  1. Just read the FBI director will likely resign in protest if Obama and/or the justice department refuse to allow charges to be filed against Hillary. To the people who think Trump will be a dictator ... isn't the Democratic party taking on that role, laughing inside as they know damn well Obama won't allow Hillary to stand trial nor will the justice department. Hopefully the FBI director will at least resign in protest. Here's the link. I'm ready for the response of Hillary supporters ... the national review should never have stories linked ... you can't believe the national review ... what the hell kind of website is that anyway?? I just want justice to be served. If Hillary is off the hook, at least let the others out of prison who have been convicted of security-related breach crimes. Let them out as well!! If we truly don't care that people breach our security then let's truly not care and please let everybody out of jail convicted of such crimes. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/4303...-resign-protest
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) What I don't get is how Trump barely even registered as a blip on the radar screen in the race four years ago. Basically, the economy, in terms of unemployment or the stock market, has been trending upwards. Obama's got the highest approval ratings he's had in at least 3 years. If I had to guess, I'd say one element of it is the backlash that started with Ferguson, Trayvon Martin/Zimmerman, the South Carolina church shooting, BLM, political correctness on college campuses...mixed in with the gun rights/self protection issue. Or the situation out in Oregon with the occupation of federal lands. Just seems like one polarizing event after another fanning the flames. Observing from afar, every day brings something new. Staging rallies at sites that you pretty much have to know you'll cancel ahead of time to score political points. Secret Service officers in 1960's mode. Members of his own party like Rubio and Kasish openly talking about not supporting the nominee due to the toxic environment that has been created. Nazi salutes? It might work to strengthen his current base of support, but he's playing with fire and at some point...lives will be lost. Maybe he's secretly hoping for that, although I would hate to think so poorly of any human being. It's getting to the point where implausible television programs like Scandal and House of Cards are getting outdone by reality. What fiction writer could come up with this stuff on a daily basis? It's getting pretty ridiculous when China can be ALMOST on a moral high ground pointing out the hypocrisy for condemnation of Chinese human rights violations by the US compared with what has been going on in the US the last 9-10 months since Trump took over the race. Great post but I have two counter points. 1.) Obama's approval rating always goes up as election time approaches. The media is so pro Democrat it's hard to fathom. And suddenly Obama is the greatest thing ever til the Democratic candidate is declared the winner. Then some negativity can creep into coverage when it means nothing. The media's portrayal of Obama as great around election time can't help but help him with the public who tell the pollsters they love the job he's doing. It's calculated IMO and works well for the Democrats and Obama. 2.) You make good points about Trump but people also like him because they are SICK of politics and also political correctness. Granted his supporters are out of control now but to some of us, the thought of Hillary screaming at me on TV for 8 years followed by 8 more of Chelsea is enough to make us puke. Study Chelsea's resume. It's impressive. All she needs is a good job under Hillary during the second term and she's in the money IMO. She ought to rush through a law degree as well, but she has a very impressive resume already. She's got 8 years to get the law degree if she wants one.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 01:41 AM) According to the KC Star, freshmen enrollment at Mizzou is down 1,500 students. Upperclassmen are transferring in droves. Teachers won't see any raises this year. They cant fill teacher openings and it sounds like they expect teachers to leave. Discussing shutting down programs thanks to this mess. A 32 million dollar budget deficit, up to 25 of which is directly attributed to the protests. It's greatly helped UMKC though. http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-go...le65306097.html Serious stuff, but understandable. Missouri did such a poor job handling that mess. First the football coach backs the team, when the team actually got duped. The guy who was on the hunger strike, whom Pinkel thought was a real student who was starving himself to death in protest, turned out to be a professional activist. So the football team gets brought into it, which had to anger a lot of rich (white) alums. You know it did anger them. That's obvious. Then the student issue. Remember the incident in which kids were in the library studying and the radical activists were going in there yelling at them and telling them to march. Then a few went out to march and got their heads bit off at the march as well. Who needs it? College is tough enough. It takes amazing leadership to combat these protestors, that is for sure.
