  1. Yep, I realize Mr. Hahn doesn't want Tatis to be injured. Nobody but the devil wants people to fail like that. But it does forever take Hahn off the hook, the fact this young man gets hurt a lot. I hope his back heals nicely but these are warning signs that take the Sox off the hook IMO. Eloy forever; Tatis forever! Rest your back young man! Come back strong.
  2. Great point. Rather than waste a second blasting Abreu and expressing desire to let him walk, fans IMO should think about this over and over. Alonso got 9 million. Where's the outrage. What wasted cash. Paying Abreu is the right thing to do. It's just monopoly money, folks, to those owners. Alonso gets 9 mill for NOTHING.
  3. I accept the moniker "Abreunik" gladly. Bring it on. I'm a proud Abreunik baby. No doubt I am.
  4. Society is very mean right now. Sports are very "what have you done for me lately" right now. Jose Abreu is everything that's right with sports and specifically White Sox baseball.
  5. Angels announcers raving about Abreu's play there. My gosh I love that guy (in a true baseball sense; what a pro).
  6. You can't react enough about the 2019 Sox losing 4 in a row to Kansas City, one of the worst teams imaginable. No hyperbole it ranks as one of the worst series in modern White Sox history. To go 0-4 vs. that bunch ... wow. It shows how truly bad this Sox team can be when it wants to be.
  7. This is pretty much my position as well.
  8. You are crazy IMO. Fact: People are bagging on Abreu in this and other threads. Fact: I worship the guy in a baseball sense. Fact: I battle back and support the guy. Some of my defenses of him are short; some longer. Few get any comments at all except the cold hard advanced stats that deny the intangibles and the fact he's an all-star who is not that old yet. Two years 26 million with a team option Year Three. Why not? I've already listed posts on what our lineup should look like.
  9. I'm glad I don't live in the stat world that says Abreu is a blah to bad player. Wow. My stat world has him what baseball world common folk regular stat peeps say he is AN ALL STAR BABY!
  10. In answer to your question ... hell no I would not want Belt for a two year 34 million deal and players. You bring up a good question. I don't know your position on this but I'm very surprised some of the guys on the board do not believe in team leadership. I know all about Fake News and all that, but for years, decades one of the hottest topics surrounding teams (not just college and high school, but pro) is leadership: Coaches/managers are asked day after day by media: "Who is emerging as team leader? How is the team looking in terms of Leadership? ..." Well we've got Abreu the best possible leader who is not making a ton of money and won't be making a (bleep)ton of money in his next 2-3 year deal. It's a no brainer. We've already got superstars (IMO) in Moncada, Timmy, Eloy, Robert and projected superstars in Madrigal and Vaughn. I'm sure Hahn will sign somebody very very good or even keep Leury if Rutherford is a bust for RF. So why in the hell would you replace a known LEADER in Abreu? Why? It makes absolutely no sense. You think he's not worth his next contract in his ability alone to work with young Cuban players? You think it's easy to come over here and excel when not even knowing the language? It's a lot easier and more fun when you've got a class act like Jose Abreu showing young Cuban players the way. The only reason you'd not bring him back as our glue guy (with McCann) is you fear he is ready to pull a Konerko (late Konerko) and suddenly became unable to hit .200. Or he'll become a Fisk (late Fisk) and suddenly not be able to catch the ball. For some reason I get the feeling some posters think he's going to suddenly go from an All-Star to one of the worst players in baseball just because the calendar moves a few months. Folks, the man is going to get a 2 or 3 year deal and that's it!! It's not like u are signing Pujols for 7 more years. The suggested upgrade you get to replace Abreu is NOT WORTH the danger of wrecking team chemistry or impeding team chemistry. It's obvious the pitchers love McCann from the dugout shots; it;'s obvious Jose is mentoring the young talent! It's obvious! So keep both. And if Vaughn is so much better than Jose NOW, fine. Jose can grudgingly accept being the DH or splitting DH/1B with Vaughn. Thanks for your time. Please read this post 3 times before commenting. I think it will grow on you and you will see my point. I have some points and am not just throwing out praise like a certain poster throws out disdain on Jose!
  11. McCann's slam was special. It is the crowning blow in his amazing season. Is he really only making $2.5 million this year? It's a no brainer to sign him for next year. He and Collins should split time and Collins can wait his turn to be the main guy like Karko did. Timmy! Eloy is so special it's unfair to the rest of baseball! Abreu another multi hit/RBI game. I tell you I wonder sometimes why we're not over .500. We've got some good players. If we keep McCann (2 years 24 million) and Abreu (2 years 26 million) we have the leadership part taken care of. Our young guys are all cheap. Hahn needs to prove he's a great GM, figure out what we need and acquire it in free agency to start winning big in 2020. No need to waste such talent some of these players possess! At any rate in this winners thread ... hail to Eloy, McCann, Tim Anderson, Castillo, Abreu as well as Colome. Just.Win.Baby.In.2020
  12. What a great victory. Once again a lot of individual stars. McCann cements his season as a resounding success with that granny. Eloy and Abreu and Timmy. My gawd he is good. There's so much talent on this team there just has to be a season we finish over .500 one of these days. Hahn should be having a blast getting this team to win ASAP cause he has the core players in place. Love the way (for the most part) the Sox have played at home. Had some very nice wins in another horrid season. Let's motivate Mr. Hahn to get it done soon.
  13. Anybody complaining about Eloy has rocks in the head. S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R
  14. That it's home run or strikeout, nothing else really needed.
  15. Nova appears to have turned it around. Might as well keep him around next year to see if he's dominant with the Sox after adjusting one season. That's a nice job last night by Nova.
  16. I guess I need to be educated by the stat lovers. As a good Little League and Babe Ruth League (or American Legion I forget what they called our league at Mt. Greenwood) player (didn't make team at Bro Rice; too many boys back then tried out) I always did think a walk was as good as a hit. But I thought in this day and age a single (or a walk) were to be discarded as invaluable. So why the deep concern over on base percentage? Just wondering. I feel like that article vindicated my position. The author called Jose "elite."
  17. I'm a White Sox fan through and through. Look (favorite word of presidential candidates) I want to win then. I want to win now. I demand the GM do his job and get a small market (yeah right) team like the Sox atop a crap division. I WANT TO WIN PERIOD. That's all there is. As far as Abreu ... I also as a fan have my favorites. Of course I want him on my team. He's proven himself to this fan..
  18. I'll never believe we had to tank to get excellent again.
  19. greg775 replied to bmags's topic in SLaM
That's crazy story. People are so angry I'm glad the guy didn't slug you. All we can do is get the more aggressive people arrested.
  20. See my opinions aren't that radical. Some people agree with greg about Jose my idol (baseball idol).
  21. Way to go, Nova. Can't hate u if u pitch like that. Jose baby! Nice dig on the throw. Nobody cares but me prolly but nice scoop sir. oops it was Scole. My bad.
  22. Almost all our players have had their good moments. But yet as a team we blow chunks most of the time. Weird. I'd like to try it with a good manager one year. I mean Nova has had some excellent outings, this one by far his best against a great team.
  23. Thanks for clarifying Bubba.
  24. I don't think he sucks.
  25. I disagree. The Sox certainly could have paid him what he wanted for a few more years. If the Sox can't afford Tyler Flowers ... wow. I just wish Jerry would sell the team. He's got his one WS ring.
