  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) Why is this a smoking gun? They went through her emails and no charges. Now there are some emails on another computer. Chances are, they are emails they have already seen. The fact is, this new "evidence" of Hillary's guilt, hasn't even been looked at. The emails just exist at this point and haven't been read by the Feds. And what is the intent here? Is Hillary a traitor? If anyone is a traitor it is Trump who actually encouraged Russia to hack emails. He should be in jail. You answered my question by quickly mentioning Trump. People hate Trump so they vote for Hillary. Makes sense ... not. There's a simple solution. Write in your favorite write-in. In my case Jesse Ventura. To vote for Hillary is to vote for 2 years of impeachment bulls***.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) I'll give the Cubs organization credit. They had a plan. They executed a plan. They won a pennant, which is an accomplishment. And their window for winning will still be there the next few years. That's the baseball side of it...good for them. As far as their stupid fans...nothing would make me happier than to see them lose all three games at Wrigley in their first World Series in 71 years. All that money spent by d-bags just to see them lose...would love it! Good point about the morons who spent all that money for two games that arguably were misery for Cub fans. A shutout for gosh sakes and another bad offensive performance in a five-run defeat. Not worth 10,000 bucks.
  3. Is there any proof the Sox are even thinking about dealing Sale? I say no way JR is going to trade starting pitching.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 05:23 AM) Opinion columnists in a major national newspaper...you always have some guys on the right, some on the left, this has the same amount of likelihood of making a difference as Leonard Pitts or Paul Krugman calling out Donald Trump. The fact of the matter is nobody has the first clue what, if anything, is there. The FBI doesn't even know. The only consequence might be on Huma Abedin and her needing to stay even more in the shadows. That said, the most recent WashPo poll had it 47-45 Clinton, and that was before Friday. Still, she has to be considered the favorite, although Trump has made some inroads with independent voters in the last 7-10 days. Why are so many people (not saying you) unwilling to simply write off Hillary? My gosh how many smoking guns do you want? The woman is corrupt as corrupt can be. Keep her the heck out of the Oval Office. When she gets elected, boy oh boy she's going to get a lot done during her first two years when the government will be putting her on trial. I get the feeling even if the Republicans had a normal candidate, people would still want Hillary. It baffles the s*** out of me. Oh well, let's elect her and get it over with an impeach her as soon as possible. probably in 15 months I'd say.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 06:13 AM) 25% of Cubs fans are unsure they would be happy about a win because the lovable losers tag would be gone forever...their entire franchise identity in modern times. I can guarantee no White Sox fan felt the same way in 2005. The only thing that had them shook was the Indians. But they survived it and came through whole on the other side. The Cubs aren't used to playing with this type of pressure because nobody pushed them the entire season. Sure, the Giants pushed a few buttons until they came back in the 9th...and being down 2-1 against the Dodgers, but they had home field, inexperienced rookies in Urias and Maeda and a lineup without multiple threats like CLE has with its top five hitters. Not to mention Miller/Allen have gotten into the heads of the Red Sox, Jays and now Cubs. Cubs' hitters were expanding their zones yesterday, and they still haven't made the necessary adjustments on offspeed stuff. It might just be too late to change the game plan at this point, because success came too easily for most of this year. I still think they'll roll next year no matter what. This would be exactly like KC losing to the Giants then coming back the next year and getting the job done. The Cubs are going to reach the WS again next year, it's just a matter of will they be going for two in a row; or to finally have the experience to win it all. Of course when you fail once you always can turn into a Detroit. Not getting the job done with a good core. I still think Cubs win it all this year. They have the best team.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) Fremd is good. They lost to 8-1 Barrington and 9-0 Palatine. It's still a massive upset though. Defense matters and Brother Rice doesn't have one. I didn't think Rice could win a state title but I didn't expect this. Good point about defense. Rice has a couple real studs on defense yet the unit stunk. I wish I could remember the particulars but I felt like this game was lost when Rice had it fourth and 1 at the 1 and elected to boot a field goal. I believe it was early in the fourth and the kick left Rice down by two scores I believe. I felt like a team with the best offense in the state has to go for it on fourth and one. I think had Rice scored a TD they STILL would have been down by a few points. Sure enough Fremd scored the next possession and Rice was a little bit too far behind to make the comeback work. Not to be mean but sometimes coaches do the darndest things on the sidelines. If coach Badke (sp) was watching that game on TV I guarantee you he'd say 'go for it' in that situation. But on the sidelines he thought the 3 points was the best option even though they are on the 1 yard line. Hmmm. If I'm getting the particulars wrong I apologize. But I think what I described is correct. A TD was pretty much needed there. I'm sure the kids were a bit deflated kicking it as like I said, it's probably the best offense in Rice history and u gotta be able to get one yard there. Oh well. I really as an alum am proud of those kids. They really play hard. This was the only game I sensed some less than stellar effort at times. Smalling and the QB Borelli and running back whose name escapes me plus Brian the LB who got hurt and a big lineman whose name escapes me, also a receiver named Houston and a return man whose name escapes me who is damn good. Rice had some damn fine players. And their kicker can kick. Oh well, u got to believe Loyola woulda beat them again. GO BRO RICE! p.s. to the average chicagoan is Rice hated or respected as a school?
