  1. It's 48-37 Loyola with two minutes left. They're just too good on offense. Rice did have a chance to stay in front but a fast receiver caught a pass, up three, and after getting to about the Loyola 20 didn't protect and they got the ball. Loyola scored and hasn't looked back. Gonna have to do it the hard way in the playoffs.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 02:54 AM) Rice up 2 at half. Game is on UToo if you have it. 360 on xfinity great game. I'm watching. Looks like Rice is gonna fall a little short barring something wild late.
  3. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 07:54 PM) Who said this? Soxtalk majority has been so anti NL for a long time. Cmon anybody deny this?
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) AAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Rich Hill has made fools of opponents this year. And Kershaw was on pace for one of the greatest single seasons by a pitcher ever if he hadn't been sidelined with injuries. Kershaw could very well go down in history as a Top 5 pitcher if he pitches to form for a few more years. If he hadn't missed time he'd be getting his second MVP and fourth Cy Young. I thought the NL was so inferior numbers can't even be trusted.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) i just really dont get why people arent talking about abortions and babies who are crying being ripped out of their mothers at 9.5 months. i heard on the limbaugh show that a kid was aborted at 14 years old the other day someone has to get ahold of this and crooked hillary wont Abortion is a heartwrenching topic on many fronts. I won't tackle it in terms of expressing opinions.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) i just wanted to post it and get it out here ahead of him so we could all move past it and continue with the thread Hmmm. I sense some strong Hillary support rather than people assuring me they think she's also a flawed candidate. QUOTE (MEANS @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) You forgot 8 years Chelsea and talking about yourself in the third person. Reading this thread makes me glad some of my points appear to have sunk in.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) Dodgers offense is terrible as was the Giants. There is no real threat right now in that lineup against he cub pitching. Maybe the cub pitching is just that good. Kershaw had to throw 7 innings of shut outball to get the win. Exactly. Dodgers are an inferior opponent and Cubs win. It would take just what Harry says. And if it 'somehow' went game 7, no way in hell the Cubs would lose to an Independent League pitcher in Hill. They would bash him. Kershaw the best pitcher in the game? I disagree. Face facts. Like we all suspected from the regular season runaway, it's the Cubs year. The Giants and Dodgers players are 1/3 as good as the Cubs. Rizzo is this year's Hosmer; Bryant is arguably the best hitter around and the Cubs defense and bullpen and starters are amazing. The parade is coming soon.
  8. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 04:15 AM) If a new park is ever built it will be by new ownership and just as the Mayor and city fought to build the new park at a location they chose in the late 80's (Mayor Washington said the ONLY location the city would support and that he would tell his people on the Stadium Authority Board to vote for was across the street from the original park) you can expect the city to place location demands once again. Mark You've all convinced me. Sox are a stepchild and no new stadium will be built unless the new owner fits the bill and you can forget about that. No fricking way. Not when they could move the team and get a free one in Vegas or anywhere. We really truly should stop talking about it. 35th and Shields neighborhood just needs to modernize and become a destination area for fun. That also will never happen. Fans are used to getting to the Cell and most fans have a way to get in and park and get out they are comfortable with. So we're stuck with it. Just enjoy what we've got.
  9. If the Bulls go 10-20 to open would they fire Fred? Is his job on the line this year already?
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 07:08 AM) But the series doesn't end either way. If you want to pitch the exact same guys these two games you're telling us that you think Kershaw on short rest and Maeda on two days extra rest > than both of them on their normal schedule. But the Dodgers only hope was to keep the momentum and go up 3-2 and try to somehow scratch out a win in Chicago. No way Dodgers can win two. In fact Cubs are locks for Game Six.
  11. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 05:30 AM) I don't know how I can further explain it. Kershaw pitching at home in Game 5 gave LA the best chance to win prior to coming to Chicago. That's it I'd have done it your way Tizzle. Good luck to the Dodgers' way. I think Cubs beat Kershaw and that's that.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 01:16 AM) Terrible decision by Roberts to not start Kershaw tonight. Maeda has been beyond awful of late Awful. This series is over. Horrible decision. It was LA's only chance. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Oct 21, 2016 -> 03:47 AM) The Dodgers basically conceded this game by not starting Kershaw and running Ruiz out there in the cleanup spot. Definitely. And they conceded yesterday's game pitching the 20 year old. What a gift. But the Cubs will obviously take it. Why not? They'll beat Kershaw and that will be that. Lotta partying in Chicago Sat night.
