The Sox have done something I didn't think possible. Make me not care. I would think if I don't care (rabid fan) then hundreds of thousands of people don't care. I realize unabashed winning suddenly will make people care (Sox hope so) in this day and age of one-minute attention spans and front-running. Yet ... Fathom would tell you that losing 4 straight to the KC Royals in past years would have sent me over the deep end, screaming, probably getting banned on here. Now? Only think I'm trying to do now is find out what Ned Yost said about NASA during this series. It's getting a lot of play. How can you care when a guy named Detweiler is starting and Covey the first reliever? And a lineup that includes Cordell, Jay, Goins, Reed and Castillo. WOW!
  2. Good. 2023 seems a long ways away to Greg. I wanna win.
  3. Good. I now want him gone. Sick of defending him on here and he deserves better.
  4. You shouldn't insult posters by saying peanut brain, especially when I am like el rockin and never criticize posters intellect, etc. I guess you got me with those stats. Although .265 and .273 the last two years I'd argue is pretty close to the .293, .290. Just a handful of hits here and there. I happen to think he's a productive player especially considering the crap team he's on. Some of you don't think athletes have emotions. I'd think it'd be difficult to produce when you generally have no protection in the lineup (I love Eloy) and have such a losing mentality. I think he's productive no matter what, but especially for a team in its tank years. But at the risk of greg-haters saying I don't read posts I will acknowledge your point and say you have a point here as expressed by the traditional stats you listed.
  5. At the risk of getting yelled at for not looking it up, how has Duke been since we traded him to St. Looie? I was no big Zack Duke guy.
  6. When healthy, the Sox have 5-7 pretty good players/pitchers. Is it this difficult? You take the 5-7 good players and sign free agents and build a competitive team. This waiting around is pretty annoying. We already got some good players and now some on here are talking 2023 before we are good? Or 2022? If this is so ... don't you agree it won't be healthy having our studs lose so many games? Moncada will feel like some sort of jinx/failure if the team blows in 2020, 2021 and 2022. How does this pertain to this thread? Well in the first half we had 5-7 players play so well we won a lotta games.
  7. He got his chance and failed. He's done. Next. The Zack Duke for Charlie Tilson trade will go down as blah.
  8. I would buy a beer to anybody who would examine all the teams in the AL and use all your advanced stats and give me a list of all the players on each team you deem productive and/or worth keeping even 2 more seasons. Steep decline, huh? A lot of traditional stat people would disagree and said he had a fine first half. Are these first 7 games of the second half proof of his sudden steep decline?
  9. Probably the first time I've ever agreed with one of Kyyle23's posts. Jose made the all star team again but that matters not to most advanced stat lovers.
  10. I don't understand why you would want him to shut up. He's a competitor and actually wants to win, not this tank b.s. Plus if he has to hear the trade rumors all the time, he might as well go out in a blaze of glory. Look ... he plays for one of the worst organizations in all of sports. A major market team claiming poor. I applaud him. keep talkin Jose. If the media hasn't been so decimated by layoffs, etc., we would have been having some controversial stories about the White Sox long ago. Just my take.
  11. Do smart baseball people really think McCann is going to bring the Sox a haul? Let's hear specifics. Do any teams need immediate help at catcher? To me it seems the haul received for McCann will not be that heavy. I think the only tradeable guys to receive a prospect or two that could someday be useful are McCann and Colome.
  12. I know what you mean but at least tell me you are furious at them for paying Alonso what they did and that hack pitcher from the Pirates Nova and Jon Jay. It seems to me our fans just love saving Jerry money so he can continue to live the rich life. Because of their ill regard for money I want Jose to get as much cash as he can from our ill guided front office and owner.
  13. It would kind be kind of neat for the Sox to try a proven veteran manager like Girardi. I'd love an outspoken baseball man who wants to win take over and blast the players in the press and demand victories and accountability. Oh if we could have Francona or Girardi or LaRussa or somebody who would kick some butt.
  14. I wonder who is gonna be the hero in 2023. After all that losing ... Moncada, Eloy, Timmy, Abreu, Robert all these guy by then are going to be so used to losing you wonder what is suddenly going to spark 90, 95, 110 wins. It's going to be bizarre. 2023 like I said ... by then wow Moncada will have lost a lot of ballgames in a Sox uniform to suddenly become a dominant team.
  15. The positive sign is the most vocal fans on the board this year want to win and are mad when we lose. That calms my blood pressure. Those that want us to lose lose lose the second half to get a better draft pick are pretty much keeping it to themselves rather than actively rooting for losses on the board.
  16. His trade for Eloy makes him untouchable. Great great trade. However as a caveat it's not a good sign the way Eloy got hurt twice this season. It's really going to be something if he tries to leg out a triple in cold weather some year or go after a shallow fly ball in left when 3B and SS are also converging. I wish him the best but it's scary.
  17. Pressure? This team hasn't had a pressure filled game in years. How much pressure can there be when losing is applauded.
  18. For some reason I get so mad when somebody wants to free up cash. Why in the hell did Hahn throw away so much money on Alonso and Nova and even Jon Jay. Jerry's wealth irritates me.
  19. There is no way Bummer is being traded; he's too much a White Sox. Cheap, under control, young. There's no way in hell he gets traded. He also doesn't have the initial pedigree. He was not an early round draft pick.
  20. If Reinsdorf wasn't making so much money ... please sir, for the sake of Chicago sell the damn team to somebody who will do it the right way: PAY, PAY, PAY for talent.
  21. He's not trying to suck and make outs no matter what you say. He is who he is.
  22. Call me a dope, but any team that needs 6 or 7 years to rebuild off a tank job is an embarrassment to the sports world. An all-time embarrassment. Seven years is a long fricking time. One team can win it all. I'd rather do it MY WAY! The 2005 way.
  23. Fathom and Lip Man speak da truth. Sox really do need to clean house upstairs and on the field. They actually need a new owner, too.
  24. Very true. The guy is 22. Sorry, he is not going to be a DH. That's just silly. Can he stay healthy as a leftfielder? He should be able to if he gets his act together after gaining experience. Both injuries were preventable. A lot of our prospects are getting hurt. This is not a positive sign. With no Eloy and Timmy we ain't going to be winning (m)any road games the rest of the way. In hindsight none of us knew Eloy would have been better off spending another full year in the minors concentrating solely on defense with a personal coach. He does need work in LF. He's an MLB hitter, but not fielder. Wow. This better not be a serious injury but like somebody said the way things go with White Sox injuries, this could be a season-ender. I don't like the quote from Tilson about the arm angle.
  25. Those who love the tank can deal with the fact that when we do tank we are one of the embarrassments in all of baseball. Sad to see a proud franchise have such a weak roster. We need better health with our upcoming prospects or this could be a Royals/Orioles like drought on our hands. I don't think we should fire Ricky just cause he did a marvelous job with this roster the first half. I mean if u were manager would you be confident we could win 55 games with this pitching staff?
