  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 07:52 PM) Greg, I enjoy your posts. But posts like these where you're just pulling s*** out of your ass really diminish your credibility. Sorry bout that last post. It's such a weird team it always does bizarre stuff. That's why I thought they'd probably go to Boston and reverse this great sweep and get swept. I mean if this lead holds up, Cleveland just pulled a Sox this series. Got swept unexplicably.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) No it won't. They need to take 4 from Boston too though. 8 straight wins would get them to 50-50. Then they'd still need to go 35-27 to win 85 games. Just such a big hole. I don't want to downplay this possible sweep, but you know this weird team will go to Boston and just get owned. Prolly lose all 4. Please trade, Hahn, trade.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) I think we've got more to gain by LaRoche somehow bouncing back from this than we do by dumping him. Like Fathom said, it is critical salary relief. He's not worth Francouer money now. Get rid of him.
  4. I want to sweep this series, but it probably will kill all trade talk. What a weird baseball team the Sox have.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) oh he just praises flowers for his handling of pitchers to take attention off his absolute worthlessness at the plate I'm amazed at the Flowers hatred on the board. How many catchers can hit in baseball? Tyler is OK, nothing special but OK.
  6. Get the Dodgers and Blue Jays to start increasing their offers. We can get 3-4 great players for a hot Shark to desperate teams.
  7. I'd have taken Finnegan and Lamb alone for Shark.
  8. He's a democrat so this is the thread for this. I am asking a serious question of you politicos: Is Obama the worst president in the last 48 years?
  9. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:31 AM) No, they should not sell. The team is starting to gel. They should have gone 2-2 with KC but they blew the Saturday game. And they blew the second Cardinals game. But, why would we trade Shark to Toronto...when we are not even that far behind them and our pitching staff is way above the talent level of theirs? It just makes no sense to me. Look at the teams in front of us. I am not saying we are great, but we played the worst we possibly could play before the All Star break. And all the teams in front of us...they are just bad. And the Twins...just watch. They are going to fall in the next 2 months. We should let it play out. We are kidding ourselves if we think players that we will get in a trade will be of any value. It is wishful thinking. Nobody like Addison Russel will be coming our way. And quite frankly, I am not too impressed with him unless you like a overhyped 2B that can't hit. I like your post. It gives me hope, as well as Hawk saying he won't give up until it's over. BUT ... the way this team has played this season, the bizarre losing streaks and giving away of games via mistakes, I can never believe. And nobody should believe. This team has pretty much flopped until this point and this point is nearing Aug. 1. To think the team can play .650 ball the rest of the way ... it is possible but just way too unlikely. Anybody who believes in this team is flat out crazy IMO. We've been thru this before. SELL and SELL big. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:37 AM) I refuse to have hope. I want to. This pitching staff is good enough that if the White Sox offense is even average, they could make it. But something about fool me once... You can't have hope. The Sox simply caught Cleveland at a great time ... finally! Any time a big series approaches, you can expect the team to return to crap. We're poorly coached and not put together very well. Tomorrow's loss should quell this optimism for a while.
  10. Three wins vs. Cleveland don't make us a contender.
  11. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:03 AM) Gillaspie got a hit and run scored for Angels tonight. Even if he hits .400 I'll say the Sox made the right move. Good for him, though.
  12. Nice win. Saladino and Sanchez on defense have helped the team be less buffoon-ish. With Melky hitting and Saladino getting hits the lineup has been given a lift. Good win but I am not a believer.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 01:59 AM) Wild Card Is there really hope for a WC? I'm all for it but ...
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 01:52 AM) Go Yankees! Perkins just got bombed Why do we care about the Yankees game? Not trying to be a dick, just wonderin??
  15. Nice to pile up the runs against a Central Division team.
  16. Melky is really hot. I wonder how he turned it around. He should tutor LaRoche on turning seasons around.
  17. Johnson has done pretty well this year. Do you think he'll dominate in his second stint in the bigs?
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:27 AM) I wonder if Hahn is trying to get a Major league player , someone he could plug in the lineup right away. Since Blue Jays need a starter and a RP and Hahn can make the trade without actually declaring the season over. All Sox fans will understand him making a trade, so it won't affect attendance either way. I'd trade Shark and Lexi and replace them with Johnson and Saladino in the lineup. Put Davidson at third for a tryout the rest of the season. Davidson/Beckham platoon if we must.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 02:32 AM) Sanchez is starting to come along, good news! We are about to go on a run I think. We have Boston next, I could see us going 6-1 or 5-2 for the week He's doing better but he's hitting .210. Big Hurt don't get fooled again. This team has no rhyme or reason to it. We just KNOW when the team looks like it's worth a damn it'll drop several in a row. this team seems to like being 8 or so below .500. then it appears to relax. Once it gets to 3 or 2 under .500 the choking begins again.
  20. How can Saladino be this good? He went to Oral Roberts for gosh sakes. He has perfect reflexes and form on defense and he's hitting .290.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 01:16 AM) Timing could not be any worse for false hope in front office. You are correct. They better not be thinking we are WC contenders cause the losing streaks just show up out of nowhere with this team. This is a breath of fresh air, though. Saladino has really helped this team and this version of Melky is helping a lot. Oh well, we all know what it takes to win. This is great but again we can't be fooled into thinking the team will contend.
  22. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) ref birdman. i gave it a A- to A. excellent acting..... all around in movie. Keaton, on top of the game as well. i am confuse with the ending and i still am lost ... i think it will always be one of those things that goes unexplained. lets see, ending. dead vs flying powers vs grief reaction vs ???? nice post. If I ever hear it was just a dream I'm going to freak out because dream sequences are dumb. I can't see her having a positive reaction if she saw him splattered dead. That would come way later. She didn't want him dead, that is for sure. She either saw a vision of him flying to heaven or he was flying. If he was flying, the taxi cab driver scene would be unnecessary/wrong.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) http://www.salon.com/2015/07/25/its_not_wh...s_toxic_appeal/ Pretty good article about why Trump has been so appealing. Great article. That is why I love him. I'd just love to see him tear into Hillary if he runs. I like this part of the above mentioned article. ... “He doesn’t know what ‘PC’ means,” as one New Hampshire supporter raved. For these people, Reeve writes, Trump is appealing because “he violates social taboos but not their own political sensibilities.” He says what they believe but don’t have the guts to say for themselves. Granted, this sounds like a pretty frivolous metric to use when deciding who should be president. But humans can be exceedingly tribal and frivolous things! And because Trump’s fans believe that political correctness is primarily enforced by an ill-defined group of elites, his willingness to say things that most of us would consider grotesquely uncouth and bigoted is understood as a more wide-ranging opposition to the powers that be. Look, for example, at how Rush Limbaugh, another veteran practitioner of political resentment, recently defended Trump. He focuses almost exclusively on the billionaire’s critics, rather than the man himself:
  24. Trust me, Sox will be shipping him to Toronto, so those of you who study it, what would be a proper return from the Jays? What would be the least that would satisfy you?
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 25, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) Saladino on the Score now. Do young people in general just mumble because all they do is text? Yep. Texting is all they do in terms of communication. Phone calls non grata.
