GT - (9/6) White Sox vs Angels, 7:10 pm, NBCSC+
No offense but we deserve to have nobody decent in RF after the treatment Avi got from fans on message boards. We had a decent RF bat making pennies.

I loved Palka last year. I feel sorry for him. He's not this bad. He needs to be DFA'ed though.

Ricky missing next series for rotator cuff surgery
I wonder how many guys throw batting practice for the Sox. I'd imagine those guys' arms eventually fall off like MLB pitchers. How the hell do they find enough BP pitchers? They have to whip it in there at least 75-80 mph I'd think.

9/5 Sox@Indians gamethread
The guy pitched a one-hitter. This thread should be congratulating him for what actually could be one of the best outings of his career AT THE END of his career. One-hitter, 11 strikeouts don't grown on trees. The other stuff should wait. Kudos and only kudos to Lopez today.

2020 White Sox Season Ticket Changes
I can't imagine the Sox have THAT MANY full season platinum box seats ticket holders. A smart businessperson would lock you into the same price as last year for 2020 as a reward for sticking with the team during an insufferable rebuild. I mean we "should" be a playoff contender next season. You really should be locked into the same price as this season IMO as a reward. 6.6 percent is pretty hefty. The team's payroll has been miniscule. Sox should be ashamed. Great post!

A one-hitter. These starters are so inconsistent and that must change. But for today I won't think that way. I will applaud Lopez. 11 strikeouts. Can you imagine if we got the good Lopez to go with the good Cease and good Gio plus the good Kopech? That would be 4 lights out starters. And the good Nova as a No. 5? As we know he's reeked and had stellar outings too. Cooper should be ashamed of himself. He has so much raw talent to work with. Let's get it done. Can you imagine how cheaply the White Sox could win a WS if those four starters were great and Jerry only needed "maybe" one free agent starter. And only needed "maybe" one free agent right fielder. He could make this a game and try to win a WS with the cheapest payroll ever. These are just observations. I do not want Jerry to get any richer than he is.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
It's incredible. It's funny how "cliche fans" have changed. It used to be fans "fell in love with" or "had high respect for" the veterans who actually produced. Now the message board fan at least grows very tired of the guys who have been around a while, guys like Jose. I prefer it the other way. At least some of you have Abreu jerseys. So how many of you own Jose Abreu Sox jerseys? Hopefully 10 or more.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Two hits; two more RBI, another HR. This man is having a sensational age 32 season. He turns 33 at end of January.

That's disgusting and proves without a shadow of a doubt Avi woulda been great in RF this year. He's making something like 2.5 mill or 3 mill a year for gosh sakes.

Oops we Abreu backers have to cower. He's hitless again tonight. I think it's two games in a row after his hot sizz. Of course nobody praised him for all those multi hit games in August.

Moncada
Tell him he's our left fielder. Case closed. Tell him it's up to him to get better this offseason. Outline where he needs to go; what he needs to do. Give him October and November off then ship him to Arizona for January, then give him a few weeks off before start of spring training. He's such a good hitter; it's up to him to field a bit.

That was perceptive. He also reminds me of De Aza.

Palka is hitting .019. For gosh sakes, release the poor fella. Send him to another organization. .019 is about as low as I've ever seen an official batting average.

2020 RF options
If anybody was serious about Gordon, it shows the insanity of message boards. Think how old he is in a world we now think of 32 as old. Think how little production he gives. Same message board with a lotta people hating on Jose Abreu and somebody wants elder Alex Gordon who provides nothing with the bat?

And That's a Future of the White Sox Winner !
Nice post. I'd go with 2 RP. I trust Colome. Bummer is pretty good. Herrera is not that good. What manager gets to work with this team? If you get rid of Ricky, it's Omar. Wouldn't you rather let Ricky start the season if the alternative is Omar?

And That's a Future of the White Sox Winner !
I wanna hear why Cease was so good. So encouraging. Really encouraging. I know, it's probably just him getting used to this level. A big night for Rick Hahn. He looks like a genius with Eloy, Moncada, Cease, Collins, etc.

No. I'm just saying you don't need a star who rates well offensively at every position. It's like we're trying to make sure every guy in the everyday lineup is exceptional WAR. In 05 we didn't exactly fill the lineup card with all stars. I won't look up their WAR but how good was the WAR of Uribe, Pods, AJ, Dye, Rowand, Crede, Everett, Iguchi, etc. That's why I DEMAND we keep Jose Abreu around. You need some glue guys, folks, not an all star version of WAR at every position. 05 had Mark B and Paulie and AJ and Dye for gosh sakes. Winners. Next time the White Sox make the WS it just might be because of defense and pitching again not high WAR at every infield outfield and catching and DH position. Yes, for all we know it might be 20 years til it gels again.

2020 RF options
Then it's really changed since 05. Sometimes teams click with good players plus ordinary players and excellent pitching. We don't have near the pitching it's going to take but we have the every day players.

Then how did we win it in 05?

2020 RF options
If we don't want Avi, why not give Leury a shot at playing on a team with a chance to win something? He's not a bad player. We don't need 8 phenoms playing every day in the lineup.

2020 RF options
Interesting take, Jose. I never thought of that. Ozzie made a lot of errors too as I recall and he was dandy overall. Leave Timmy alone. I'd write an essay for you guys on where I would suggest moving Timmy, but I think that's what finally got me suspended last time. Nobody let me defend my position on him in a court of message board law; they thought I was trolling. Leave Timmy at short. He's a star who loses interest IMO during meaningless routs. Let's see a chart of when his errors were committed in games and the score at the time.

For some reason I read that as Adam Engel and wondered why u would want him. Then I read closer.

What's wrong with Leury? Spend the money on all pitching. Or Leury/Avi. Neither make any money and are not too bad.

9/2/19 White Sox @Cleveland MLB Free Game of the Day
It's this current group of players PLUS Collins, Robert, Madrigal and Vaughn. Plus Basabe, Rutherford. Also Kopech and Dunning and Stiever. There's your core group. Can that group plus our current players dominate with a few free agents to help? That is the question.
