Congrats, Jose on another fine season. It's a pleasure to watch you play on mlb.com. Hope the Sox give you a fair offer and you accept it. That can wait. For now ... nice age 32 season, sir!
  2. Not to be the board's hall monitor in pointing out stuff but cmon, Gatorade Man? Either you are kidding or you don't think there should be fun in baseball. Yolmer is who he is. One of the worst players on one of the 10 worst teams in the league. He's OK. And I like the Gatorade dumping on himself.
  3. Jose is finishing so strong a lot of you may get your wish and he'll be gone. 31 homers. 112 RBI, this guy may be earning a multi year deal from somebody and it obviously won't be with the Sox. Congrats Jose. You have helped make the price of admission worth it in this awful season. ANOTHER DINGER FOR JOSE! Nice blast, baby!
  4. Abreu is up to 30 homers and 111 RBIs. Are you bleeping me? Do you folks realize how impressive this is for a team as bad as the White Sox? I'd like to ask somebody if a Jose appreciation thread is appropriate? I think it is. Being that most realize Jose is one of my favorite Sox of all time I probably should not go there and start one lest I get accused of inciting his detractors and put on vacation. So I'd just like to say, 111 RBIs. Albert Belle once had 152 for the Sox which is insane. 30 HRS; Belle once had 49. Jose has earned his paycheck this season, folks. I hope Jose got a loud long ovation Saturday night for homer No. 30. I'm thinking the fans who go to games appreciate him. It has to be fun to watch him bat when you pay good money for a game.
  5. Really? I'll want to see it to believe it. I hope we're trying to win in 2020, but we'll see. It still might be 2021 with this organization. Jack I love your posts but I agree with Vile about winning. I want to win every day mainly because I love the Sox and I don't care about the draft frankly. Pitching a guy like Covey was a slap in the fact to paying customers last night and a clear sign the Sox wanted to lose that game. Sad. Fans should get a refund.
  6. You gave up free tuition? Where'd you wind up?
  7. That's wild. Is that legal? Like against IHSAA rules or ? You got free tuition to Rita? That is wild. By the way, how did u like attending Rita? I enjoyed Brother Rice for two years. I guess it didn't seem to matter we had no girls in classes. The McAuley girls came to our dances and it was fairly easy to meet them. When I went to Rice, Rita had a great running back. I forget his name. I think Rita usually beat Bro Rice in football back in the day.
  8. You know, if you are being honest, you can't believe Bummer is that great a prospect. He's another inconsistent Sox reliever. Pardon me for not believing he's a stud, so to speak. The way I see it only Colome is a sure thing. Hahn needs to do some work on this inconsistent pitching staff. They have the $$s available to get some guys if any are on the FA list.
  9. No offense but we deserve to have nobody decent in RF after the treatment Avi got from fans on message boards. We had a decent RF bat making pennies.
  10. I loved Palka last year. I feel sorry for him. He's not this bad. He needs to be DFA'ed though.
  11. I wonder how many guys throw batting practice for the Sox. I'd imagine those guys' arms eventually fall off like MLB pitchers. How the hell do they find enough BP pitchers? They have to whip it in there at least 75-80 mph I'd think.
  12. The guy pitched a one-hitter. This thread should be congratulating him for what actually could be one of the best outings of his career AT THE END of his career. One-hitter, 11 strikeouts don't grown on trees. The other stuff should wait. Kudos and only kudos to Lopez today.
  13. I can't imagine the Sox have THAT MANY full season platinum box seats ticket holders. A smart businessperson would lock you into the same price as last year for 2020 as a reward for sticking with the team during an insufferable rebuild. I mean we "should" be a playoff contender next season. You really should be locked into the same price as this season IMO as a reward. 6.6 percent is pretty hefty. The team's payroll has been miniscule. Sox should be ashamed. Great post!
  14. A one-hitter. These starters are so inconsistent and that must change. But for today I won't think that way. I will applaud Lopez. 11 strikeouts. Can you imagine if we got the good Lopez to go with the good Cease and good Gio plus the good Kopech? That would be 4 lights out starters. And the good Nova as a No. 5? As we know he's reeked and had stellar outings too. Cooper should be ashamed of himself. He has so much raw talent to work with. Let's get it done. Can you imagine how cheaply the White Sox could win a WS if those four starters were great and Jerry only needed "maybe" one free agent starter. And only needed "maybe" one free agent right fielder. He could make this a game and try to win a WS with the cheapest payroll ever. These are just observations. I do not want Jerry to get any richer than he is.
  15. It's incredible. It's funny how "cliche fans" have changed. It used to be fans "fell in love with" or "had high respect for" the veterans who actually produced. Now the message board fan at least grows very tired of the guys who have been around a while, guys like Jose. I prefer it the other way. At least some of you have Abreu jerseys. So how many of you own Jose Abreu Sox jerseys? Hopefully 10 or more.
  16. Two hits; two more RBI, another HR. This man is having a sensational age 32 season. He turns 33 at end of January.
  17. That's disgusting and proves without a shadow of a doubt Avi woulda been great in RF this year. He's making something like 2.5 mill or 3 mill a year for gosh sakes.
  18. Oops we Abreu backers have to cower. He's hitless again tonight. I think it's two games in a row after his hot sizz. Of course nobody praised him for all those multi hit games in August.

Tell him he's our left fielder. Case closed. Tell him it's up to him to get better this offseason. Outline where he needs to go; what he needs to do. Give him October and November off then ship him to Arizona for January, then give him a few weeks off before start of spring training. He's such a good hitter; it's up to him to field a bit.
  20. That was perceptive. He also reminds me of De Aza.
  21. Palka is hitting .019. For gosh sakes, release the poor fella. Send him to another organization. .019 is about as low as I've ever seen an official batting average.
  22. If anybody was serious about Gordon, it shows the insanity of message boards. Think how old he is in a world we now think of 32 as old. Think how little production he gives. Same message board with a lotta people hating on Jose Abreu and somebody wants elder Alex Gordon who provides nothing with the bat?
  23. Nice post. I'd go with 2 RP. I trust Colome. Bummer is pretty good. Herrera is not that good. What manager gets to work with this team? If you get rid of Ricky, it's Omar. Wouldn't you rather let Ricky start the season if the alternative is Omar?
  24. I wanna hear why Cease was so good. So encouraging. Really encouraging. I know, it's probably just him getting used to this level. A big night for Rick Hahn. He looks like a genius with Eloy, Moncada, Cease, Collins, etc.
