  1. This is why my love affair with baseball is challenged once the season starts. For whatever reason, most hitters are trying to hit it out of the park every single plate appearance. I guess modern analytics demands that an all or nothing approach makes you the most money on the free agent market. Also the strike zone bothers me and of course the fact there are so many gawd awful relievers/and starters in the game today, the Sox have their fair share of such stiffs. I will admit I love seeing my guy, Leury, clear the fence and of course Robert, Eloy et all, but home run derby does continue. As far as this past series, yes it means nothing as it's so early, but I remain very concerned about our starters not named Keuchel and Cease (hoping he's a special stud in 2020) and many many of our relievers. Our defense is what it is. I'm not going to criticize it but it certainly isn't elite. I think because of the fact we have three dandy catchers (Grandal, McCann, Collins), I'd have put together some kind of trade for pitching last offseason. Just my thoughts. Hopefully they are way off base. I know the home run is beloved and I'm not trying to say I am against our guys hitting them, but undeniably home run derby has taken over baseball in many ways. I'll be as happy as anybody when the Sox hit them.
  2. Nice win. Keuchel pitching star of game. Leury offensive star of game with many runnersup. Very early in season but would be nice to go 2-1 tomorrow instead of 1-2 just for the hell of it.
  3. Would be nice to win this series two games to one.
  4. OMG Eloy up with two men on. BOOM?
  5. In the old days I'd say Fulmer would own the Sox when he faces 'em. But the Sox should fear nobody, good pitchers or hacks, with this lineup.
  6. How can Grandal and McCann be on the same team in this day and age when teams need catchers? Is that the best 1-2 catching combo in modern league history? McCann looks like one of those guys meant to be a White Sox. And Leury ... way to make up for a shaky opener. I kind of like Leury. No mad love yet like Abreu, etc., but I like his style.
  7. Best long ball hitting team since the South Side Hit Men?
  8. At least the bullpen has lots of bodies to choose from. We shall see which 2 or 3 become reliable.
  9. I watched most of the game. Just read the thread. Enjoyed many of the posts. This is like one of those playoff series with a night game followed by a day game and you can be 0-2 at home before you can say "hello baseball." If Dallas gets us the W and we're 1-1 I think we'll all be happy. That's all I have to say.
  10. I don't know about that. Our pitching staff still has an abundance of question marks, not as many if Gio and Keuchel are great. A healthy/recovered Gio could stabilize that bullpen and I'm hoping our closer has a good year. It is far from certain we'll have lights out closer and setup. Our pitching staff certainly has enough bodies with strong potential for Coop to work with. Our pitching staff if it blossoms and is developed properly could make us a powerhouse going forward with some of the stars we have on the field and the fact we have one of the best catchers in the game. We may be close to a lock to make the playoffs. One thing is certain. Coop has the bodies. Time for him to work his magic. i'll take the expanded playoff format one year if it means we get in.
  11. A lot of our restaurants have big glass shields that go high up like a hockey rink.
  12. Yes as everybody knows I worship Ozzie so I'm not being critical. I just have problems understanding his accent.
  13. Thanks for info. Damn ... I never thought in my life if I returned to my city I'd immediately be quarantined 14 days in the hotel. This is the worst situation in America in my lifetime. Unbelievable. Add to that the social unrest. I won't get into this for obvious reasons (ban) but I can't take my eyes off the Portland riots every night and have a million opinions so if anybody needs info on what's going on in Portland DM me. GO SOX! Enjoyed watching the Cub game the other night. Couldn't figure out how to work NBC app to watch the second Cub game.
  14. Cmon, let's not be a cliche fanbase hating on the announcer. Bennetti is great. He's very good. He's 9 out of 10. Keep him around. Love him.
  15. Ozzie will never manage again cause of his mouth, but as some on here may remember I love him. Back in the day it didn't help Oz that Mariotti was in town. Those two were in a personal war it seems and Oz seemed to be even more outspoken those days. Of course his worst bit actually was in Miami over his statements on Castro. If Oz could master the English language a bit better ... he'd be the most outstanding/funny/controversial MLB announcer maybe in history. As it stands now it's kind of hard to understand him. I love him though.
  16. Eloy's coming. He good.
  17. There are going to be so many new cases starting in August when colleges report. The kids are not going to stop socializing and partying. Closing the bars for good will help but they figure to go to their own parties in that case.
  18. LOL at "b****" about fans. That's a great characterization of what I was doing. You would make a great attorney BTW. Hopefully that's your field. You'd make a lot of money as a trial attorney. First game on TV without fans is a big topic of discussion. I made a comment on it, lol, suggestion a couple thousands fans would be a threat to nobody in such a huge stadium with no concessions.
  19. That was very enjoyable even with no fans. Looks like the quality of baseball will be excellent. The guy that started for the Sox looked awful. I love Eloy and Robert of course. Grandal looked great. And once again Leury was fine. Now I feel better about letting him start over Madrigal. Leury is a pro. Is there any reason to not let 2000 fans go to games? Have no parking attendants, no concessions available, make 2 men's bathrooms and 2 women's available for the 2000 fans. It's silly to not allow 2000 fans in a 40000 stadium.
  20. My arm hurts just thinking of that wacky pitching motion of his. During the stoppage I forgot about the large group of relievers who are ineffective.
  21. Geez I can be a dope, a moron, a jerk, but those are not going to be among my last words. I will be pissed if the reason I die is corona, though. Obviously it could cause my death, God willing against it I desperately hope, but I hope I don't die of something as awful (in a physical, societal, blame game sense) as corona.

It's certainly been No. 1 reason we've become (much worse anyway) a country full of angry people. Boy oh boy do Americans hate each other.
  23. Madrigal has a quick bat, at least did there. I wish he'd start at second. Nothing to lose in a 60-game season. But I realize he won't make the team.
  24. He has zero chance of working again in baseball cause of his mouth that roars. It's all about PC and he won't play.
  25. I didn't bump any post for gawd sakes. It was sitting there and I responded to it. It wasn't my bump that put it there. Geez. Not demanding it but u should apologize. Not fair to accuse and let it go.
