A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Hogan is da man! Great post. There always are guys fans do this to. I am very surprised people turned on Jose. It's all about money though. Some vocal posters don't like to spend Jerry's money for some reason. Or they think saving here and there (not signing Jose) will help us sign guys like Manny. Whatever ... it's sad. Pick on somebody truly bad. Why is Jose the whipping boy? I mean I admit I was hard on Rios, but I've been pretty nice to other players.

'his bum ass' ... really? He's not a bum just because he's enconced in a slump.

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
I'm not asking for a banning as I like ron, but if greg had started this many threads on the same issue ... buy bye for 6 months greg. I'm not going to make a comment as there are plenty of threads for me to talk about one of my fave players.

small sample size since the all star break. For some reason I envision Oakland acquiring him. Didn't Semien and Phegley also rank low in advanced stat stuff? And they've been fine additions to the A's.

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
That would be acceptable to me. Caulfield you almost made my top three but you are a little out there sometimes.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
This is a fair post I feel.

Sox make no deadline moves
I've said in threads 3 years 39 million (as a reward for past service and penalty to cheap Jerry), but would be OK with 2 years 24 million with a club option year three for another 12 mill. Or 2 years 22 million with some incentives and a club option for year three for 11 mill. Sound good? What would it hurt? (I guess if some team will offer him 45 mill for three years my hero must go; but listening to you guys he'll never ever be worth or receive that kind of offer; hail Abreu!)

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
Dick Allen is on a roll on here. I'd nominate Dick as most knowledgeable fan with PTATC second and fathom third. How bout u guys do a podcast with those three. I think Dick pretty much has correct takes on what's going on with the organization and so called rebuild; I think ptatc speaks for himself re. injuries and fathom has good basic knowledge. How bout u hold a podcast with the big three of soxtalk?

AJ Reed optioned
I think we know why. A four-letter word called 'tank.'

AJ Reed optioned
Thank goodness. Sounds like Reed should play independent ball or head to Japan. Glad he's gone. No need for him in our lineup ever.

It's That Time Of The Year Again...
First I didn't know what it's about. It's also the time of year of NFL training camps, of talking about expanded rosters, of kids going back to school, etc. Secondly I like to read people's opinions on all topics. I like reading opinions of people who disagree with me and I an open to all forms of opinions and revelations. I just shouldn't respond and I won't in this thread. I will read it but no posts after this one. Thank u.

Sox make no deadline moves
Well, those guys I mentioned are the guys that are going to have to win pennants via the rebuilt roster. Collins is part of it and Rutherford is part of it to go with all those other guys who are all projected to be all stars. So what's left is the rotation and bullpen. To those who would disagree with me, I'd say what next then? Do you agree this lineup is it for the contendening years perhaps with the exception of Rutherford? Timmy leadoff followed by Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Abreu, Vaughn, Rutherford (or new RFer), Collins (McCann backup catcher) and Madrigal. We have enough power with Eloy, Abreu, Vaughn Moncada, Robert. Pretty good infield defense. Probably subpar outfield defense; good catching. But pitching? What's Hahn gonna do? Do we have enough for 2020 to win it? Gio, Lopez, Kopech and Cease with a FA. Are they good enough? Colome and Bummer enough to anchor a winning pen? I see no reason to make excuses for 2020. Can't Hahn engineer a good offseason of tinkering to put us at 90 wins finally??? How long do we gotta wait for my above mentioned players to gel?

Just what I was thinking poppy. WIth Madrigal and Robert on the big league team next year, cmon, it's time to win the division. There are really no excuses. The only people who won't expect excellence are the ones that are OK with Eloy, Robert, Madrigal, Vaughn, Collins having growing pains and allowing them to suck a year or two before they get great. Cmon. If they are division title caliber players they can show it next year. It's up to Hahn to get some pitching in the free agent market and I guess pray for health throughout the roster. I mean what holes do we have? C-Collins. 1B-Abreu. 2B-Madrigal. SS-Tim. 3B-Moncada. DH-Burger and Vaughn and Abreu can trade off. LF-Eloy. CF-Robert. RF-Rutherford. It's now or never baby. Pitching-Do you work, Hahn. Assemble a staff. Colome and Bummer allegedly are 2/3s of the 7th, 8th and 9th.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
We won't be signing any top of the line guys but we could sign some more Nova types. Hopefully we sign enough that several pan out. I guess there's always the chance Gio, Kopech, Cease, Lopez will be out of this world success stories. time will tell.

Hahn expects aggressive offseason
The way I see it is he's going to have to pay for a lot of pitching in free agency if this team is ever going to take the next step. That's barring some sort of miracle that all our prospect pitchers, healthy and injured both, pan out to be superlative. If they stay healthy, we've got a pretty good everyday lineup starting next year with Robert and Madrigal on the big club and maybe Burger and Vaughn, too. Maybe Rutherford. It's actually time to see if the rebuild is going to work ... if Hahn signs pitching. We know they are not going to get the big guns who will command top dollar, so he needs to sign guys who are affordable in Jerry's world. I could see it going either way, frankly. We could start next season on paper a horrible team or start the season on paper our first contending team in the rebuild.

7/31 Mets @ Sox 7:10 pm NBCSN-CHI de Grom vs. Giolito
Of course you should do it. This team is toast. All it took was the all star break to get it playing horrific baseball. OK, plus a couple injuries.

Sox Trade Nate Jones/INTL Slot to TEX for 2 Minor Leaguers
Thank goodness he is gone. Another one out of here. Hopefully we'll keep dumping bad players.
-
Hahn expects aggressive offseason
He could have worded it a different way. ... Arguably we are one of the worst franchises in professional baseball if not all pro sports. We're probably 20 percent from the bottom. Not sure what the one WS title does to it. We're definitely in the bottom half

Job Thread
Many people on here think I'm out of touch and clueless Sox fan which is fine. I just read this and did not know this existed so I thought I'd ask the current generation a question about work. Do you know anybody who has "ghosted?" Is this a true phenomenon? https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/people-ghosting-work-its-driving-companies-crazy-chip-cutter?trk=d_public_post_promoted_post

Moncada to IL, out at least 2 weeks per Merkin
You know, I'll never call for Hahn's job cause of the Eloy trade, but I can see why 'some' might want us to start winning as soon as 2020. Nobody ever said life was fair.
