A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Exactly. There aren't many players who can or could survive 3 or 4 seasons with the same team on message boards. There's always somebody who allegedly is better. Take a good hard look at almost all players with the exception of a handful of the all stars and you'll see failure after failure in the eyes of fans. Very few can survive the advanced stat avalanche over the course of 4-5 seasons.

Did anybody go see Rocketman? Is it good or do you have to appreciate Elton John to enjoy it??

Tim Anderson high ankle sprain
If it's six weeks I think it's reasonable to suggest he's done for the season if we are way way behind in the standings. That's one thing about tanking. If we ultimately really start dropping games in bunches,, why would you play Timmy on a weak ankle? He doesn't need the at bats for his development. He is who he is. A free swinger who is not going to draw walks but flail away and have a good game more often than not.

And That's a White Sox Winner !
I didn't see it. But if it was that obvious I bet they change it.

White Sox vs Twins 7:10 PM CT Detwiler vs Berrios
Yeah I never liked him but tonight I'm giving him props. He does a nice job for the most part and that's all I can ask on such a lousy team. I tip my cap to Leury. Seems to me he has a lot of multi hit games. He's like a modern day Lance Johnson (in a good Lance year).

And a nice dig on the DP. People seem awfully mad after a fantastic win.

White Sox vs Twins 7:10 PM CT Detwiler vs Berrios
Damn just examined the box score and watched highlights. This whole page of this thread is negative. Geez. We beat Minnesota. My guy Abreu with the nice dig on the double play BTW. I guess those plays are expected. Beautiful bomb by Eloy. As much as our leadoff hitter is meh to me, I won't argue if somebody wants to call him a nice player. He gets a lot of hits. Always nice to beat Minnie. I assume that guy we started is just another guy. At any rate, we win. I happy.

Who isn't getting hurt? I'd like to see a list of all major leaguers and the percentage who have missed a least a month on average every season.

White Sox to Call Up Palka
Is everybody pulling for Palka or do some of us just plain despise him no matter what? Cmon Daniel, have a good second half.

Jimmy Lambert TJS
One thing I always thought odd. In Little League, high school and college, they pitch kids til the game is over. 140, 150, 160 pitches in college. Coaches don't care. Then in the pros fans and everybody start getting worried at 92 pitches; time to get somebody up to get the pitcher outta there soon. Weird how they are brought up throwing zillions of pitches then in the bigs and minors they get babied.

Yonder DFA'd
Weird things pop into my head sometimes. I was just thinking after reading this ... can you imagine if Robert is a true star as predicted? In a year we would have true stars in Moncada, Anderson, Eloy, and Robert in the everyday lineup together. Add Tatis if we still had him and arguably no team would have had as many true stars in an everyday lineup at one time as the Sox. That's five of baseball's most exciting talents. And one could still envision us having a losing team in that scenario. Weird.

I think the Sox can get Quintana back
I'd trade Colome and some lousy prospect for Quintana now. Would the Cubs do it or leave them a starter short? This would please the flip-happy fans. We can easily afford his contract and there's one less starter we have to acquire for the future. If Lopez can figure it out we may be getting somewhere with our future rotation. We can worry about the bullpen this offseason as modern fans tell us is the proper thing to do.

White Sox to Call Up Palka
If we're going to sign McCann to a three-year extension, Collins' future logically doesn't seem so bright in a Sox uniform. He's not projecting to be a good nuff hitter to play 1B or DH is he? Thought not. Why not do the fabled flipping of McCann. Would please the fans as they always like to flip guys and if Collins is ready it's time for the Collins era. Collins is 24; he has to play.

Burger has a bruised heel now the last I read. You think he'll be playing soon? I'd think he's another serious injury away from about being finished. He has a lot to prove.
-
Fernando Tatis Jr. thread
Baseball certainly has an injury problem. I know some are fluke, but I got to thinking with all the crap Avi took ... Timmy is about to miss six weeks or so minimum, all our pitcher injuries. Avi's injuries were just par for the course in Sox baseball. Who isn't getting hurt? And reputations are built so quickly. Let's say Timmy is out til the third week of August and we're so far out of the race he plays sparingly if at all the rest of the season. Then lets say heaven forbid he gets hurt next May or June. Will suddenly he have the injury tag that Avi had with Sox fans?