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 04:25 AM) God it kills me that we could have had Francona as manager instead of Robin. Some of us wanted him back then. He's a genius, a difference maker. Hopefully Renteria will be better than Robin. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 04:38 AM) It pains me to say this but it must be said now. The Cubs are going to take the next three and win it all. This series wreaks of the nba finals. Cubs ain't losin' three at wrigley. Just ain't happening. It's goin' back to Cleveland where they will unleash the loch ness monster that is Schwarber and ride their superior pitching matchups to the title. don't want it to happen. but its gonna. The Cubs aren't dead yet, but they actually have some pressure on them Sunday to fricking win one of the three home games. If Cubs win, yes they could take 2 in Cleveland for sure with Schwarber. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 05:02 AM) Frank just had a spectacular moment on the postgame. Rose and the other two guys came out and said "I think the Cubs are in a good place right now, they've got their aces going tomorrow and in game 6 and then they're set up to take this to game 7". Frank's turn comes up and he just says f*** this the Cubs are in trouble, they need to go win a game tomorrow, they're desperate and their backs are to the wall, it's all hands on deck. Frank is a great analyst IMO. Love that guy.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) It's not credible and the Tribune has been the more conservative paper in Chicago forever. The Trib endorsed Hillary didn't they? It's not credible? Are u serious? That article is Hillary's demise.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 30, 2016 -> 12:44 AM) Washington Times, not reputable. The ones within the FBI complaining the most vociferously are those whose allegiances lie with the right hand aisle of the political spectrum. It's not as if the entire FBI rank and file is Dem because Obama is president. These are agents who have been working for multiple presidents, and, by and large, lean to the GOP, at least slightly. So one, it would not be in the best interests of the country to impeach her...it would be seen as a political witch hunt like Bill Clinton's hearings in 1998/99. Two, it would give them a more difficult, younger opponent in Kaine in 2020. His popularity will be similar to Biden. So if Greg really is a lifelong GOPer until recently, the only thing that will give you the presidency is a complete economic collapse, and a different prescription than trickle down economics. Does really anyone want that? To burn the country down? The GOP simply needs to find a more market-based method to provide health care that doesn't leave things worse for the poor and middle class than 2008. They articulate that vision, they have a decent opportunity to bring Hispanics and Asians back into the fold. I am a lifelong GOPer but I said before I may need to be reclassified. I voted for Obama last time and won't vote Republican this time either. I'm not sure I voted for McCain before that because I despised Palin. In Kansas I despise Brownback and didn't vote for him. So I guess I am not Republican.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) Fremd is up 28-17 at Brother Rice with 6 mins left in the 3Q. It would awesome to see BR get beat in round 1. Tough 45-42 loss for Rice. Quite frankly Fremd looked like the better team though Rice gave it a helluva effort late. Rice was flat early, even though it only trailed by four at half then trailed by two scores much of the second half. Maybe a Loyola loss hangover. The Rice offense got it going from late third quarter on, but Fremd kept answering. Rice's heart and soul, Brian Olsen, got taken off on a stretcher late and the stadium was dead silent in respect for about 10 minutes as he was attended to. I pray he's OK. Q for high school fans on here. Is Fremd in a good conference? Do they have a good program? Or was this some monumental upset today? Good season for Rice. I watched several games on the internet and I'd say they had to have had the best offense in school history, stars running all over the place, but the defense was very sieve-like. During much of the regular season the defense did come up with individual big plays to save the day in some close, high scoring games, but it was overall a porous defense. Rice also has a heckuva junior kicker who could have been a weapon the more they advanced in the playoffs. Go Bro Rice!
  11. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) You haven't shown me anything, and to answer your question...no, there is no logical route to impeachment right now. Greg, tell me what is the actual issue with latest re-opening by the FBI? What are they investigating? Do you know? Does anyone at this time? Tell me the facts. When you do, tell me how the facts draw a line to impeachment. Is it this? https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/792387305176653824 You have zero idea what you are talking about...like always. Cant you do a google search? Do I have to link all the stuff I found? Did you read the Tribune story calling for the Democrats to remove her? A lot of people are appalled by the email thing.
