Sanchez with the bomb. Nice. Folks, Robin might have saved his job which is scary.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:25 AM) Semien doesn't even get on base 30% of the time. That's what we need! Saladino's OPS was .674 until he had this good 18 game stretch. It's a fluke, just like he had at the beginning of his career. Semien is 25 years old and has 25 home runs. He's got potential.

QUOTE (Insp @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:23 AM) Interesting how once the team is not doing as well, the boo birds all come out to post. I will defend Saladino to the death.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:18 AM) Has this year taught you anything about the importance of depth? Keep both, let Saladino be a utility player and try to have the best roster possible. I think Tyler is a starter. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:20 AM) Meh. I want to get rid of s***ty players so that our team can win. I don't like that we accept mediocrities like Tyler. I get that we have other holes to fill, but that doesn't mean we should approve of junk. And we definitely shouldn't let him start every day. He's not a s***ty player. He's 3-for-4 tonight for gawd sakes and hitting about .290. He has pop in his bat. People thought Semien sucked too. The man has 25 home runs!!!! Can you say fire Hahn for trading Semien!!
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:12 AM) That's a bit of an overreaction. He's a utility guy. Tyler Saladino is 3-for-4. He's a very very very exciting baseball player. GET RID OF LAWRIE. Play Tyler. Free Tyler!
-
QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:09 AM) Tyler has a .672 career OPS. If it wasn't for his last 17 games, he'd be right above that mark this year too. The dude is f***ing garbage, but hey, let's start him over Brett Lawrie next year. It's cool- we're getting used to the cellar. He's not garbage. That's unfair. He'll probably get a key hit before this game is over.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 03:07 AM) f*** Saladino. This is his fault. I love Saladino.

Sale was a midget this inning. Couldn't overcome the bad play on the bunt at third.

Royals probably need to sweep this series to have any chance. The A's just mauled KC four in a row in Kauffman, but hey they are playing the pathetic Sox.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) The military is sworn to protect the constitution, in which you have the right to peacefully protest. So not sure how he's disrespecting the military at all. Like I pointed out, right or wrong, the Anthem is a big part of military life. I said I heard some military guys on the radio very upset because of the Colin protest. Some gave their lives; others limbs for our freedom. You watch the military during the anthem ... there is so much respect. How can it not be a slap in the face to many military when some rich ballplayer is sitting or kneeling during an anthem treated with so much reverence by the Army, Navy, Marines, etc? If some military are not offended by Colin, that is great. I respect whatever position any military man or woman wants to take on this issue. I respect Ezio's take and Jesse's. But I'm saying I can see why many are flat out pissed off. They gave limbs for us and we sit during a song that is treated with reverence and respect by virtually all military outlets. That said ... kill it. It's jumped the Shark. Colin ruined it. The Twitterverse ruined it by ripping poor Gabby Douglas. Get rid of it at sporting events NOW.

Even death penalty opponents might rethink their opinion

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) in this particular case... https://www.yahoo.com/news/warrants-mom-sou...-153131090.html the other article (from raw story) says they forced meth on Victoria "to calm her down". "According to a crime scene report, the body of Victoria Martens was discovered in a smoke-filled apartment, wrapped in a burning blanket and stashed in the bathtub. Police state, the child had no pulse, her left leg was almost completely cut off and both of her arms were missing. When police raided the apartment, they also discovered two adults with minor injuries, and captured a third who attempted to escape after jumping off a balcony...In interviews with girl’s mother, she admitted that her daughter was given methamphetamine to “calm her down,” and that Gonzales had sex with her before choking her to death. Gonzales has denied the accusation, saying Kelley killed the girl by stabbing and then dismembering her." That poor child. Brought into the world by animals. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 03:05 AM) Greg, looks like you'll have to pick someone other than Jesse Ventura. http://www.businessinsider.com/jesse-ventu...epernick-2016-9 I still love Jesse after watching that. I mean I think Colin is being disrespectful to the military with his stance of kneeling during the anthem when everybody else pretty much is being respectful. Jesse says he fought to give guys like Colin the right to protest. That's fine. I can accept that. I still think the way he's protesting is bulls*** but I can accept Jesse's points. Jesse did say, "Whether I agree with what he did is irrelevant." Yeah, I guess so. Like I said, Colin pretty much made a mockery of doing the anthem at sporting events. And the Gabby Douglas thing was so silly that people were mad at her. So as of today I think we should get rid of the anthem at sporting events. Because of Colin, it's kinda finally jumped the shark. Our country is way too divided to play a "National Anthem" at sporting events. Just kill it now and let us all continue to hate each other. That's what we seem to do best as a country.

QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) I'm with you Greg. It's really an amazing time to be a live and in the great city of Chicago. I, for one, moved near Wrigley field (within a walk 0.5 mi away) to get to enjoy this wonderful moment coming. But I don't want them to win it. I don't even want them in the WS. I can't suggest betting the house on the Cubs cause they are such prohibitive favorites. I can't recommend betting so much money that you get a tidy profit. It's like betting the heavy heavy favorite at Arlington. It's not worth it. But in terms of locks ... this is the biggest lock in a long long time. The AL team might as well be the Indians for the heck of it, cause the Cubs will roll through the postseason as our Sox did in 05. Cubs over cleveland 4 games to none.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) Jose, as of right now, is hitting .300 with 24 HR and 95 RBI. There is an outside chance that he gets .300 30 HR 100 RBI again. Considering where he was at the all star break, thats just crazy We have to accept the fact he's one of the better hitters in the game of baseball.

This probably isn't the right thread but I didn't want to open a Black Lives Matter thread. I had a question. I was watching the video today of the Yale students ganging up on some professor who was upset that the administration sent out a memo warning students to not dress up inappropriately for Halloween. Like have a costume that might offend. They ganged up on him and were screaming at him. One woman was crying and said she expected a "safe space" at Yale where she could be protected from offensive people/language. Is that the purpose of Yale?? To be a safe space?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) With Trump drawing higher ratings and much more coverage, why would they want Clinton? Bigger point, there's a much higher likelihood of war or some random conflict escalating with Trump, and that will play for even higher ratings. I guess cause the ratings blip you speak of is not important in this case. You are a smart person. You must see what greg sees. Total love of Hillary/Bill in the media. Why else would they censor a SCOOP? They got Bill to say Hillary faints often and they edit it out?? The media just has to have a Democrat in the oval office. I don't know why they aren't more like Limbaugh. Yes he wants a Republican in there, but he knows a Demo makes for better shows cause he hates Demos. Now if a tradiitional Republican gets in there (Trump is a different story; he's not really a Republican) Rush's show is affected cause he can't blast the Republican. If it's a Democrat however, like Bill or Obama or Hillary ... look out. He can rip away and it's much better talk radio. Why do the networks want Hillary so much? This incident is appalling.

How dare CBS protect Hillary by editing comments. https://radio.foxnews.com/2016/09/13/video-...rotect-hillary/ So now the networks get a scoop yet they want Hillary as President so badly they censor their own interview. For the life of me, I don't know why CBS wants Hillary as president so badly. CBS has some explaining to do!

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) They have Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Panarin, Hossa, and Crawford. With those guys they will be in contention for a cup every year. So yes, they'll be good. The West is very good though and Hawks have a lot of new guys and young players that will play this year. Nice. I would guess the young guys will be the key to whether we can make a run for the Cup.

Can you believe the Chicago Cubs are going to win the 2016 World Series? It's here and it's happening, folks. And if they win it, the Sox are irrelevant forever. It actually probably would be good for the Sox. To get our front office moving. Chicago is a championship city right now. The Hawks always win the Cup; the Sox won it in 05; the Bulls had the Jordan dynasty. it's crazy. Now the Cubs -- WS champs. It's going to be tough to stomach.

Look, it's very simple, University presidents, athletic directors, coaches. If a student comes forward with rape allegations against an athlete you just have to hold the athlete out of competition and work with police to expedite charges/formal proceedings for expulsion. How many cases have there been where the alleged victim just makes this stuff up? My guess is not too many. Why would a woman go to police, show her bruises on her neck, go through rape kit if it weren't true? I agree innocent til proven guilty but folks if an athlete gets caught up in a situation where there are allegations, it's sad if he's innocent but he has to be held out of competition at the bare minimum til the law sorts everything out. This is horrifying to me Watch the woman's press conference http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/14/us/unc-rape-...ions/index.html

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 12:27 AM) See all the multiple options Lincoln looked at first for dealing with the slavery issue, including sending slaves back to Africa... I read about it after your post. Amazing that Mr. Lincoln did indeed meet with former slaves asking if they'd move to Africa saying the two races will never get along.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 06:31 AM) That particular email has Google hits back to July, not really seeing any Google news links with anything all that negative right now? I think by now most Americans believe Hillary is a liar and crooked. I just think most poor to lower middle class for some reason believe the Democrats will help put some money in their pockets (which I kinda think is a fallacy), and women overwhemingly hate Trump, thus you've got a lot of people overwhelmingly picking Hillary as the best of two evils. That's it in a nutshell, right? No hate on greg here, just tell me I'm right in my assessment. Thanx.