White Sox to Call Up Palka
Well, this is it for Palka. His last chance. I don't know why the anti Palka people care? This is what most of the rebuild people want, to take a look at guys and in the process we find out if the guy can hit. If he can, add him to the core. If he can't, we lose and get a better draft pick. Who cares about defense? The Sox sure don't so why should you?

Thing is what if we never have a great young roster because of our first rounders not being that good? I'm just saying that at this time we may still be a ton of players short of being a contender. Sox are weak in so many areas. Are Cease and Gio enough for a good starting rotation? Are Eloy, Moncada, Tim, Robert, Madrigal and Burger enough? At least my way we had our chances to win divisions, we just didn't ultimately ever get it done after 05 because of the same front office refusal to add to the core to make sure it won a few more division titles at the minimum. You guys are trusting our Front Office a lot. I'm not sure we'll ever have a "great young roster."

I have some bad trade ideas
My biggest "only" problem with the board (I respect the owner and mods for their efforts and time) is a.) modern fans who hate on their own. Hate may be too strong a word but I feel like if a player has a 3-4 year history of goodness to excellence with your team, you should always want to keep the guy and give the guy a break when struggling (Abreu, Konerko, Jenks, Dye, Ozzie, guys I've gotten in fights over). b.) The dismissal of RBI, HR, Wins, Saves, Losses. I could accept this if the fricking big league announcers didn't use these stats but they do!! They are vital in every broadcast of every team. And yet you cite them on a message board and you are ... buried! c.) The failure of the younger posters to understand why some of us don't give a flip about the draft and simply want to win every game we play. To me there's nothing like being in the race even if the team ultimately flops in September or late August. Throwing away seasons is a waste of precious time in life. "Wait til next year" is a chant of losers IMO. Even if the Sox of the Bill Melton era won 50 games one year, a true fan IMO wanted win No. 51, not some ridiculous draft pick. And a good Sox fan years ago sorely wanted to finish better than the Cubs record wise even if it was one game. Now, yawns on the Sox-Cubs thing. That said ... adios and may the summer last forever! Winter blows!

Caulfield u gonna be in KC at all this summer? I can meet you either at a Royals game (yuk, unless it's against Sox) or give u a tour of Allen Fieldhouse. Unless of course I make it back to Chitown. GO SOX!

Ed Debevics ??
Make sure you eat at the game one night. Ballpark food at The Cell might be amongst the best in baseball. I mean the real food. Corned beef, roast beef, I'm assuming the pizza is still good. Yummmmmmmm.

Yeah, Jose is so un-good on shots to his left that they seem like clean hits when it's merely because he is sloth-like on shots to his left. I concede I have seen some of those hits blaze by him.

Is this really Caulfield? Do u still exist? The font and size is non-Caulfield style. Where u been? You are a Hall of Fame poster.

Favorite Personal White Sox Player Interaction
That's cool Fisk lives in Chicago area. Pitch at risk to Carlton Fisk; Pitch at risk to Rich Zisk. ... I once in high school competed in watermelon eating contest on the field on the 4th. I didn't even try to win just ate a cold delicious couple pieces of melon. The White Sox players were nice, a few saying, "Don't choke on the seeds." p.s. You had to send in a postcard or something to be eligible for 4th of July contests. It was quite a thrill when somebody from the Sox called our house (no cell phones then) to confirm I'd been chosen for the melon contest and making sure I wanted to accept.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
It's time for Nate to pitch in the Independent League. He needs to go the way of Humbar. No offense to Nate. Injuries suck, but Nate needs to head to the Indy League or Japan.
-
I have some bad trade ideas
Of course not. Unless we suddenly were gonna start spending like the Yankees. We have to believe in those Sox players or the rebuild is certain to flop. I mean I guess I'd be OK with that trade if we just changed the name of the team to the Chicago Trout. This one man team would not win ... ever.