  12. Am I allowed to put this in the Democrat thead since it is written in the CHICAGO TRIBUNE?? How credible is this. He says Hillary must drop out of the race now. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columni...028-column.html
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) how are the cubs favored tonight? +119 for cleveland going to be 5k You are going to lose your bet taking the Tribe. Cubs big tonight.
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) Strike one. Try again. Provide me a link from a reputable site saying impeachment is likely. I guess you win here. But you don't see a logical result of impeachment? She's going to win the election and she's going to continue to be investigated. You are just so sure she's innocent? Hillary Clinton? Actually I win. Limbaugh mentioned it and do a simple google of Hillary Clinton could be impeached. The Washington Times said it; many are saying it.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 06:16 PM) It's as if you don't actually know what is going on with this new email stuff and assume the worst. At the very least, read some of the posts above yours to realize this is pretty much nothing. Then explain the former assistant FBI director saying it has to be serious for Comey to do what he did. Powerful.
  16. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Find me one credible site that says odds are "good" that Hillary will be impeached. Not a humor site, not Infowars, not a blog with conservative or red in the title. An actual site with journalists saying odds are good Hillary will be impeached. Go. I heard the former assistant director of the FBI say this HAD to be serious for Comey to do what he did yesterday. That guest was pretty powerful in indicating the seriousness of this. Does Obama have the power to fire Comey? That could be the next to come of this. Don't forget, other people in the FBI were furious at his letting Hillary slide the first time. Comey has to be tougher this time or they will leak, leak leak info. As far as impeachment, I don't know who said it but Chris Wallace was very tough on her and during his discussion somebody did say she could be president and the first six months be involved in her own trial. I did hear that. If she's guilty, she has to be impeached unless she pardons herself (which I heard is actually legal).
  17. QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) This is pretty much fact. I honestly can't fathom how we have undecided voters at this point. How? Then call them voters who will do what I'm doing, writing in a candidate or not voting at all out of disgust. One would think some people would change their minds about Hillary when many are saying she could go to jail over this or at least be deemed guilty and get impeached. Why wouldn't some change their minds?
  18. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) 1. Saladino has a herniated disc in his lower back. Right now its an open question if he'll be able to play next season. 2. "Good" catchers are scarcer then hen's teeth, the price to get one may be overwhelming if any are even available. Mark Wow. I feel for Saladino. That's it for his career ala Crede. Those back injuries are brutal. I hope Lawrie steps it up a notch. About catcher ... if we don't get a good one we can forget about the wildcard.
  19. So I'll put this in the Republican thread since I got yelled at for ripping Hillary in the Democratic thread. So she wins the election in a landslide but likely will be impeached early in her presidency. What does that say about our voters? Even Meghan Kelly's show tonight was negative in tone surrounding Hillary. Some judge came on and the former assistant FBI director for gosh sakes and both said it HAD TO BE SERIOUS for the FBI director to say what he did today. Hmmmm ... it's apparent Hillary will be our first woman president, but you guys have to admit, odds look GOOD she will be impeached in her first year. This is so fricking bizarre. We better hope Tim Kaine is a good leader cause he'll be taking over.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 04:55 AM) Also crazy how the only wind-aided ball was the one Chisenhall couldn't handle against Soler. Especially with Tomlin giving up 26 homers in less than a full season of starts. I thought that was the game. I do realize the Cubs had to knock him in from third, however. I thought that botched play would be huge. Cleveland has a good team and a good manager. Still think talent will prevail and Cubs have more talent.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) This is why no one takes you seriously. At this point you are one of those funny drawings where the artist intentionally exaggerates certain facial features for comedic effect. I didn't know it was fake. So shoot me. Please read my long post and comment. It's worth a discussion.
  22. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Does that even count as satire? It has no message, and it's not even trying to be funny a la The Onion. It's just....dumb fake news. I didn't know it was fake.
  23. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) Are robbing banks and setting failing businesses on fire with cigarettes in trash cans common accidents? I try my best with analogies. I never said I was good at it. Punch me for trying. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) The point here - don't armchair lawyer things you don't understand. A fair rebuke IMO. I wish people would answer the questions in my long post in the other thread.Partisanship aside, this has interesting consequences. I still do think Comey let her off the hook. He did say she perjured herself but nobody cares, Illini. Do you agree she purgered herself at the very least? When he said she lied six times?
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Intent is actually an important part of whether or not some actions are a crime! Again with all due respect ... I didn't intend on dropping that cigarette butt in the trash can in my failing restaurant and didn't know it would burn down." etc etc. That was a very weak excuse of Comey the first time.
