QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2016 -> 02:30 AM) Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe passed away yesterday. Age 88. Rest in peace, Gordie Howe. One of the true stars and true phenoms in hockey. In fact, likely the GREATEST of all time. Gretzky I guess was better and Bobby Hull was right up there. I enjoy reading and hearing the stories. The story Stan Mikita recalled several years ago was amazing. When he was a rookie he accidentally cut Howe with his stick blade and Howe said something to him and Mikita told him he was an old has-been and to f*** off. In the locker room, a former Howe teammate with the Blackhawks told Mikita, "You probably shouldn't have done that." Mikita said: "I didn't mean to cut him." The teammate said, "No I mean you probably shouldnt have said that stuff to him." Howe had a ways of getting even so months later in a game Mikita was skating near mid ice and the next thing he remembers is sitting on the Red Wings bench. They kick him off the bench and he goes to the Hawks bench disoriented. Mikita doesn't know if Howe elbowed him or punched him and nobody else does either. Nobody saw whatever happened, but Howe clocked him. Mikita laughed about it in telling the story. Of course this story now is not so funny as when Mikita related it as Mikita apparently has dementia and no recollection of his being a hockey player at all. Very sad.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) Christina Grimmie of The Voice and YouTube fame got shot and killed after her concert last night. She was only 22. Sad stuff. This is just horrible! Thank you to the brother of the shooter who tackled him before he could kill others. f***ing loser gunman. These incidents are just heartbreaking. Can you imagine how on top of the world this 22 year old singer was after winning the Voice and getting her career started? Then some dumbf*** is probably jealous that he's such a loser and f***ing kills her.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/clinton-don...ory?id=39710624 This is HUGE news!!! Why doesn't anybody care?? Hopefully ABC will keep pushing it since they got the scoop. THEY WERE GOING TO ARREST THE REPORTER FOR ASKING QUESTIONS!!! You think Trump is dangerous? What about Hillary?? She is dangerous to our freedoms as well.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 06:06 AM) http://www.kake.com/story/32193712/poll-ka...-many-undecided Clinton leads 43-36 in Kansas according to this poll. Now, I'll be shocked if it turns blue, but it's still amazing you could find any sample of Kansas to break that way. That poll group has outed itself as being unreliable, then. This godforsaken state will NEVER again vote Democrat. These rubes re-elected Brownback!!! EVERYBODY hates Brownback, even the people who voted for him just cause he has R next to his name on the ballot. He'd win re-election tomorrow if he ran because these rubes can't vote for anybody but a Republican. There's no way this state will vote for Hillary. She'd be a fool to waste one moment campaigning anywhere near here. Not jumping on the messenger. It is interesting poll, but that poll is FLAWED obviously. p.s. During the governor election, one big newspaper out here had an editorial where the owner backed Brownback. I kid you not. The reasoning in the article backing Brownback was something like this, I paraphrase: "He didn't mean to do a poor job the first time around. Surely he'll do better for the people of Kansas during his next term." How do these people who punch R or D live with themselves? I told you, I'm an R but I voted for Obama. I get the feeling some of you will vote for Hillary only because of that D by her name. If so that is shameful. Hillary and Trump both suck equally. Vote for somebody else for gawdsakes people!

