  1. I disagree. Our board has been very receptive to the Sox initial pick in drafts during this tank job. I hesitated to express caution on Madrigal for instance. And Vaughn was proclaimed instant fan favorite!
  2. small sample size since the all star break. For some reason I envision Oakland acquiring him. Didn't Semien and Phegley also rank low in advanced stat stuff? And they've been fine additions to the A's.
  3. That would be acceptable to me. Caulfield you almost made my top three but you are a little out there sometimes.
  4. I've said in threads 3 years 39 million (as a reward for past service and penalty to cheap Jerry), but would be OK with 2 years 24 million with a club option year three for another 12 mill. Or 2 years 22 million with some incentives and a club option for year three for 11 mill. Sound good? What would it hurt? (I guess if some team will offer him 45 mill for three years my hero must go; but listening to you guys he'll never ever be worth or receive that kind of offer; hail Abreu!)
  5. Dick Allen is on a roll on here. I'd nominate Dick as most knowledgeable fan with PTATC second and fathom third. How bout u guys do a podcast with those three. I think Dick pretty much has correct takes on what's going on with the organization and so called rebuild; I think ptatc speaks for himself re. injuries and fathom has good basic knowledge. How bout u hold a podcast with the big three of soxtalk?

I think we know why. A four-letter word called 'tank.'

Thank goodness. Sounds like Reed should play independent ball or head to Japan. Glad he's gone. No need for him in our lineup ever.
  8. First I didn't know what it's about. It's also the time of year of NFL training camps, of talking about expanded rosters, of kids going back to school, etc. Secondly I like to read people's opinions on all topics. I like reading opinions of people who disagree with me and I an open to all forms of opinions and revelations. I just shouldn't respond and I won't in this thread. I will read it but no posts after this one. Thank u.
  9. Great reminder fathom! Will help me avoid getting suspended! Thank u sir and I mean it sincerely. Is there anyway to pin fathom's post somewhere as a reminder?
  10. Well, those guys I mentioned are the guys that are going to have to win pennants via the rebuilt roster. Collins is part of it and Rutherford is part of it to go with all those other guys who are all projected to be all stars. So what's left is the rotation and bullpen. To those who would disagree with me, I'd say what next then? Do you agree this lineup is it for the contendening years perhaps with the exception of Rutherford? Timmy leadoff followed by Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Abreu, Vaughn, Rutherford (or new RFer), Collins (McCann backup catcher) and Madrigal. We have enough power with Eloy, Abreu, Vaughn Moncada, Robert. Pretty good infield defense. Probably subpar outfield defense; good catching. But pitching? What's Hahn gonna do? Do we have enough for 2020 to win it? Gio, Lopez, Kopech and Cease with a FA. Are they good enough? Colome and Bummer enough to anchor a winning pen? I see no reason to make excuses for 2020. Can't Hahn engineer a good offseason of tinkering to put us at 90 wins finally??? How long do we gotta wait for my above mentioned players to gel?

