  1. I'd take one win from Jon Jay's bat before he's in my rear view mirror. Get on base.
  2. Let's win it for Cordell. He's stepped up in Game 2 as well as Game One.

LOL. You ever heard of a compliment as in "Jack you obviously are a good person." Only you mods who despise me could ever take this comment by me and turn it into a despicable comment. I wrote: "You must be the pride of your parents cause many/most? 19 year olds want to sleep a lot later than you do. You get up early to get to work every day by 8:30 I'd assume. Where do you park in the big city?" I call him the pride of his parents and that's bad. I qualify it as many/most? in terms of 19 year olds wanting to sleep. So would you have been happy if I took out the most with a question mark? Just say you hate me and be done with it. Your examples are silly at best. Now I'm accused of "generalizations." On an opinion board which is made up of lots of generalizations.

All of the time? Here we go again with misconstrued generalizations and inaccurate character assassination statements. I defy you to find a more polite person/poster than myself when I am actually addressing others. Cite specific instances and dates of posts. You may say I generalize about "stat people" or "advanced stat people." I think I have a large sample size of advanced stat people's comments to realize they don't give a flip about RBIs or batting average or wins/losses of pitchers. Or save totals. Those aren't generalizations.

Out.Of.Line. A non slanderous post would be that I remember when I was 19 wanting to sleep til noon during the summer. Hmmm some people can't help blasting others I guess.
  6. Leury, however, has been a nice find. Leury is just a tad shy of .300 and is a likeable, fairly productive player.
  7. It seems like half the home games in Chicago and also KC either have a great chance of rain or it rains. Cmon environment, wake up. It's summer.

Where do you park in the big city? Hang in there, Jack. Sounds like a fairly difficult time of your life. Hopefully you'll find something great before long.

Jack you are obviously a good person so please don't be offended. You seem open thus I was curious about a couple things. Don't answer if you feel the least bit sensitive or offended. I was wondering living with your folks in your 30s ... how that works. Do you have to pay rent? Can you eat their food like we did as kids or do you have to fill the fridge once in a while with your own money. Do you have your privacy? Your own set of keys, etc? Who gets to park in the garage in the winter? Take care. I wish u luck in finding work. Since you have some problems with traditional jobs could you open a pet sitting service? Or something like that? Or figure a way to make money as an Uber driver?

You come in at 7:30 and work til 4:30 so you are a reliable employee. You are still starting a half hour earlier than most folks. I thought 19 year olds were not into such regular hours? Not blasting you in any way just wondering what is up.
  11. Sickening. All things considered, including the fact the Sox play in an awful division, it has been an embarrassing decade. No doubt the Sox need a new owner with deep pockets and new front office and new instructors. Our organization is truly one of the worst in baseball. It's be OK with me to fire all of them except Hahn. Get rid of KW. Hahn of course gets a lifetime pass IMO cause of Eloy and the fact he's not truly in charge. KW and Jerry obviously have a huge say in roster.
  12. I'm thinking some veteran out of work managers and GMs would love to see what they can do with a team with a handful of stars like Gio, Cease, Colome to start with on the mound as well as Tim, McCann, Abreu, Eloy, Moncada, Robert and Madrigal in the everyday lineup. I think Ricky is OK but cmon, take the talent we have, grab a couple good free agents and start winning this weak division for say, 10 years in a row.
  13. Great post. I get most upset when the advanced statters seem to get all worked up the most about how bad Jose is when his batting average starts to dip to .250 or below. It seems that wakes them up. So they ARE looking at batting average. Interesting.
  14. Amen brother. Poppy rocks!
  15. I wonder how all the losing has affected our younger fan base. Do little kids on the South Side still stick up for the Sox in arguments with their peers about Cubs vs. Sox. Or have the Sox lost all its younger fanbase?
  16. I've been repeating myself on here for years regarding baseball announcers almost exclusively quoting the traditional stats. "Now batting, Leury Garcia, who is hitting .295 with six home runs and 30 RBI." Or Stoney after a guy hits a home run immediately telling us how many RBI a guy has and how many homers. Oh, yes, some of the announcers throw in WAR once in a while and all that. Not many. I'm so glad there are more posters who think the way I do on here now.
  17. I love Timmy but the way this board treats injured players (Avi) ... we better hope Timmy doesn't miss six weeks or so for injury reasons again next year or he'll be thrust into the off-injured category. Timmy's injury, like Avi's, proves stuff happens when you are giving 100 percent playing baseball.
  18. I love this post and this poster! I will join you. I feel vindicated now that baseball tells us what they think of Abreu. Remember, he earned this all star spot. They didn't have to take a third White Sox player. Obviously he is well respected as a productive veteran baseball player!
  19. Those who root for losses will tell you we woulda picked somebody much better than Burger had we just dropped 8-10 more games.
  20. We got Colome for Omar. Any other team could have acquired Colome in the offseason for a similar type player. True Omar is having a very nice season, but he wasn't highly regarded at the time of the trade. That's all we are going to get for Colome, an Omar-type player. I mean, people, anybody coulda acquired Colome last offseason for scraps. They are not going to overpay for him just a few months later.
  21. I wonder how many fan bases have 3 time all stars as unpopular as Abreu is to Sox fans, at least the ones who use message boards. It's almost as if some people won't give it a rest until he's long gone from the South Side. Or are all-star appearances now also no measuring stick of a player's value like RBI and runs scored. Means nothing in the advanced stat era?
  22. Not really because of the rebuild/tank. Our draft picks have been nothing special. Our key players are the ones we got via trade and international market.
  23. I don't think any Sox plan considers "saving" money. It's in the Sox rulebook. It's part of the modus opperandi. They like to keep the owners' pockets stuffed full of cash. I doubt they are "saving" to spend it when it matters most to winning. Arguably at 5 out of the wild card we could have done some "winning" this season had dollars been spent on starting pitching and another bat.
  24. I shut up when we drafted him cause at that time the board was quite mean compared to now and I didn't want to continue my negativity and possibly get put on vacation. I stayed neutral on Burger.
  25. And yet most modern fans don't care. We're losing on purpose in order to build a roster so outstanding we'll run away with the division sooner rather than later, then dominate the playoffs and Series as well.
