8/28 White Sox vs Twins GT
I know Detwiler has had some decent outings (I think) but if I had tickets and saw he was pitching, I'd sell them or give 'em away. I can't believe he's clocked at 93 that one pitch. My final comment on him: I truly think he's lobbing in batting practice pitches here. Gosh there are some bad players in MLB. Scary really. Hope some of these guys got their college degrees.

All I wanna say is "congrats Jose" for this accomplishment. I'm sorry but Detwiler really truly looks like a soft throwing meatball thrower tonight.

Leury has won me over. He's OK by me even to play on the rebuilt, contending team. Detwiler looks like he's throwing soft meat up there to me.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
I said "in a baseball sense." I want to convey the opposite spectrum of those who criticize him on here somewhat forcibly. If some deem it necessary to bag on Jose aggressively ... I feel I have the right to praise him in an overzealous/aggressive way as well. It's the best word I could think of to say I feel he's great as he is. No real faults that would prevent him from earning a solid grade of A. If it offends or seems excessively foolish I guess I'll try to stop using that word.

No he's not. I'm just a traditional fan who 'worships' him in a baseball sense. I don't care about things like autographs. If I saw him and he looked approachable I'd probably try to shake his hand and say, 'Sox fan here. Nice season; nice career, sir."

I can accept B-minus I guess, though I think he deserves some sort of A grade. ... I still think we don't consider enough the fact he has had no protection in the lineup much of the year and puts a lot of runs on the scoreboard via hits that score runners.

That's all he's gonna get, breach. His third year will not be guaranteed. Bank it. Oops I missed your sarcasm on Jose. Sorry. I can accept jokes.

U really think Jose is worthy of a DFA? Cmon Breach? I keep thinking Jose has done something nefarious to garner a lot of negativity from some fans.

Illinois High School Football Thread
I'm too cheap to purchase the Websites so tell me, how will Brother Rice fare this season? Is the party over and back to 2-7? Or will the team be excellent again? Which game should I return to Chicago to go see? GO BR!

Yet he was an All-Star. I'm assuming his WAR (yawn) was just as bad compared to others at the all star break when he got picked. I forget. We Sox fans don't applaud our guys for all star selections unless they are aged 25 or so or having a wild reclamation year like McCann. p.s. Oops I'm in a praise Jose mood today which means I better log off. I am in a mood where i could be baited to express great love of Jose!

You can't have it both ways. If people want the new analytical stats, then get ALL baseball broadcasts to stop showing BA and RBI and ERA and Wins and Losses. Otherwise, Jose's stats are quite great this season. 100 RBIs at the end of August. Nice. Decent batting average for a slugger too. And lotsa home runs. As far as his defense, frankly, who cares? He's good at digging for the most part. I'd say he digs well on 8 of 10. He throws well on the 3-6-3 DP. He's bad on pop ups and lousy on shots to his left. He's OK to his right. My Jose grade for 2019 season: A. How's that for a traditional stat? A grade. I wonder what everybody else gives Jose. I bet some of the 'haters' go as low as C-.

Moncada
He turns 25 next late May so yes he's just a kid. Years 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 are the years he's expected to earn his keep. His keep is helping us reach the WS in 3 of those 5 years and winning it twice or 3 times. After that he figures to be on the decline list as far as traditional baseball goes. Unless advanced metrics changes by then and like Greg, starts to value older players. GO SOX! Tip of the cap to those of us on the board who never blasted Moncada during some of his struggles (mostly caused by the homeplate umps) last year. Some people bagged on Moncada if they'd go back and look.

Passan: Moncada, Giolito are among players to watch for extensions this winter
Seems a no brainer. Sox scouts decide both are stars or stars in the making. You sign them for as long as you can now otherwise you could lose them. Obviously there's a risk. I feel dumb typing that because there's a risk to signing free agents who have been around a while. If your scouts think they are stars ... you sign them now for as many years as you can.

Getting robbed/what has come of society, etc?
That is very scary. They probably were armed if you were in the house sleeping. That's a helluva lot of stuff they stole. Yeah, in my case the police didn't even ask if I wanted to see the picture of the guy. I mean hell I could see the guy come back to the same place some time. No call; no nothing; no followup.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
I think baseball is in big trouble if the only stats that matter are ones that take great explaining as to how they are compiled. The viewer isn't supposed to concern himself/herself any more with pitcher wins/losses, batters BA, RBI. Homers are blah because of the lively ball unless you whack more than 50. Not much to go by anymore, even if virtually every broadcast uses the old stats.

Notice you rarely get an answer to your posts. I often hear on here that I am overreacting and nobody hates Abreu on here besides Ron. Yet I kind of beg to differ. I definitely sense an "I wish he'd go away" mentality in posts about Jose. And the stat people don't usually answer your points at all. They just mock me praising Jose's RBIs. Then last night I turn on the Royals game on TV for the first time in a while and the first discussion I hear is them gushing about Simien's 7 RBIs.

Former Sox updates (Avi, etc)
Semien has 7 RBIs tonight. Oh wait, RBIs ...

Do you ever feel like your dislike of Jose is a bit excessive? I mean guys like me think the world of Jose and his contributions to the White Sox on and off the field.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
It's just wrong to deny RBIs mean SOMETHING. Only one player in the AL has more runs knocked in than Jose. Why not praise the man? Sox fans are weird sometimes. You have a precious guy like Abreu and it's always some people looking for his warts. 100 RBIs. Good job, Jose. Somebody should start a congratulations thread for Jose. I won't do it cause it will look like I'm trying to stir things up.

Good post by vile. For some reason if I wrote this I think I'd be accused of trolling. The post has a cool rhythm to it.
