  1. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) A lisfranc fracture is a really bad one. It's in the metatarsals near the ankle. I would doubt it's that from the description but it's possible. Does this mean his foot would have soon been injured with use? Had he stayed in the minors was the injury imminent?
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Get rid of Lawrie? What in the actual f***? LOL#HotTake I just want Saladino in the lineup. I don't despise Lawrie, but Saladino can't play outfield. Frazier or Davidson at third, the other one DH; Anderson at short, Saladino at second and Abreu at first. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) This move is a bit of desperation .. Davidson at his best will come up at hit ...240 and provide some power. Any extended stay and he'll be absolutely Hopefully h'll hit like 3 dingers this week.. much rather see May .240 isn't bad nowadays. Isn't baseball just full of .240 to .260 hitters in the post steroid era?
  3. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 03:34 PM) Well I was at the game yesterday and had a clear view into the broadcast booth and something I saw there was very telling. If you've ever seen it, when it's Hawk and Stone... they are literally sitting at opposite ends of the booth. They literally could not be farther apart physically. I found that so odd the first time I saw it, because I thought broadcast teams sit somewhat close to each other. When I looked in the booth yesterday with Jason/Stone, I was shocked to see them pretty much sitting right next to each other. They were even talking and laughing between innings. I think that says a lot. Wow that is huge if true. I've noticed Hawk and Stoney are as far apart as possible as you said.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 06:12 AM) Reminiscent of the infamous Jose Paniagua game against the Twins in 2003. (That was the last game that particular season we beat them, if memory serves correctly.) I really thought former Sox prospect Escobar (who kills us usually) was going to drill a line drive just barely over the fence and tie it up...well, just because we lived through the same or similar outcomes in Texas and against the Royals that three game set with 3 blown leads, including the HUGE lead in the 9th. Actually, pretty sure 90% of Sox fans had already moved on to other things and were shocked to see how close it came to actually being a tie game there in the 9th despite a 9-1 lead. When Jennings hit that batter on a crap breaking ball all bets were off and I thought we might lose. Fans were standing cheering for the final out and little did they know it almost never came. Disgraceful ending.
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) They are interns man, how did a manager not say to them once "hey you know what, I hear what you are saying but we have our dress code because we are client facing and feel it's important to always be business professional [or whatever reason]. For the rest of the summer I want you to focus on x, y, and z. If you really feel passionate about this, come up with a 5 minute presentation on why we should change and be ready to present in front of me and a few colleagues, if we deem it good enough we may move it up the corporate ladder. But this work should be done only after x, y and z are completed or unaffected." Sounds like a terrible company from top to bottom, elitist, entitled managers who agreed to take on interns but didnt put in the effort to help lead them to success and decided to take the lazy way out by just firing them, hurting their company image for future interns. I normally would cut the interns some slack, but again, I do not like the petition and the signing of it by people. This is pretty strong insubordination. They didn't even ask around enough to know the person with the flats had no fricking leg. I remember once some busybody worker tried to get a petition going and I not only did not sign it I warned people I liked at the company to NOT go there. Signing these petitions doesn't work cause eventually the petition which is easy to write up and pass around turns into a MEETING with real people and real voices not a piece of paper. No boss is gonna grab the petition and go, "Great idea! Pepole we will implement your suggestions now." No ... they wanna talk to the ringleaders of the petition! I just think these interns deserved the boot. Now had they gone person to person to a manager to discuss a "concern" or a "policy" I'd have more respect for the Millenial.
  6. OK get rid of Lawrie and it'll be Davidson at third, Anderson at short, Saladino at second and Frazier DH. That's a start. Saladino and Davidson and Anderson have a fighting chance.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 03:31 AM) I read an article yesterday that said quite the opposite. Shuck said that the early April energy is back and players are as loose as they were then Man I don't see it in their play. Shields pitching better will probably help in that regard a bit, but ...
  8. our team mindset is not a good one. We definitely lost all swagger that we had early early early on.
  9. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 04:22 AM) Been saying it for awhile. Just rebuild and get great young impact prospects. Even many of our victories conclude with a "what the f*** was that?" walk to the car.
  10. That was kind of embarrassing ninth inning. Please folks, it's time to sell. I've seen what contenders look like. Soxtalk.com people ... This is no contender.
  11. Last year was crazy. After acting like a contender at the deadline, the team promptly went in the tank, as if on cue. Nothing like a hit batsman with the fans on their feet cheering for the final out. Horrible pitch.
  12. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 03:00 AM) At 2 1/2 out you don't give up I think you have to give up cause we're not a playoff team. I'd at least get rid of Lawrie soon so Saladino can play every day. Call up Davidson see what he's got.
