  1. QUOTE (juddling @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) Hillary Clinton had a department store on Fifth Avenue closed down so she could get a $600 haircut, or as she calls it, relating to the middle class I saw a beautiful red car parked downtown tonight and a big Hillary bumper sticker on it. I really wanted the person to approach their car so I could calmly ask them why in the hell they'd put a Hillary bumper sticker on their car. It just said "Hillary" so obviously Hillary's camp is going for the "first female president" vote.
  2. Cespedes gets traded a lot. Is he a good guy or team chemistry liability?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) Pedro Alvarez is going to be available if the Pirates get an Adam Lind type for 1B...that position's been something of a black hole for Pittsburgh the last couple of seasons. But does he hit lefties? Is he a lousy fielder at third? We need that defense we've been getting from Saladino. Can Alvarez play D? If not, pass.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/probabili...sp?ymd=20150730 Post season odds right now at 8.7%, but still behind the Tigers (obviously the BP predictor doesn't take into account Price/Soria no longer being on the roster) It's amazing those odds are so low with a rotation of Sale/Shark/Q and Rodon and a closer like Robertson and improved defense now. I'm assuming the oddsmakers are not assuming we're now going to lose six in a row to drop to that comfortable (for the players) eight under .500 again. Damn, I'm really hoping Sox can compete and not go streaky in the opposite direction again after today's rare loss. Please White Sox, come to compete and play to your ability in August!
  5. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:07 AM) I would not trade Beckham for Sandoval. LOL: Five years, 95 million total. Club option in 2020 for another 17 million. He's hitting .262 with eight homers and 34 RBI. Yet another example of a guy fans/teams celebrated signing and now are desperate to get rid of and drop the salary. My favorite sport of baseball is run by idiots. 17 million a year for that guy. Amazing.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:55 AM) Can't find the tweet, but I vaguely remember one of the beat writers saying we had done it sometime in the 50s Damn, for this team that would have been a nice one to have. That's 60 years ago!
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:03 AM) It's a lot better than it was. And they had a lead on us even with that meh pitching. And they added Tulo. Toronto clearly is a Wildcard favorite right now. Sox will have to continue to play amazing baseball to outlast Baltimore and Toronto. I'm not a believer in Minnie. Houston could be a team that completely goes in the tank in Aug/September though.
  8. Can somebody ask one of the Sox beat writers on Twitter this question or give me the answer? If Sox would have won tonight, they would have swept two straight four-game series. My question is: Would that have been the first time in Sox history the team has won two straight four-game series on the road? Or won two four-game series anywhere consecutively? It's not mathematically easy to win a four-game series. I'm thinking had they won tonight it may have been a first in franchise history. There aren't a lot of four-game series to begin with and I somehow doubt Sox have won two straight four-game series on the road since probably the 50s or 60s or even before that.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) 14.5 million wasted. Nobody knew he was going to get hurt. You give a pitcher a lot of money you will get burned. Look at Detroit. They paid Price 19.75 mill this season and was DYING to get rid of him. Blame baseball owners and GMS; why blame Danks. He f***ing got hurt. If the Sox sign Shark you'll be just as mad at him when he gets hurt with his 18-20 mill dollar contract. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:36 AM) Sox will still be under .500 even taking 2 of 3. Sox need to win and do it in bunches Yes but it's a process. Just keep winning series and go on another 7 of 8 run at some point and Sox figure to be OK, unless some of the better teams play to their potential and pull away (o's, blue jays, rangers).
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:24 AM) I dont mind giving the Tigers one of our pitchers not named Montas from the minors for Cespedes. That's a healthy infusion of power. Thing is, Tigers sent us Avi and he's not special. Now if they trade us Cespedes that means they think he's lousy as well.
  11. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:19 AM) I work out with people who went to high school with him. He pops up as a recommended friend on Facebook. He's on the walls of multiple restaurants in town. I want him to be good, but I'm really concerned he's not. Nice post. I approve. Root for Johnny Danks, people! He's an easy guy to root for. Who gives a flip about his contract? Not me. You shouldn't either. Price of beer ain't going down even if we lose Danks' salary.
  12. LaRoche is a mess. His stroke is late and lousy. He reminds me of AJP at the plate when AJ is struggling. I wish we could cut bait on him. Even Micah as DH would be better if we can't acquire a slugger. If we could swap Alvarez for him I'd be so happy. No way Pirates would do that, though.
  13. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:18 AM) This. Johnny is done. I won't pester the Danks haters with post after post defending him. I'll just say he's been good in 5 of his last 10 starts, some against powerhouse teams. Five of 10 is not bad for a No. 5 starter coming back from serious injury still.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:14 AM) Of all people to say that too, Greg is probably the worst He knows I love Danks. He was issuing a little barb at me. No biggie. I am a Danks lover.
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:14 AM) I'd pitch Danks. That would be funny. Same outcome more than likely. I've noticed you really despise Danks. But in five of the last 10 outings that he's excelled in, you are silent when I brag about my boy, Danks. Don't be a Danks hater! He will prove u wrong ultimately.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:13 AM) 9-2 last night and 9-4 the previous He was joking. Fathom doesn't use the green.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:11 AM) Ball game. Let Albers wear this inning If they get up by 10, I'd pitch Beckham for team morale. Funny moment for the flight home.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:09 AM) Getting a deal done for a bat would be a nice shot in the arm after tonight. Amen. The Royals lost with their new bat tonight, though. I wish we could add a third baseman with some pop, but I guess there are none out there. Or be able to get a HR hitting DH and bench LaRoche.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:08 AM) The key is to just get back on the horse tomorrow. You ain't kidding. Damn, I want them to win the next series and prove this latest streak doesn't have to be followed by another s*** streak.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:03 AM) I'm guessing sale with DL stint. Forearm soreness Another reason you just can't pay big bucks for pitchers nowadays. 20 to 25 million a year for any pitcher? Cmon. The pitcher can go down at any time. Good luck to whomever wants to pay Shark 20 mill a year next year and the 3 after that. Not his fault, but he's bound to go down at some point in his next contract.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) .500 is so f***ing elusive. That's what is disappointing Very disappointing. But like I said you can't sweep two straight four game series. I wonder the last time the Sox have done that. I bet 30-40-50 years.
  22. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) We are what we are a below average team Team has to build on this streak. Can't expect to sweep two four game series in a row. That's crazy stuff on the road. Just have to use this as a springboard.
  23. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:56 AM) You guys are all overreacting. Everyone has bad starts now and then and he's obviously hurt. They should've taken him out looking back at it. How bad is he hurt? That is not good news.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 02:56 AM) .500 not to be really disappointed in the ace tonight. Hope the team comes to play in the next game and stop its streaky ways. Need desperately to win a game after losing four in a row, winning this many in a row, then losing one finally. Can't turn one loss into two, into three. Not with the team buying instead of selling.
  25. Was hoping we could keep it close and try to steal another game. But Sale was awful. Pitching in Fenway is no picnic.
