No, it is not worth paying any starter mega millions. This goes against my motto of making Jerry pay until it hurts for players but no pitchers are worth 150 to 200 million over 5-6 years. They are too brittle and we're going to a new era where we're going to have openers on all teams before long.

Amen Bama, it's why I said the Hall of Fame might as well close its doors to players of this generation and beyond. Nobody's going to have the numbers even close to worthy of admission. Well maybe a couple, but very very few pitchers and only a couple hitters. For when they hit 30, the retirement watch will be on. Nobody's going to want "old" players and pitchers will only be going 3-5 innings max.

They should at least give the fans free popcorn and peanuts after enduring that horrific baseball game. Or show Halloween after Field of Dreams. Horror.

I tend to agree more than disagree with your rash of posts in here on this topic. It all boils down to this: I'm not sure where the American workplace became a place in which the man/woman at the top, the CEO, makes 12 to 20 million dollars a year and everybody else makes pennies so to speak and told they are "lucky they have a job." Anyhow, these CEOs simply are not worth the kind of jack they are making and the little guy so to speak should not be paid so little and terrorized daily on the job by supervisors who are scared to death of the CEOs. In short ... CEO's making way too much; corporate little guys/gals are making way too little and are being terrorized. HR departments are a joke; they are there primarily to prevent management from getting sued. Just my opinion. interesting posts, Jack.

If they used the N word and were calling people "Jewish" and you told them to cut it out you and they still did it, you absolutely did the right thing. You probably did the right thing even without warning them. I mean what animals are using the N word today and calling people Jewish for being cheap?? I mean I'm flabbergasted your friends would say the N word around you. It's animalistic behavior and uncalled for and you had to discard them as friends. I'm surprised they haven't been shot or attacked in public if they are saying it that much, surely somebody will hear them in public settings and attack them. I remember when I was in college I had a friend who in a group pulled a "Flounder" in Animal House and tried to give me a nickname I didn't like or want. After they all got a good laugh I said immediately, "If you call me that again, I'm done with you and anybody who calls me that. I've got enough going on I'm not going to accept that name." They told me to calm down and never used that name again. I was prepared to change my social life and who I hung out with over that issue it pissed me off that much. A lot of what fans feel makes no sense. There's this weird optic that calls for not paying out any money to players unless they are Machado/Harper types then it's give them whatever they want.