  13. I wonder if that had an effect on the Over in Vegas?
  14. Sox are .500 again. If it wasn't for the weird way they've gotten there (23-10 followed by 10-23) Robin would be beloved.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 03:52 AM) Lol they pulled purse after 2 batters. And that's the last you'll ever see of him. Purse must be purged from the roster asap.
  16. Saladino is an MLB caliber hitter. Time to play him EVERYDAY! Look at the spark he gives the team.
  17. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Not really. If you don't want to take an unpaid internship in exchange for real world work experience which looks nice on a resume...there is this insane idea I have: DON'T TAKE IT. I'm surprised you don't see anything wrong with putting people to work, benefitting from them and not paying them anything. A lot of companies used to expect to pay 1-2 interns a summer, but then jumped for joy when colleges came up with this plan to give a couple hours credit for work. To me, it's just more of what America has become. Not many opportunities to make $$$ for the little guy.
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) The petition was most certainly the wrong call. They obviously made a mistake but I definitely think the company probably should have explained to them why it was inappropriate rather than firing them. They are f***ing kids FFS. Thing is the petition thing is pretty juvenile. Again ... those things never work. Every once in a while somebody thinks it's a good idea to pass around a protest and have everybody sign it, then you deliver it to management and wait for the bombs to fall. It's like "you had time to organize this protest when you could have been working?" Etc. This did scream entitlement though, the workers comparing one person's footwear to another. All in all probably a good idea to get rid of them all.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) I still disagree. Why should the company lose money to take college students on internships? From our view, many of the hospitals couldn't afford to take them if they had to pay them as well. The company should lose money because it is putting them to work. If it's just the interns observing, fine, college credit is OK. But many companies have them doing work. It's really not classy to make people work for free even if they get a couple credit hours. I remember summer jobs were important to me when I was in school. It was a way to make spending money at college and gas money, etc., since my parents paid the big three - tuition, books and room and board. I also had internships in which I did get paid. One summer I stayed in my campus town and worked for a company 20 minutes away in my field but got paid.
  20. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) GREG!!!!! This post is for you, since i recall on at least ore than one occasion you (and me as well) have complained about our youth of today. I actually laughed after reading this. Welcome to the real world, Class of 2017! http://www.askamanager.org/2016/06/i-was-f...dress-code.html I really love this line from her letter" We were shocked. The proposal was written professionally like examples I have learned about in school, and our arguments were thought out and well-reasoned. We weren’t even given a chance to discuss it Thanks. It's almost like they thought they were at a college where they could issue a protest. Kind of a stupid story but I agree with you that it's funny. Never a good idea to write out a protest and sign it. That stuff doesn't work well in the workplace.
  21. Somebody put he has cerebral palsy. Does he use a cane? I really respect him after reading his bio. Must be a special guy.
  22. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:54 AM) Killed whatever trade value he might have had. Dude should honestly start looking for another career. He is not going to make it in the show. What is Brian Anderson doing now? Seriously. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:54 AM) You characters are like a comedy routine. This team is 38-38 and if playing a board game or fantasy baseball would Have been torn apart at least 38 times already cause that's how we build a winner you know El Rockin, the Sox are 38-38 which actually wouldn't be that bad if not for the way they've gone about being 38-39. Patsies to the Central, lousy at home again, going 23-10 and basically ending the season shortly after. Can u imagine attending tonight's game? It must be a morgue in the Cell. Except for the great food and beer my god I call it agony. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:57 AM) We were due to lose to Minnesota just awful that they're gona be shut out I don't buy the "due to lose" thing considering all the losing we've done against the Central. Lot of ground to make up.
  23. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:51 AM) He can't be that bad after what he accomplished in high minors. Probably pressing. He'll get sent down and who knows, might get it together and be a solid player. He seems like a good prospect but I loved Brian Anderson at one point as well.
  24. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:49 AM) Is this the real White Sox team? I never wanted to believe it, but I think what we see tonight is ultimately what we get. How do you lose 4-0 to the worst team in baseball, against a starter who is 0-5 with an ERA over 6? How is one of your best hitters hitting under.200? I had so much faith in this team, but after tonight, that faith really is gone. I am so tired of seeing someone get on base and the next two or three hitters doing nothing to get the guy in. So awful. I've said it before the guys do not care. White Sox players not named Sale count their money while not getting down and dirty. If they cared you damn well believe they'd do something about this Quintana thing. They'd be fired up the entire f***ing game trying to get him some runs. I despise the Royals but at least them seemingly care from their heckling of other teams in the dugout to their bulls*** soaking each other in gatorade after every win. The Sox are too cool for their own good (except for Sale).