  4. Bernie should be proud he won a state like Michigan. Nice W by Bernie up there. p.s. I just watched Bernie's town hall meeting. As much as I despise Hillary, that's how much I like Bernie. I could see voting for him which amazingly would be my second Democratic vote in a row. Yes I voted for Obama over the creep, Romney.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) How come Trump supporters don't care about his alleged Trumpism? Okay, I made that up. Seriously, Hillary did something wrong and even referred to it in some emails. I agree that there are issues there, but I'm tired of all of the propoganda on both sides. The liberal media this or blah blah blah. At some point, are the parties going to start working with each other to actually solve issues instead of stand on pedestals and spew nonsense. I watched the democratic debate (I don't know if it was live or what, but was on CNN late last night) and I was like, oh, maybe my alternative choice to Trump isn't so great, maybe I'm better to stick to my write-in approach. The pandering on the liberal side is just crazy to me...I honestly can't believe some of the rheteroic just to ensure you get a vote, but than I watch the righties and they clearly do it too...Trump has mastered it with all of his theatrics. Whole thing is disagraceful in my eyes and I'd like to consider myself a pretty open minded and moderate conservative. But there in lies the problem...that doesn't fly in the "conservative" movement anymore. Everyone is on theory and no one is willing to get anything actually done. I hear it all the time from my old man...liberal media wants you to believe...like hell, I might be a sucker, okay, I am like everyone else in this planet, to some extent a sucker, but I can listen to people talk and I come up to my own conclusions (rational or irrational...rational to me, who the hell knows what someone else thinks) but I have never shook my head more at the state of everything. From the left wanting to hand and promise so many things that are impossible to do to the right who wants to veto every single thing that happened in the past 7 years for some principal. I don't give a f*** about what your going to veto, tell me what you are going to fix, tell me you are going to reach across the aisle and accomplish something. The only people who lose on this war on rhetoric is....you guessed it...the people. None of us win in this game between the right and the left. A healthy balance is critical. Makes you want to re-write the constitution to create some form of an amendment to the bill of rights or something that would somehow help / force parties to work together or something. Excellent post. You should send it to CNN or somebody. It's a great state of America today and they should read it on TV. We're all fed up and that's why many of us want somebody new like Trump or Bernie. Yes an actor like Ronald Reagan. Somebody! QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 11:58 PM) please stop linking to garbage sites like Investors Business Daily in this thread thanks in advance! What's wrong with that website? Is it that unreliable?
  6. Which Chicago suburb would be best from a traffic standpoint? I'd say the two contenders are Naperville and Schaumberg. Which one is easier to get to?
  7. If the Sox and Cubs are in the same division and have to play 20 times a year I also might be done with baseball. The way they schedule now is bad enough. Sox vs. Minnesota 19 times? And Cleveland? So boring.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 09:42 PM) hey y'all, greg doesnt like Hillary. FYI How come Hillary supporters don't care about her alleged crimes and won't comment on my posts except to point out my disdain for Hillary? That's all I want to know. There are laws in society prohibiting government officials for putting classified information on their private email accounts. People's lives are at stake. If she gets off the hook then please, at least, pardon all those currently in prison for the same activity. Yes, I will shut up if all who are in prison are released for the same activity. I also don't like Hillary's defense in all this. She just says "I didn't do that." "I'd never do that." "This is a partisan witch hunt." Hopefully she'll have to go to trial where those answers won't be good enough.
