  1. Q belongs on the Chicago White Sox. He's beloved and Coop would fix him IMO. Cmon, keep dangling Colome and a prospect and we get Q. Or maybe straight up Collins for Q and a decent prospect? If McCann is the real deal we don't need Collins. On second thought Colome for Q even up. It's dangerous trading everyday players for pitchers. Collins might become a budding all star.
  2. It's one of the worst trades in baseball history for sure, but like I've pointed out, it's nullified by the Eloy deal. Eloy baby! Too bad Hahn whiffed on the Tatis deal but it's possible KW or some meddler (Jerry?) told them to acquire Shields no matter what. Remember Shields had a few good seasons afore we got him.
  3. Thanks Ray Ray. By the way, Ray Durham was a helluva player.
  4. Amen brother. I think we're just in an era nobody thinks about keeping a guy long term unless he's one of our key core rebuilding prospects. If you are a reliever, in the eyes of fans you are not only expendable but should be traded to acquire more prospects. It's almost heresy to suggest Colome might be in our bullpen 3-6 years or something like that. It's kind of scary because relievers are so inconsistent from year to year. When they hit a team where they fare well ... maybe a team in the future will buck the system and actually keep the guy for a while like in the old days when Bobby Jenks was our closer for a few seasons or Thiggy or Roberto Hernandez or some others. But in today's baseball, closers are a dime a dozen and if one is hot like Colome you trade him and don't look back.
  5. I do wish we'd play Collins more. However, if McCann is our future catcher, it's decision time regarding Collins. If he's our backup catcher of the future, then just have him play once or twice a week as he'll be doing during his Sox career. If he's a starter, we may have to trade McCann in a blockbuster deal. He's become a stud obviously.
  6. How dare you. Don't rush players is the common stance of baseball today. Kidding but Robert is way too inexperienced if you go by today's front office executives' opinions.
  7. Burger is one of the reasons I dismiss the MLB draft ... total crapshoot.
  8. I can't believe runs scored and RBIs means nothing to the advanced stat people. I mean I understand those who understand advanced stats are so advanced in their knowledge of modern baseball, but an RBI means you actually knocked in a run. Runs win games. Yet the ability to knock in runs at a rapid rate -- at one of the best rates on the entire team -- means nothing. Baseball has passed me by.
  9. Yes! I feel vindicated again. Congratulations to one class act ... Mr. Jose Abreu, one outstanding baseball player and by all accounts, team leader. JOSE BABY!!! Good job, sir. Have fun at the all star game.
  10. It's hilarious how some people are so afraid of rushing prospects. How old is Tatis? Glad to see most in this thread are in favor of bringing him up. I can't wait for baseball to change its mindset to that of the NBA and start playing guys at 19 years old. This system of wasting 4-6 years in the minors makes no sense.
  11. It's funny how the Sox wasted all that money in the offseason and it doesn't matter in the big scheme of things. It's all monopoly money, but I sure would love them to give the fans 1 or 2 million instead of those stiffs they signed. It's like grabbing millions of dollars and just throwing it in the shredder. They should have just taken a couple million and paid the corned beef stand owner and said give out free sandwiches all season, or for a few months til the money ran out. Alonso, Jay, the starting pitcher whose name I already forgot (that old stiff who got lit up), and Nova who is also sub-par to lousy. That's why the Sox falling short in their bid for Manny (whom I did not want) is so silly. All that money they spent on stiffs could have been added to the Manny offer. To be honest I did not want Manny because of all his antics. I wanted Harper. Anybody gonna pick up Alonso? Will he report to the minors? He was designated for assignment.
  12. I think we rebuild regardless. It is the current "thing to do" in sports and it assured Hahn year after year on the job. Losing is/was something to be celebrated which helps the GM's job status. Don't get the idea I'm criticizing Hahn though. His acquisition of Eloy makes him a genius in my book. Eloy is that electric. If he stays healthy he's going to wind up with 30 home runs minimum.
  13. Eloy hits a bomb. Leadoff Leury getting closer to .300 mark. This is about the score you expect when we play Minnie. I'm always surprised when we get a win off them. Why is Minnesota so good? Did they do some rebound/tank job to get to this point?
  14. He really would look good in the Sox lineup with Eloy and Moncada.
  15. Glad you are so confident of that as they sit on the shelf healing. Why are you so confident of this? PTATC are modern pitchers guaranteed to be stronger than ever, better than ever after arm surgeries?
  16. Yes, but ... If Colome helps them win another World Series, why not trade with the Sox. If Cubs can get 2 WS titles out of this run with Theo that's an all-time successful run in Chicago sports history to go with Jordan's Bulls which is No. 1 and the Blackhawks winning 3 of 6 or 3 of 5.
  17. Wayne Causey and Wayne Nordhagen also played for the Sox as did Dave Nicholson. As well as Cisco Carlos.
  18. Exactly. There aren't many players who can or could survive 3 or 4 seasons with the same team on message boards. There's always somebody who allegedly is better. Take a good hard look at almost all players with the exception of a handful of the all stars and you'll see failure after failure in the eyes of fans. Very few can survive the advanced stat avalanche over the course of 4-5 seasons.
  19. Did anybody go see Rocketman? Is it good or do you have to appreciate Elton John to enjoy it??
  20. If it's six weeks I think it's reasonable to suggest he's done for the season if we are way way behind in the standings. That's one thing about tanking. If we ultimately really start dropping games in bunches,, why would you play Timmy on a weak ankle? He doesn't need the at bats for his development. He is who he is. A free swinger who is not going to draw walks but flail away and have a good game more often than not.
  21. I didn't see it. But if it was that obvious I bet they change it.
  22. Yeah I never liked him but tonight I'm giving him props. He does a nice job for the most part and that's all I can ask on such a lousy team. I tip my cap to Leury. Seems to me he has a lot of multi hit games. He's like a modern day Lance Johnson (in a good Lance year).
  23. And a nice dig on the DP. People seem awfully mad after a fantastic win.
  24. Damn just examined the box score and watched highlights. This whole page of this thread is negative. Geez. We beat Minnesota. My guy Abreu with the nice dig on the double play BTW. I guess those plays are expected. Beautiful bomb by Eloy. As much as our leadoff hitter is meh to me, I won't argue if somebody wants to call him a nice player. He gets a lot of hits. Always nice to beat Minnie. I assume that guy we started is just another guy. At any rate, we win. I happy.
  25. Who isn't getting hurt? I'd like to see a list of all major leaguers and the percentage who have missed a least a month on average every season.
