1000 more people shot in Chicago vs same time last year
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2016 -> 09:20 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/b...1017-story.html Yes but I'm ALWAYS attacked on here when I say how dangerous Chicago is and the country is. It's so much better now than years ago, you know.

You know what's weird? Amy Schumer blasts Trump and gets booed and 200 people leave her show. Trump rallies truly are packed and Hillary's draw virtually hundreds not thousands. And yet Hillary is the runaway winner. Can you say ... rigged? Even with all of Trump's horrible statements he still is more popular than Clinton. https://www.yahoo.com/news/amy-schumer-dona...-151524058.html p.s. Schumer has some fight in her. I saw another clip of her where she had a heckler booted from the arena. In Florida she was all upset and said if anybody said anything more they'd be tossed out. She reminds me of Janaene Garapolo, so edgy it ruined Janene's career.

Also read this Wall St. Journal "Start with a June 2015 email to Clinton staffers from Erika Rottenberg, the former general counsel of LinkedIn. Ms. Rottenberg wrote that none of the attorneys in her circle of friends “can understand how it was viewed as ok/secure/appropriate to use a private server for secure documents AND why further Hillary took it upon herself to review them and delete documents.” She added: “It smacks of acting above the law and it smacks of the type of thing I’ve either gotten discovery sanctions for, fired people for, etc.” This part is APPALLING "A senior FBI official involved with the Clinton investigation told Fox News this week that the “vast majority” of career agents and prosecutors working the case “felt she should be prosecuted” and that giving her a pass was “a top-down decision.” The Obama administration—the federal government, supported by tax dollars—was working as an extension of the Clinton campaign. The State Department coordinated with her staff in responding to the email scandal, and the Justice Department kept her team informed about developments in the court case. Worse, Mrs. Clinton’s State Department, as documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show, took special care of donors to the Clinton Foundation. In a series of 2010 emails, a senior aide to Mrs. Clinton asked a foundation official to let her know which groups offering assistance with the Haitian earthquake relief were “FOB” (Friends of Bill) or “WJC VIPs” (William Jefferson Clinton VIPs). Those who made the cut appear to have been teed up for contracts. Those who weren’t? Routed to a standard government website. The leaks show that the foundation was indeed the nexus of influence and money. The head of the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Ira Magaziner, suggested in a 2011 email that Bill Clinton call Sheikh Mohammed of Saudi Arabia to thank him for offering the use of a plane. In response, a top Clinton Foundation official wrote: “Unless Sheikh Mo has sent us a $6 million check, this sounds crazy to do.” So Hillary voters .... you don't care about all this, right? The Russians made it all up or leaked it. So blame Russia not Hillary. She is evil, folks. Go ahead and bury your heads in the sand. We know you don't care. Hillary does no wrong.

Clinton was fed answers in debate. She has media in hip pocket. She communicated with high ranking officials helping her in email case. She blasted Catholics. 1.8 million bucks for a few speeches. Crooked.Hillary.IMO.

Why does literally no one care about the horrible stuff coming out of Clinton email leaks? Clinton supporters just blame Russia or blame the messenger. Why are you so beholden to Clinton?? How can intelligent people support her and not at least be outraged over these emails?

NLCS: Cubs vs Dodgers
QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) I find that to be obnoxiously arrogant and dismissive of the rest of the League. They've been good for 2 years now. Let's not pretend as though they are old hands at this. I understand the quality of their team, but making the pennant or the WS isn't so pedestrian for them at this point that it should render the entire season a failure. I disagree. It's a huge failure if they don't win it all (unless) they merely say baby steps and first WS since 1945 is baby steps. They are by far the best team. Nobody in their way has any reason to win it all this year in terms of talent being better than the Cubs. Tribe starting rotation blows compared to Cubs. Tribe does have one of those rare special managers however. But if Cubs don't win it all, only hope for die hard Chicago fans is they will turn into the Tigers. Win it every year (before KCR) and not complete the deal.

It's sad that educated people are telling us the election will be rigged. Sad state of affairs in the USA. Republicans stand no chance. And you people don't believe me that Chelsea will follow her mom to the oval office. Why wouldn't she? She's a lock to win. http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/16/politics/rud...rump/index.html

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) I'm normally with you, but Towns/Davis are the only ones who are true top ten or close players. Greek freak is a nice player, and porzingis faded big time. He will need to prove year two. But from three years ago when heat broke up we've lost bosh Duncan wade (pretty much) Garnett pierce Rose Howard Bryant and Ginobli with Parker not what he was We've seen Curry Thompson David Irving and KAT take a leap, but others like Wall/Beal have been pretty inconsistent and Wiggins still pretty good but not a top 25 player. The one and dones can't shoot. Went to the Heat-Timberwolves exhibition and top 10 pick Winslow, what a bricklayer. Wiggins? Still with much to prove shooting wise. NBA has to turn the D League into something special because these college guys need to be developed better. Baseball: Players need 4-5 years in the minors. NFL: Players need 4 years in college. NBA: We'll take 'em at 19.

NLCS: Cubs vs Dodgers
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) Absolutely no one. In fact Soxtalk is full of pre October 26, 2005 posts about how they wouldn't care what happened if we could only win it once. You have to sell your soul so to speak for one title if you are a Sox fan. I'm sure I felt the same way. Thanking Kenny and Jerry for the one title in a lifetime. It does grow old not having squat since but the one title was worth the ensuing 10 years of crap for sure. Hopefully the Sox will somehow get their act together but there's so much rebuilding to be done just to be a playoff team. It's going to be tough to get back to the WS in the next nine years which can go by fast. One WS in 20 years isn't great for a city as big as Chicago, but what the hell. Nothing we can do about it.

