Sox Win and Cubs Eliminated
I'm saying if the Cubs have to resort to a tank/rebuild to finally win one WS, that is sad. All that $$$$$. They should have been able to win some titles along the way doing it the old fashioned way. So Tony I presume you think you know baseball. And I guess tank/rebuild is the only way to do it? Even for the cash rich Cubs? Sad for them.

Sox Win and Cubs Eliminated
Cubs can't win pennants the old fashioned way with all that cash? They got to tank/rebuild? If Sox had that kind of money I'd expect utter domination like the Braves winning all those division titles back in the day. Whatever ... if I'm wrong I'm wrong. I don't think having a bad opinion once in a while, IF this was a bad one, is an impeachable offense.

Sox Win and Cubs Eliminated
I still say the Cubs rebuild/tank was a failure. I mean with all the money they have to work with, a good GM could win simply by buying free agents and going with the guys in their minor league system when they are MLB ready. Cubs are really in trouble. No playoffs this season is unacceptable. Who would have thought Milwaukee would get this good?

Will anyone fall on the sword for another awful year?
No one will fall on sword. Team is winking its way to the bank. Making zillions of dollars. Crowds are still decent. The money is flowing. Jerry already got his one WS title which was magical. Sure he'd love for another, but my feeling is with all the Bulls titles and his one baseball title ... accumulation of $$$ is most important to him right now as he takes care of many generations of family before he moves on.

State of Chicago baseball: the tipping point
The test was 05. We won it all and if ever the Sox were going to pull even in popularity or take over it was then. I would think we had the most momentum we'd ever have, but the team did not maintain. It celebrated one full offseason and the entire next season and from then on, it's been all downhill. My guess is if somehow this tank/rebuild turns into utter dominance of baseball, yes we'd pull even or pass the Cubs. But frankly despite the acquisition of Hall of Fame type talent in Moncada and Eloy and perhaps one of our best hitting shortstops ever in Tim, we are far away from .500 even. Our pitching staff remains suspect at best. If Cease, Gio, Kopech, Lopez dominate, it's a different story. As of now we have very inconsistent starters and an awful bullpen. In conclusion, we blew a chance in 05 to take the city by storm (Blackhawks times 10) and now we are totally inconsequential, maybe 3/5s through a rebuild in terms of roster.

State of the Sox 2019
I like your post. This team is nowhere near contending unfortunately. We'll see how much Robert and Madrigal kickstart the lineup and if Hahn can rebuild a pitching staff. Our staff is so bad this team currently has no chance of sniffing .500 next year at this time. Arguably we could have a worse record next year. You advanced statters ... combining all the war and everything, did this team overachieve a lot this season to get the record it has?

Job Thread
you may have told us before, Jack, but how do you survive? How much money do you get via government? I just wondered how it works and have always wondered if it's possible to live without income. Take care sir. I don't like this scenario you painted. Sounds like your cousin is not coming through for yu after all. 15 months is a long time minus $. Good luck to u Jack.

GT - (9/24) White Sox vs Indians, 7:10 pm, WGN
Embarrassing loss. Ripoff for the fans. Sickening Fulmer and Santiago performances. Lot of lousy players in the lineup and on mound for Sox tonight. Roster upgrades needed. Current roster not near a .500 team next year. With Robert and Madrigal? Getting closer. This pitching staff is very very horrid.

2020 RF options
Zobrist turns 39 next May and gets about 10 mill a year. I'd think our posters concerned about Jose would have a major problem over this one.

Cooper discouraged by social media negativity
I probably missed it but has KW or Hahn or Ricky praised the fans at all this season? Crowds at home have been great from all I can tell watching on MLB. I think Coop is fine but he really should shut up. You never win by blasting fans and I'd venture to guess a lot of the fans who attend games have done so for a long time. There's got to be at least 100 or so die hards who have been supporting the team forever and the Sox need somebody to thank them not make them read Coop's negativity from social media of all things. Bleep social media. Who cares what anonymous folks write on there?