  13. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 07:45 AM) Jesus man. Dig a little deeper than CNN. There are like 100 brutally horrible things about Hillary. Nothing provable of course, but it stinks man. Do a little research, connect a few dots and it's hard to not puke on the keyboard. If you think her heart's in the right place...ask yourself why she was a senator from new york and why she was secretary of state. To serve the public??? GMAFB. It's to be the first woman president nothing more. Watching her talk about her 30 years of "service" is sickening. Fame & Power drive that bus, not a call to serve. Not saying trump is any better regarding fame & power. But he doesn't have the history of corruption, possible dead people, and using one of the highest offices of the government to lobby & prosper attached to him. I respect your opinion to like her by the way. I just think you aren't putting your detective hat on or you turn a blind eye to certain things because they aren't proven. Dude you know she's green-lighting the violence inciting at the rallies. Not provable but it's one step from the front door. I think it's fair game to connect those 2 dots for example. Great great post. Never believe Hillary will be a good president or good person. As far as the abortion discussion, my bad in even commenting once. I can't comment on abortion. Even greg won't go there. I don't want to talk about it. I'll just keep my abortion comments to myself.
  14. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/page/playo...ge-knotted-nlcs Found this quote from a scout interesting: "They won't beat Kershaw," he said, unequivocally. "And I think they will struggle again with Hill. Anyone who pitches in and changes speeds will have success against the Cubs right now. Any kind of downer breaking ball destroys them." Hope it wasn't a White Sox scout. Those guys blow. Evidence is the Central Division killing us. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) I dont think this is true. I think they will look at it as the next step. They will see that they have progressed further in the playoffs each of the last two years and then next year is when it finally happens. If they lose to the Dodgers I think they would feel much more defeated. Yes. If the Cubs make the WS it's a great season for them. NL champs. Another step. Not making the WS? Huge disappointment and some concern (still) that they'll ever get it done. s*** can happen. I go back to the Tigers dynasty that never occurred.
  15. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 04:18 AM) I actually like Hillary. I think her heart is actually in the right place. She has the stink of corruption around her, but when you've been investigated virtually nonstop for 30 years - that happens. Do I think she's clean? No. But, I don't think anyone is. But I think all the scrutiny has probably made her cleaner than most. Cool that you like her. I don't think she's close to being clean though. She is as dishonest and conniving as they come. If I believed her quotes tonight on the middle class and saving Medicare, etc., I'd feel better. I dont believe a word she says though. Also about Obamacare. I mean Obamacare is a total disaster and a person in favor of Obamacare the disaster is gonna save social security and medicare? Hmmm.
  16. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 03:49 AM) I think the missing lede in this debate was Hillary's answer on abortion. Her defense of abortion, particularly late term abortion was one of the most honest, bold defenses of Roe v Wade I've ever seen in a campaign. What did she say? QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 04:03 AM) I still can't believe In 2016 this is still a topic. It's crazy we've gone this far in reverse where someone wants to reverse that ruling. Late term abortions are very scary. Have you seen the pictures of fully formed human beings? I don't even want to discuss it really. Don't like to think about it. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 04:07 AM) I think Hillary and Trump are both bad, but in different ways. Hillary is bad like processed sugar. Trump is bad like crack cocaine. So I can either eat some cookies, or smoke rocks. That's pretty easy I think. Not only bad, but horrific. Both candidates are awful with a capital A.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 04:17 AM) Chris Wallace has a Sunday show on regular fox every week, that's more respected than having an opinion show on cable Awesome I bet it's a good show. He is good IMO.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 04:14 AM) Gary Johnson is a f***ing disaster Greg. Isn't the guy winning Utah pretty good? I know Meghan McCain loves him.
  19. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 02:42 AM) We're a country of morons, sadly. It's very sad we won't let Gary Johnson and the guy who is winning Utah in the debates. They mighta gained some momentum over these two classless dolts. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 02:46 AM) Just want to say again that Chris Wallace is doing a really solid job here so far. He is excellent. He tries to be fair and tries to do his job. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 03:05 AM) Chris Wallace taking no s*** from anyone is my favorite part. Hopefully tonight sparks his career more. Don't know why he doesn't have his own show(s). He learned from his dad to be a fricking fair JOURNALIST. p.s. After watching the debate it dawned on me. Everybody knows by now Trump is an idiot and an ill-equipped PERSON to lead our country. Hearing Hillary's lies about helping the middle class (sure she will; the lady who gets 650,000 for a couple speeches) it dawned on me she is just as wretched a person as Trump. It seems to me Trump loses because most people realize he is scum; Hillary should be in the same scum category and a lesser perecentage of Americans are convinced she is scum. So Hillary wins and wins big.
