If he gets named manager, immediately everyone will dig out his statements of the past, put them on Twitter and the Sox will have to cancel/fire him in ONE DAY. ... Maybe he's trying to be a good analyst on TV.

Lambert to the IL
The Sox remain what they are: A team with several electric, all-star everyday players and a pitching staff, that evidence suggests, is so average to poor it probably will prevent the team from being a playoff contender. Right now it's Keuchel, Kopech (on hold a year) and pray Cease and Giolito are sensational and Rodon is well above average. I've pretty much given up on Lopez as being anything possibly special. Also we can disagree but the bullpen IMO is not playoff caliber either. We shall see. We know this. We have stars in Eloy, Robert, Moncada, Tim, maybe Madrigal, Jose, McCann, Grandal and EE.

7/28 Sox/Indians Double Header thread
Chicago should hold a parade if/when the Sox ever crush the .500 mark. The Sox are losers until they can get over .500. They are allergic to .500.

7/28 Sox/Indians Double Header thread
Losing both games of a doubleheader this early in the season is hard to do and unacceptable to winning organizations. Congrats Sox on such a crappy start to the season. Geez. Wake up and somebody teach these guys how to win games!! As good as they looked against the Cubs, they've REEKED.