I guess I am out of touch. I did not know about ghosting.
  12. Just what I was thinking poppy. WIth Madrigal and Robert on the big league team next year, cmon, it's time to win the division. There are really no excuses. The only people who won't expect excellence are the ones that are OK with Eloy, Robert, Madrigal, Vaughn, Collins having growing pains and allowing them to suck a year or two before they get great. Cmon. If they are division title caliber players they can show it next year. It's up to Hahn to get some pitching in the free agent market and I guess pray for health throughout the roster. I mean what holes do we have? C-Collins. 1B-Abreu. 2B-Madrigal. SS-Tim. 3B-Moncada. DH-Burger and Vaughn and Abreu can trade off. LF-Eloy. CF-Robert. RF-Rutherford. It's now or never baby. Pitching-Do you work, Hahn. Assemble a staff. Colome and Bummer allegedly are 2/3s of the 7th, 8th and 9th.
  13. We won't be signing any top of the line guys but we could sign some more Nova types. Hopefully we sign enough that several pan out. I guess there's always the chance Gio, Kopech, Cease, Lopez will be out of this world success stories. time will tell.
  14. The way I see it is he's going to have to pay for a lot of pitching in free agency if this team is ever going to take the next step. That's barring some sort of miracle that all our prospect pitchers, healthy and injured both, pan out to be superlative. If they stay healthy, we've got a pretty good everyday lineup starting next year with Robert and Madrigal on the big club and maybe Burger and Vaughn, too. Maybe Rutherford. It's actually time to see if the rebuild is going to work ... if Hahn signs pitching. We know they are not going to get the big guns who will command top dollar, so he needs to sign guys who are affordable in Jerry's world. I could see it going either way, frankly. We could start next season on paper a horrible team or start the season on paper our first contending team in the rebuild.
  15. Of course you should do it. This team is toast. All it took was the all star break to get it playing horrific baseball. OK, plus a couple injuries.
  16. Thank goodness he is gone. Another one out of here. Hopefully we'll keep dumping bad players.
  17. He could have worded it a different way. ... Arguably we are one of the worst franchises in professional baseball if not all pro sports. We're probably 20 percent from the bottom. Not sure what the one WS title does to it. We're definitely in the bottom half

Many people on here think I'm out of touch and clueless Sox fan which is fine. I just read this and did not know this existed so I thought I'd ask the current generation a question about work. Do you know anybody who has "ghosted?" Is this a true phenomenon? https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/people-ghosting-work-its-driving-companies-crazy-chip-cutter?trk=d_public_post_promoted_post
  19. You know, I'll never call for Hahn's job cause of the Eloy trade, but I can see why 'some' might want us to start winning as soon as 2020. Nobody ever said life was fair.
  20. We're going to need some serious depth in the future. Stuff happens and we've had some key key players miss some time. I don't know what the front office can do, but now that Tim is back Moncada is out. Eloy was out a while. I hope they expand rosters in the future. We may need to go two deep at some positions. Should be interesting to see what Hahn does to put together a championship roster. No question we'll have some real studs but we're going nowhere without pitching and defense. Never forget 2005 and what those starting pitchers did! GO SOX! Heal well Moncada, you are a stud.
  21. Thing is, modern baseball means injuries. Moncada out again; Eloy has missed time. Timmy. I'm not blaming them as injuries happen, but if this pattern continues, I don't think the rebuild will ever pay off. I guess it's wait and see.
  22. It's almost like Hahn felt he had to sign somebody just to get the payroll to an amount not completely embarrassing. I know that's probably not why he acquired the guys he did, but it sure seems that way. Can u imagine how low the payroll would be without Jay, Alonso and Nova?
  23. His on the field production got him on the all star team. I don't blame him for being in a funk since Gio became human and Timmy got hurt. It's the same ol same ol. You wait. If we had a contender he'd be raking. Baseball season is a marathon. He'll still hit .280 with a ton of RBI when all is said and done. And enuf homers. I love the way you guys speculate on my reasoning and behavior. But when I ask to you to examine yourselves you won't do it or will put me on ignore or the worst, ban me for trolling which I'm not doing. I'm just different than you. El Rockin is different too; nobody blasts him! I worship Jose yes but I also worship El Rockin (I've said in a non religious sense). Anyhow, Jose made the all star team because of his production ... next. I guess modern analytics doesn;'t call for slumps?
  24. I actually watch a lot of Sox baseball. Including most of tonight's game vs the Mets. I actually know more about the Sox than several of my friends who live in Chicago. I happen to give a resounding thumbs up to Abreu and don't want to see him traded. I mean we've had so many busts, who cares about some trade for prospects. No offense ... but Fulmer for instance No. 8 overall?? And you trust our front office to get decent players for Jose? Not me. I'd rather Jose get some of Jerry's money. Jerry doesn't need it. Not a good game tonight. Sox continue to lose a ton of games.