  9. To the attorneys on here ... how is Hillary not in jail over this latest report by the Washington Post? https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/cli...e7df_story.html This is no partisan witch hunt folks. Get used to Bernie time. For Bernie is waiting in the wings if jail comes calling http://www.investors.com/politics/editoria...e-just-blew-up/ p.s. Please read the last part of the article ... It says, "Under the law, gross negligence in handling classified material is all that’s required for a government official to face criminal charges. At this point, is there anyone who can honestly say that Clinton wasn’t being grossly negligent?" I ask you: I know some want Hillary to be president as part of a lifetime achievement award. They want her in there because she it's her turn. But at some point in most baseball seasons when you realize your team is not good enough to win, you finally give up. Why can't America "give up" on Hillary and realize what she did was criminal? If somebody does what she did she must pay. All I ask is she be prosecuted like anybody else in government who does what she did.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 01:03 AM) I thought David Gergen made a really great point in regards to the Bernie Sanders thing...actually it was in response to both candidates sort of flubbing the issue. Ultimately, these are two very well-meaning people who have done a lot to help minorities, but are struggling with how to navigate the minefield that is being a white presidential candidate discussing race relations. So Bernie should have said "White people don't understand what it is like to live in poor black neighborhoods" instead of "ghetto." Cut them a little slack already. I agree, cut 'em slack. I guess the media has always tried for "gotcha" moments in campaigns. This is not new. But it's kind of amusing that's part of our political process. Every time these guys speak, the reporters' challenge is to monitor every word and nail them to the wall if possible. It's kinda funny. Again I realize this is nothing new. Zinger comments in debates, etc., through the years.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) I really don't see the point in cutting LaRoche. It's not like the guy hasn't produced in years, hell his numbers were looking fine almost two and a half months into the season last year (batting line of .246/.362/.422 on June 10th). It's not like the alternatives are looking a lot better right now, give him 6 weeks against RHP to see if he has a bounceback in him. I'm more confident in him at DH against RHP than I would be with Avi there full-time. Should LaRoche EVER bat against a lefty again? Will fans turn on Robin if LaRoche faces lefties?
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 12:22 PM) Nobody cares. My hope is the FBI isn't in the business of wasting its time and it recommends formal charges. Then if Obama throws out the case or the attorney general won't prosecute they are given hell by Congress. Ideally she will have to be replaced as candidate cause nobody wants impeachment. That would not be good for the country.
  13. I know you won't believe me, but I like to ask people in an objective tone IN PERSON what they think of Hillary. I don't pre-judge or lead into it by saying I despise her and can't watch her on TV cause of her voice/yelling. I just ask without tipping my hand on my feelings toward her til later in the discussion. Today two more people went on long rants about how she is a liar and should be in big legal trouble over the email thing. I told these 2 people that nobody seems to care about the email thing and they were adamant and got very upset that they indeed care and it will ultimately bring Hillary down. We shall see.
  14. First move in a long time I like. He's played in the AL before is a big plus for me compared to some of the NL guys we've acquired. I've studied his stats and won't be a Debbie Downer pointing out some of the offensive stats. I just like the signing overall, especially compared to so many of the other moves the team has made. I think I'll buy MLB.com now as with the mixing and matching I would "think" the team would be able to play close to .500 ball at the worse and if everything clicks, might have a good team. Any quotes come out yet from Robin? Starting cf from day one with Eaton starting in right and Avi sharing DH with LaRoche as well as LaRoche once in a while playing first?
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) Fascinating. Where do you get your information? It's generally known prisoners want to take out scumbags who kill innocent people. Think of how many women he killed, maybe children too. Prisoners want those guys. Didn't Gacy get killed in jail? Or beaten? Dahmer got killed in jail I believe.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) We should. Trump is feeding whatever BS possible to get into the white house. Now part of me feels good about that, cause if he was serious about half the stuff he said and somehow got elected, we'd be screwed. But it is also just shameful...beyond typical political games. I thought Kasich was fine (actually got more air time than Rubio), but he's not electric. That said, I don't think he has to be, he's the best candidate on either party to make this country better. That doesn't seem to matter though. Experience (check), track record (check), ability to enact change and work with others (check). I was surprised, but I didn't really have any issues with anything Cruz did (and normally I did). I suppose I'm warming up a bit to him. What I'd give for Kasich to take Ohio and get some momentum and win a few states and get this thing to a brokered convention. Kasich is so much more open and funny and engaging as a radio media analyst. He's blown it big time by being very very boring in the debates, etc. People snicker at me for talking about Hillary's annoying, loud, screaming whenever she speaks publicly, but this stuff matters. Kasich is too soft spoken and boring for the general public in 2016. Sad cause he is great.