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) Amderson's swing kind of reminds me Alfonso Soriano, although I think Soriano was closed. That's it. that's the swing. Soriano did OK til he got older so maybe Anderson will be OK. it's a bit loopy though and the bat is sooo big I have my real doubts. I would expect he'll be a K machine.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 11:01 PM) If you don't think they care, why should you? Cause I'm a fan. Cause Royals fans here mock me because I root for such a pathetic baseball team owned by the KC team. Please Ventura, tell your team: NO MORE BUNTING EVER. They cannot bunt. Even though we rarely score no matter what we do at the plate, at least eliminate bunting. Guys cannot do it so tell them NEVER do it. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 09:12 PM) Something I've observed is college grads feeling very much confined by the things they studied in school when they look for work. You can use college to learn a trade or specific set of skills/knowledge that translates clearly into a career field, but you don't have to. But if you do take a route in your studies that doesn't automatically qualify you for some specific profession, you have to disavow yourself of the notion that you need to find work in your major field. You can do a lot of things with a degree in philosophy, but you probably won't work in philosophy. But you should have learned to be a thoughtful, critical, and communicative enough person that you can go into an organization and really prove your worth. I see many of my peers feeling trapped by their degrees, but the vast majority of jobs out there aren't looking for a specific college major, but they do care about whether you could graduate from a reputable college. My older sister graduated from college with a degree in English, loved her experience, and felt that it made her more prepared for the working world. What did end up doing for a living? Being a regional supervisor for a home furnishings chain. Indeed, they didn't have classes in that, but she got herself a job and started looking for ways to move up the food chain. That's not to say everyone will manage to do this or that finding a job is easy, but you do have to broaden your horizons a bit. Another challenge I tend to see people facing is geography. If you live where your parents live, that might not be where the jobs are. If I moved in with mine, I might be able to use the fact I know people in town to find decent work, but it would be far from a guarantee...it's a place where the number of jobs is going down, not up. For a lot of people, that might be the sneaky problem with having to move back in with family. Good post! I do think college grads should stick around the town in which they graduated in looking for that first job. Cause just like you said going back home you have zero connections. At least if you 'bug' the university enough they might help you actually find a job. Your counselor or higher ups at the school of business if you graduated in business, the school of religion if you graduated in religion, etc., might help. You go home and you might quickly get stuck in your high school rut and wind up bagging groceries at Jewel til u find a real job. Weeks turn into months, months into a year and you are f***ed.

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) It's still wrong. If you work you should get reimbursed. Unpaid internships are garbage. Exactly. Any business owner who employs college students or anybody for that matter and does not pay them a cent under the wink, wink guise of an internship should be thrown in jail. If I were an employer I would feel like the cheapest bastard alive. It in un-American. It is a fricking travesty. Our country should be ashamed of itself. Unpaid internships. I would LOVE to get one of the owners on the phone and give them a piece of my mind over this abhorrent practice!!! It is the American dream to work and be paid for the f***ing work not have the employer get free work out of somebody under the pretence of academia!!!!

I hope Anderson doesn't let this lousy team affect his mindset. It must be tough coming from the minors where guys are fighting to make the bigs to come to a clubhouse like the go-through-the-motions White Sox. Hope he's smart enough to just shut up and wait til he can become a leader.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 08:54 PM) It's a disaster and they don't care. That's obvious. 2-6 against KC after last year's laughable 5-14 or whatever it was 7-12 or whatever with the wins meaningless ones in September. All those Royals fans in our own stadium acting like fat assholes with their world series towels? f*** them and shame on the Sox for not caring. Disgraceful to be paid that much and mail it in on a hot day again. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Or he'll throw randomly at someone for no reason. Win the series tomorrow and finally they'e back in a groove of winning series. Huge difference. Serious question. After watching the game do you honestly think they care about winning series? These guys show up to get a paycheck. They have every reason to want to kick KC's ass and they look like the deadest team in America. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) Sox continue to be KC little b**** in every way possible, I am sure KC will win Sunday with a Ventura masterpiece. I feel bad for people who wasted time and money going to watch this s***. Of course they will. Sox got their one win over KC. That's the mojo. No matter how they got embarrassed in Kauffman Stadium, one max is all they gonna ever get in the Cell. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) This team has a mental block in the division and it starts with the man in charge of these men. FIRE HIM NOW. The Sox don't compete. They show up. There is a big difference. KC competes every day, even moreso vs. the White Sox. They don't mind acting like they care against divisional rivals. Sox are too cool to compete. -

Last night's game had the feel of a law of averages win, one of the 60 you get just for showing up. We remain KC's whipping boys. Laughingstocks. No pride at all vs. a divisional opponent. -

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) You mean that horses*** team that was just a .5 game back from the Sox coming into the day? Get a grip. Neither team is very good but the entire division isn't very good. They'd lost eight in a row; they can't hit the long ball at all and hit six in two days. Their pitching staff blows. Duffy looked like Cy Young. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 11, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) Jezuz Crist, it's one f***ing game You missed my post asking the coaches on here to analyze his swing and bat. You can see a minor league game and not have to watch Team Dysfunction in action. I'm still waiting on an analysis of Anderson's swing/approach. I'm concerned. Big bat, big swing equals disaster when you are a skinny guy. -