  20. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 02:58 AM) I agree and that is a good point. Going down 3-2 would put the Dodgers in a critical position whereas the Cubs being down 3-2 would *at least* have home field advantage to come home to. How can they not pitch Kershaw tomorrow? Maybe they'll change their minds. It's LA's only hope.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 01:33 AM) Ballgame....Urias sucked with his location all night They conceded tonight pitching that guy. Their only hope is Kershaw tomorrow then taking their chances of claiming one win somehow in Wrigley. How do those morons who listed the Cubs odds of making the Series at 18 percent entering tonight's game feel now. Stupid. They just said Kershaw will pitch Game Six. Dumb. Dodgers only hope is taking a 3-2 series lead. Dodgers aren't going to win this series coming back from 2-3. It's over. Kershaw going Game Six, too late.
  22. I think it's safe to say in a perfect world our country would be done electing Clintons to office. Instead we got 8 years coming at a critical time for our economy and medical care and rioting in the streets: poor rebellion vs. everybody; middle class rebellion vs. the one percenters. And yet 8 years of Clintons minimum are ahead. Geez.
  23. I can't believe we drop to 9 just because of one loss, albeit it could be a true blowout. Rice has a few good wins like Marist and MC to its credit.
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Not really. You can go 8-1 and end up with a Maine South (who almost beat Loyola), or go 9-0 and in week two go to a LWE (who almost beat HF and lost to a good Bradley team) and was ranked rather highly all season. 7A is an absolute joke. I still think MC wins it all with a rather weak team. greg, I am not certain I am going to the Rice game. There is something intriguing about the Providence/MC game. Damn it would have been nice to win 7A. Was Rice ever 7A before? We're not going to win at LWE or on the road against anybody elite in the playoffs I don't think. Rice is great, don't get me wrong, but the fact Rita scored that many points again proved we're average on defense, excellent on offense. Do all those good playoff teams run the spread or are some old school high school offenses.
  25. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) Pitching. Yes the Cubs offense has been very good and the defense has been excellent but it's their pitching that's done the heavy lifting this year and the one area that could lead to an unfulfilled dynasty. With very few top arms waiting in the minors, losing Chapman to free agency this offseason, Arrieta, Hammel, and Lackey next, and Lester approaching the back end of his career, they could have a serious pitching problem sooner than most foresee. It's the reason why I think this year and next year are their two best chances of winning a World Series before the young core of infielders hits free agency. Why would the Cubs not sign whomever they WANT to keep? Cubs have tons of money. They spend as much as anybody don't they? Why wouldn't they keep all their studs? QUOTE (ron883 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Thanks for the shout out bro I'm really in a win win situation. The cubs win, I get to party my ass off in my north side confines. They lose, and I get some joy out of it. Life is good You seem kind of like a bad fan to me. Do you pretend to be happy for the Cubs when partying? I would never sell out even if it cost me from getting women. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) If the Cubs can get to Urias, I don't think they are in bad shape, because Lester should shut down LA in game 5, they are so bad vs LHP. I'm surprised Montgomery pitched last night, he seemed like a good candidate to replace Lackey today if he starts struggling. I still say Dodgers are conceding Game Four basically and putting it all on Kershaw to go up 3-2. After that you either win one game in Wrigley out of two or it's not meant to be. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) I know this might sound petty but there is this guy at work that is a big cub fan. He is in his early 30's and married with 2 young kids. He sits with this woman at lunch and flirts with her all day. Messaging on the company chat, going to each others desk, he kisses her on the neck and the cheek, and joke around about getting a hotel room. He is always nice to me but that crap pissed me off. I hope the Cubs lose so he cries . Karma is a b****. Man, to kiss her? They've either already fooled around or he's risking getting fired. HR would kick his ass out so quickly if she filed a complaint. You can't actually make contact like that. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 19, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) All I'm reading is an 83% chance the Cubs don't win the World Series I hate those figures so much. So if the Cubs win today and it's assured it's going back to Wrigley it's going to go from 83 percent against to probably 70 percent chance they DO win the World Series.