  17. When you are hurting, baseball can't be that much fun. Wonder if he'll retire or if the $$$ is too much to turn away from.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) One reason why acquiring another bat is so important: Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 18m18 minutes ago Adam LaRoche exited the game earlier this inning with back spasms. #WhiteSox What about giving Davidson a chance?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) You are actually for the abuse and murder of prisoners. That is my point. After what this guy did I think it's funny he took six good punches yes. He coulda fought back. He's never getting out for good behavior
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 11:40 PM) So no one on the outside could contact someone on the inside to do it for them... I'm saying the odds of inmates knowing Holmes is in their prison are 100 percent. And yes, the inmates all will want to kill him. As far as outsiders ... like I said they aren't going to be allowed in. What is your point? Obviously a.) ALL inmates will know Holmes is among them. And b.) yes a good majority will want to kill him. Are you actually against the victims' families getting to know where the perpetrator is being housed?? That's kind of insensitive IMO.
  21. How the hell can they prove it was indeed found on OJ's property?
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) Do you think it will be one of the 4 remaining candidates, or will it be someone not currently in the race. If it isn't someone in the race, who do you think it will be? Romney, Jeb, Paul Ryan? Personally, I think if they end up brokered, Kasich is the only standing who I think would have a chance and even than, I'm thinking it will be as the VP (I actually think he would be very high up on Trump's list, to be frank). I will point out, Kasich was on O'Reilly after the debate and very firmly said he is not interested in being the VP (how true that is, who knows). My prediction is if it goes to a brokered convention, it will be Paul Ryan. Kasich was on a radio show today and was emphatic he will refuse to be anybody's vice president. I can't imagine him being that forceful if he planned on being a VEEP. The host said "I think you will" and Kasich said there is no chance of that.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 05:47 PM) So today's scandal is that Hillary paid herself 250,000 in campaign funds. No other candidate did so. Does anyone care? I do. I was talking to some 20 somethings yesterday at an event in Lawrence and asked them what they thought of the election. Of course I asked about Hillary and you should see their response. I don't know if all young people hate other people's grandmothers or something but they immediately burst out saying how much they despise Hillary. She's going to have to accept the fact young people are not in her corner for whatever reason.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) Why exactly would he get exposed? All he has is a track record of success (every where he's went)? Because he's boring and cerebral? Is that why he'd be exposed? Or are you referring to how aggressive he has been in the past to get things done (that ended up being pretty successful)? Dude knows policy well and is actually relatively moderate. Exactly. Chisoxfan speaks the truth ... again. Kasich should be the Republicans' choice. Give him a great vice president candidate, the most qualified young woman who could be the Republicans' next presidential candidate, and that party would be set to challenge Hillary.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 10:43 PM) So someone knows where he is at, beats the s*** out of him, but he is protected from being attacked if people know where he is at. That might the dumbest thing I have seen you post. An inmate beat the piss out of him. A gate was open for a second and the inmate got through. s*** happens. Somebody in the regular public isn't going to bust into the jail and pummel him. Cmon, you are not naive regarding inmates knowing who the famous inmates are. Every inmate is going to know it's Holmes in their prison. And like Gacy, of course he's targeted. Yes he's "protected" from some member of the public coming in and killing or beating him. That won't ever happen. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 10:48 PM) I still don't understand why anyone would care where he's at. Have you guys never known a victim? The family of the lowlife who murdered my friend always wants to know where the killer is being housed, what kind of accomdations he has, whether he's had any escape attempts, disciplinary actions, etc. All that is public record and available. The public has a right to know where murderers are being held. Some people have nightmares wondering if the murderer gets out he'll come after them. They need to know where he's being held.