2020 RF options
Our No. 1 picks aren't always great ones and that's a tenet of the tank. To get guys at No. 10 and from what people are saying on here, Collins isn't exactly a prime prospect. Although I'd make him starter next year and see what we got. He's ready. And aside from all the hype earned by McCann from his great start ... if Jose had this type of second half we'd be screaming loudly to get rid of him. The built in excuse for McCann is he's tired cause it's difficult to catch. Just play Collins and forgetaboutit for a while.

2020 RF options
Gee, this is what I was saying when I got in all that trouble for being a troublemaking "troll." When I argue against caring about the draft. I was told by so many that we're supposed to lose games for the beloved draft. My position that draft picks bust and the draft is a crapshoot was not a popular stance. it was "lose, lose, lose" and by gosh greg why can't you see why we want to lose games!"

Cooper discouraged by social media negativity
He doesn't fit the profile of somebody who scours Twitter for comments on the Sox. Somebody needs to remind him there's not a whole lot of interest in the White Sox and there's not a lot of anti Sox talk on Twitter. In this day and age of ultra sensitive PC, Coop's comments come close to having to apologize. He says a lot of negative stuff about fans who criticize. Again ... he's not the manager. He needs to relax. He seemed especially sensitive regarding Reynaldo Lopez who has been so inconsistent. I don't think any Sox fans are clamoring to get rid of Rey. Now Covey and some of the hacks, of course we hate seeing them pitch. The Sox should apologize to all fans for pitching Covey so much this season. he's disgracefully overmatched. Coop ... have an extra beer and get your pitchers more consistent. Sox fans aren't clamoring for your firing or anything. We want a good rotation and have been patient watching guys like Nova and Rey. Even Cease has been just mediocre while showing flashes of greatness. Nobody's saying anything negative about Cease. Sox fans actually deserve praise. Hahn or Renteria should praise the fans but that would prolly be throwing Coop under the bus.

2020 RF options
I'm a little surprised at the lack of excitement about Collins. He's the 10th pick of Round One for gosh sakes. Our scouts thought he was worthy of that and I'd assume a huge bonus. Play the guy ... and play him a lot next year. If he's a huge bust, somebody in scouting should be fired.

Read some of the other posts. Not everybody agrees with the tanking philosophy and not everybody likes advanced stats and the reliance on HRs nowadays. Learn some patience, dissenters. Not everybody has to agree with you. Some of us have different viewpoints, such as El Rockin.

Sox could use a 6-4-3 vs the lousy Tigers here.

2020 RF options
With the money the Cubs have it should never have taken a tank job to win their one WS title in a zillion years. They should be contending like the Yankees and Bo$ox -- every year.

2020 RF options
So you say tanking works all the time? I think it's needlessly painful for fans and an excuse for organizations to make a lot of cash. I hate tanking ... sorry. I think it's un-sportsmanlike. You are supposed to try to win.
-
Cooper discouraged by social media negativity
Coop is harmless. However think of the paying customer on a night you have to watch Covey or Nova or Detweier or some of those hack relievers? If you've had a few beers you might want to b**** on Twitter. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy to spend lots of time searching Twitter.
-
2020 RF options
Cmon. You have no great argument to back that up. Baseball needs to come up with some new rules to prevent tanking.

Cooper discouraged by social media negativity
He's so sensitive that his spouting off is funny more than tiresome or insulting. I mean cmon, Don. Show us the tweets. There isn't some massive tweet movement of angry sox fans blasting our pitching. There's not some internet movement to write angry stuff that would bother Coop. I did meet a huge Sox fan yesterday at a party BTW and I immediately asked him about Abreu. He LOVES Abreu and agreed the advanced statters who dislike him are nuts.

Yolmer contemplates not being on the Sox
Don't cuss, sir. That's unfair to them. They have tried their best as members of the Sox. They've been OK.

White Sox final win total
Somebody's gotta have a plan regarding the pitching staff. We're not winning squat if our starters are as inconsistent as they were this season. Also our bullpen blows. It really does. It's Colome who is excellent and Bummer who I consider average.

TA and Yoan have combined for 8.5 fWAR: is this the best young double play combo in Sox history?
I have nothing against Madrigal. I'm just a bit surprised Sox fans who follow advanced stats want him. He's not gonna hit more than 5 homers. His stolen bases don't matter in modern baseball. Why do we like this guy in the era of HR or K?
