  1. Should be interesting to see if the pen does the job now that Robertson is done for the night. Unless he goes one more inning which he actually should.
  2. LaRoche shuts up the haters! Like me! What a bomb. Tie game.
  3. Are pitchers who have Tommy John in constant pain? PTATC?
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:00 AM) Seems now every AL Central team has used the White Sox as a momentum booster to rocket back up in the standings. After beating CLE the first game in that series, they were close to being down for the count until we pulled them back into the race. Every one of 'em. You are right. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:10 AM) That Cabrera signing could be one of the worst free agent acquisitions ever made by the White Sox. Just pathetic signing. He's a miserable hitter (currently). QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:10 AM) Why the f*** is Bonifacio not playing against a LHP? He is a complete waste of a roster spot if they're going to use him. Cmon. Boni stinks. He's no answer. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:13 AM) They got Swirsky because he was available to go on the road for 11 days. He's not there to replace Hawk, so lay off of him. I love Swirsk. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:21 AM) Holy f***, Robin must be reading Soxtalk, as several were b****ing about him not pinch-hitting for Flowers. And look, it actually worked! And because of that I will say "hey Greg, go f*** yourself"! Folks' hatred of Greg has gotten 'em banned before. Don't lose it cause of me. I'm just another voice. Oops. Jose whiffs. One out.
  5. Four hits so far? You gotta be bleepin me. Please at least fire our hitting coach after tonight. Do something. These fans deserve a win tonight.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 06:25 AM) You're joking, right? You think Adam LaRoche can hit a grounder up the middle on purpose? I'm not a fan of guys who hit right into the shift in key situations. It's ignorant batting and selfish play IMO.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) It is funny how the Bulls smear campaign organized months ago vs Thibs has been successful. Even thiugh he coached without his best player more than half the games during his tenure, he has a.top 5 all time winning percentage. His offense is old, horrible etc. yet somehow it was top 10 in efficiency with guys like Aaron Brooks and Kirk Hinrich getting decent minutes. He ran players into the ground, yet the only 2 with real heavy minutes were Pau, having his best season in years, and Jimmy Buckets, who somehow overcame being run into the ground last year and this to be voted the leagues most improved player. Maybe Thibs had to go, but there is no basketball reason that needed to happen. The hatchet job started stealthfully months ago, and kept on continuing. Just the other day i heard a media member slammimg Thibs for playing Noah 40 minutes a night on one leg. He played 40 minutes in 2 games this year. One was OT, one was double OT. The total lack of class the Bulls organization showed will bite them in the ass one day. I hope the Mayor succeeds, but I doubt he will squeeze more wins out of the team if the players reamin the same and Rose plays less than half the time. Awesome post Dick Allen. This Bulls team is not going to win more games with Fred than it did with Thibs.
  8. Here we go again. Detroit coming to town. Are the Sox going to be just what the doctor ordered for Detroit? Minnesota hasn't slowed down since getting back on track with a 4-game sweep of the Sox. Cleveland feasted and started its recovery after dusting off the Sox and KC of course used that series opening romp to its quick start. They have settled down and need to play the Sox again. Now Detroit gets to turn its season around by playing the Sox. Can the Sox finally sweep a beaten/bruised, lousy Detroit team or let it get off the mat?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:39 AM) It was put together with some flaws but with enough talent to potentially overcome them. Unfortunately outside of Beckham and Rodon, no one has overachieved on their expectations for the season. The problem comes with Melky and Samardzija falling incredibly short of what was expected so far. I respect you fathom, but our front office and scouts again failed miserably to PROJECT correctly. LaRoche is done, just a tad better than Paulie at the end (that grounder he hit up the middle into the shift made me laugh; how can he be so stubborn or dumb?). Melky is an atrocity and Jennings is beyond bad. I won't go through all the stiffs like Noesi as well. Duke has been acceptable I guess. They projected well on Robertson and Abreu. Also they failed to realize Gillaspie is not acceptable and Micah was not ready. As a result this team was put together very poorly. They also failed to project Tyler going downhill from an average season. I don't like the team makeup.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 05:23 AM) It's just a very bad team. Starting pitching has looked much better, but they are so bad in every other area of the game. When you have a lineup with 3-4 guys who should be batting 9th, it's going to be hard to score. Amen. This team blows. It is a miserably put together baseball team.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 05:17 AM) Jennings didn't cost the Sox the game. He sort of did.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:20 AM) A lot of people on this site don't seem to grasp the concept that there are varying levels of suck. I'm continuously seeing "no point in pinch-hitting for/replacing this guy, they all suck", despite the fact one sucks way worse than the other. I still disagree. The pinch hitters would not have come through, either. Our pinch hitters probably shouldn't be in the big leagues. I'm still not convinced Conor is a big leaguer. I know Boni isn't. Soto sucks. There are levels of suck, but at least Flowers has home run power, albeit he's only going to hit about five all season at this rate. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:24 AM) Melky is just bad. .235 average in the 2 hole. Use someone else!! Melky is so bad it's laughable. I'd rather see Will Farrell get called up and play than Melky. At least it'd be funny and not downright sad. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:53 AM) Well, that's a given. Really not sure what they're saving Conor for tonight. He's easily one of the most dangerous bats vs RHP I hear you but "dangerous" is no word to use when talking about Conor. I know you probably meant on our team, but I'm just sayin Conor Gillaspie and the word "dangerous" do not belong in the same sentence unless it's "Conor playing third is dangerous to a team's defensive metrics." QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 05:04 AM) You deserve to lose when you have 6 hits and 1 run in 11 innings while the other teams has 4 errors. Amen. That's the bottom line. p.s. Jennings is one of the worst pitchers the Sox have had in a while IMO. Put him in and duck.