NLCS: Cubs vs Dodgers
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Man, would y'all stfu about Cubs fans. Who cares what they say on twitter or FB or at the bar or what f***ing ever. This team is god-like. They're going on a Braves-like run and ain't s*** anybody can do about it. I'll never openly root for the Cubs but them winning it all might force that other Chicago team to not be awful at just about every aspect of baseball. Scary thing about the Cubs is they are so good defensively and have such good pitching. I knew they'd pound SF. A Conor Gillaspie can get lucky and get hot for a week. The Cubs have good/great players and great pitching and defense. They are a lock to win it all. That said about the discussion here. If they don't win it all this year, they're a failure. I guess they could point to baby steps in saying they at least made the WS for the first time since 45, but it'd be a failure of a year. Cubs are that good. Those great Detroit teams proved there are no guarantees, however. s*** can happen but I think talent will prevail here. That acquisition of Chapman was huge. We should have beaten them to the punch and traded them Robertson for four players like the Yankees did.

I never said anything about someone's intelligence being correlated to their practicing of religion. I feel like I have to defend practicing organized religion here. I get a strong anti organized religion vibe on here. Really surprised Sox fans are so much on the left. Didn't mean to imply you weren't smart.

Do they do that a lot in the NL? That is walk the bases loaded to make the other manager pinch hit for a stud pitcher? I thought that was a silly move and BOOM BAM, grand slam. I watch AL not NL. Is that pretty common what the Dodgers did?

I love Brother Rice football. Does that make me a bad man? I'm afraid Rice is the same this year as always. Damn good, damn exciting but can't beat a fundamentally sound team like Loyola. Loyola by 21. Then if we have to play on the road I don't like our chances in the stacked playoffs. I predict Rice wins the Prep Bowl this year.

Thing is ... technically if we as Catholics vote for Clinton over Trump since one is pro abortion and the other anti, we could be denied Communion if our votes were public. Also, Kaine could be denied communion if he got in the line in which the bishop who ripped him was distributing communion. Kaine is unable to receive communion because of his public stance that is pro choice on this issue.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 09:11 PM) Greg, how can you actually be for Jesse Ventura when he stated he would never stand for the playing of the national anthem again? He claimed in 2011 that would raise his fist in the air ala Smith and Carlos in the 1968 Olympics. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Ventura See third paragraph, political criticisms. He served in the military though. So if he wants to protest, fine. I watched him on youtube saying he loves Colin for his stance cause we all have the right to free speech. I am against kneeling or sitting during the anthem, sure I am. But more than anything I was mad at the fact Colin was putting all the attention on himself in a team sport and I thought that was incredibly selfish and if I were the owner I'd be PISSED. Also I am standing up for the military who treat the anthem with such respect.

I actually agree that there's a faction of Catholics that are as fundamentally nutty religious as any other fundamentalist religions. I was just reading our local Catholic newspaper and the bishop here was blasting Tim Kaine for being pro choice. He really laid into Kaine, who went to Rockhurst High School in KC which is Jesuit. It's funny how everybody is picking the "lesser of two evils" this election and we Catholics apparently believe Trump is the lesser of two evils because of the all-important abortion issue. This is serious stuff to Catholics.

That's why we made it, to the letter. You're taking Republican Conspiracy theories from the #1 Republican news source and wondering why the Democrats don't want to hear it any more. Go wallow in the other thread with your conspiracy garbage. We've got work to do over here making this a better country and world. Don't mean to fight. But I'll get this straight. If my post is about a Democrat (Hillary) but is negative or extremely negative, I should put it in the Republican thread. But if a post is about a Republican (Trump) and is negative, put it in the Republican thread or the Democrat thread cause there are posts in here about how bad Trump is too. I think I've got it down pat. Just trying to figure out the rules and stay out of trouble on here.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) We also still have the majority of Americans getting their coverage through non- exchange plans, so while the struggles the exchanges are seeing in some states aren't good, it's not the total destruction of the private health insurance industry. Yes but the non exchange plans are getting more expensive every single day and covering less and less. It's a joke, actually. And ... despite all this, many industries are daily concocting ways to cut workers, get rid of workers. Why? They don't want to pay for health care for employees so they are cutting, cutting, cutting. It's very sad. Health care indeed is killing Americans. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) There is the "intent" of the law, and then there is the intent of the law. I have no doubt the government won't be content just controlling insurance, they then will want to control medication distribution and the actual practice of medicine, that they they can control "costs" to save us all. Probably. And yet so many on here are supporting fully and heavily the big government party over and over.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 07:52 AM) I could too although he has some rigid religious beliefs he needs to punt. Speaking of religion, Hillary would be in trouble if this were 30 years ago. I saw a video on youtube that had a priest in the church saying it was a serious sin if we vote for Hillary. She is pro choice and Trump is pro life. Interesting that they are officially saying it's a sin to vote for Hillary when the other side is pro life. Catholics today don't abide by the rules so it's no big deal, but like I said, years ago ... wow, she'd not get a single Catholic vote. She also offended all catholics in the leaked emails, but it's getting no publicity.