  13. You guys are nuts. Sox don't have the roster to be pinch hitting here and there. All the candidates to pinch hit suck as well.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 04:13 AM) Ok, we really need to score a run here. I don't see us going much longer without givin up a run to this lineup. First things first, pinch hit for Flowers. Don't throw away an out here. Pinch hit whom? Shuck? Boni? They suck as well. Tyler once in a blue moon gets into one for a rare HR.
  15. That was a great DP. Lexi had to throw the ball real hard to Sanchez who made a great play obviously. If Lexi lobs it, no dice. Sanchez for President.
  16. I know Fred's a very very nice guy. But I just can't see how anybody can honestly think he will do better than Thibs. Just as I don't see how a sane person would think Donovan could possibly do better than Brooks. When you fire a coach you are supposed to upgrade. If I were the Bulls ... I'd have hired Brooks or Van Gundy or Larry Brown. Brown is healthy despite his age. If I went college ranks (Brown technically is college) I'd have gone Krzyzewski who might want to end his career in Chicago or Self over Hoiberg. Even Roy Williams. He might want to bail out of UNC with the sanctions coming.
  17. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:04 AM) For the Hawks to win on the road, being down in the 3rd period, and Toews and Kane not getting a point, that's such a huge, huge result. Not sure if anyone noticed, being the Hockey Novice I am, Tampa Bay really just sat back and back early in the 3rd period, really just trying to save the game instead of going for that crucial 2nd goal. You could tell the Hawks were going to score eventually from that point onwards. I wasn't SURE the Hawks were going to score even though I liked the way they were playing throughout the third. I love a game like that. Trail 1-0 for so long and boom ... Chicago in effect swoops in and steals the game. Hawks didn't even need OT. Well it's cliche time for Game Two. Hawks playing with house's money. If Hawks win, obviously it's looking like the Cup will reside in Chicago with the next two at home. If the Hawks lose, well it's the start of a heckuva series, but Chicago still will have a chance to go up 3-1 in the home blink of an eye.
  18. I don't know if this means squat, but it had to be humbling to go to the Angels and not be much of a factor there, either. Had to change his psyche a bit rather than same/ol same ol with the Sox. No matter how he performed or how many pop ups he hit, he was always penciled in the lineup. Also there's a chance he picked up some useful things from a second organization.
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:50 AM) I'm dangerously close to wanting to figure out a way to want Beckham in the lineup every night. I'm past that stage. I want him as everyday second baseman. I'm assuming Gillaspie can hit as well as he did last year. 2B is a black hole in the order unless Beckham is in that hole.
  20. You guys if you want a laugh should follow Brownback in Kansas. He can't get a budget decided upon so there will be furloughs soon. He wants to raise the food tax and sales tax suddenly and all the Missouri stores are laughing realizing tons of Kansans will be going over to Missouri to buy stuff. He also is probably going to raise tax on booze and cigs again sending all the users over the border to buy stuff. Like I said before the people get what they deserve with Brownback. They re-elected him just a few months ago even though he is a buffoon.
  21. At least the Sox keep trying to find relievers who might not suck. They bring in shiploads of 'em every year it seems. Sox have had a lot of lousy relievers since the WS title year.
  22. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 3, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) jeez can anyone imagine how much more potent this pen is going to be if a. they both come back and b. if they can pitched like they did in the past. On the other hand ... Mr. Negativity checking in here. Crain wasn't good in his last stint with the Sox and Nate was not great that is for sure. In fact I was a Nate hater the last time around.
  23. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:32 AM) I hate Swirsky asking so many questions, but I love listening to Stoney's answers. A lot to be learned listening to his insights. LOL. That's the only way to get the great answers is to ask the questions. Poor Swirsky can't win regarding your scenario described here.
  24. Chris Sale. Wow. If he can stay healthy he's an All-Star every single year. Abreu returns and Sox score 9 runs. Drawing six walks as a team is huge. Beckham continues to look like a big-leaguer this year. Flowers has that game he has once in a while where he rakes. Makes you wonder if he'll ever figure out how to have nights like tonight more often. The White Sox continue to try to decide whether they are a .500 team or not. I won't complain when they win. It was the good White Sox tonight.
  25. ONLY thing I like about the process is when they say "welcome home." I feel your pain, though. Awful process.
